Hello BTC Forum,
TL;DR My rig keeps disconnecting from the pool and I have no idea what virtual memory size to use, help!
I'm currently trying to mine Electroneum using Claymore AMD GPU Miner v10.2. My main concern is fairly frequently I get the error message shown in the image below "XMR: Connection lost, retry in 1 sec..." which results in stale shares. The website I am currently using also is only reporting that I am hashing at about 800 H/s instead of the 3.6 KH/s claymore is showing. Could this be due to the disconnects? Is there an easy fix? Also, yes, I have tried switching pools and I still find I disconnect fairly frequently on a ethernet connection.
Supplemental question is in regards to virtual memory. I have 5 AMD RX580s, 8GB each and 8 GB of actual RAM. Claymore said to change the virtual memory to > 16GB, so I just did:
2^13=8192 (MB) * 5 (GPUs) = 40960 (MB minimum) and I saw some other guy set his maximum at 60000 MB so I just did 8192(MB)*8 = 65536 MB just to be over 60000. Is there a good rule of thumb for setting this? Also my settings for Claymore are below. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
