1  Economy / Services / BTC-E API Java Help Please (Willing to Pay) on: December 10, 2013, 03:49:45 AM
Hello,
I have written a small program for personal use in Java but it is missing one key piece of functionality. Namely, it needs the ability to query the BTC-E API for price information on bitcoins using Java. I have read the documentation on BTC-E's website as well as posts of other forum members. However, it is still not clear to me (as the documentation is a bit lacking).

If someone could help me with some simple Java code that just queries the BTC-E API for bitcoin price, that would be awesome. If necessary, I would be willing to pay for the aforementioned help.

So, can anyone assist me?

Thank you.

in the charity/ directory, the latest round receiver file looks to be round 28, but I thought that round 29 just ended. What happened to the file for round 29 and will round 30 have its own file?

Does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Hide BTC Transactions in Client on: October 26, 2013, 06:53:11 PM
Out of curiosity, would it be possible to make a transaction in the BTC client (either send or receive) and have it not show up in the transactions tab of the client? I know it will appear in the blockchain regardless of what I do, but what about the client itself? If such a thing was possible, how would I go about doing that?

Thanks.

Check out www.hosterbox.com. I have been with them for a while and I cannot recommend them enough.

The best advice regarding something like this is just don't bet. Remember that the house always wins in the end and if you ever win something, leave immediately. Other than that, contact tech support and maybe they can sort out your problem.

It will take about 4 hours to get whitelisted, then I imagine "Development & Technical Discussion" would be the place to go. Until then I would be interested in hearing what provoked you to join Smiley

I agree, this is probably the best course of action. Until you can do that, I really wouldn't mind it if you would post here just so we could all see what you wanted to say Smiley
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MTGOX depositing on: October 01, 2013, 08:44:10 PM
how long does it normally take to get bitcoins sent to mtgox in order to sell for cash? it seems to be taking longer than transfers between other wallets.

Firstly, not many people here probably use mtgox. The only real advantage they have is being non-russian and they usually have higher sell prices. If you do use them, it takes a while (few days). Otherwise, use something else such as cambx.

Just don't use Gox at all. Personally, I would recommend that you store your BTC in an offline wallet or in a very secure online wallet (blockchain.info, inputs.io, etc.) and then only transfer to exchanges for a short period of time when you are actually ready to exchange them.

I also think something went wrong.
Why steal 5000 when you can steal 5 mill.
Would there be more gain for blockchain than losses from the bad publicity it would get?

when you can steal 5 billion! Cheesy. In any case, I switched to inputs.io a while ago and they have been working out pretty well since
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Payment (if I discover a block) when solo-mining..? on: September 30, 2013, 11:09:40 PM
You are not going to find a block all by your lonesome Sad. Unless you have a couple of Thash that is. Barring that I would recommend that you continue to pool mine on BTCGuild or something like that. However, if you are using GPUs to mine BTC then I would recommend that you mine some alts such as LTC because that will make more than BTC right now
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When did YOU start using bitcoins? on: September 30, 2013, 11:07:19 PM
I got into it a couple of months ago but I really wish that I had gotten into it before that. A couple of my friends got into it a couple of years ago but they did not buy a lot of em so they wish they had bought more Wink. All in all, I wish I had a time machine Grin

You should make that post in the services section of the forum and that way people who want what you are offering can see it. I'm sure you can find someone Smiley
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Want to BUY 60BTC!! whos selling? on: September 30, 2013, 10:04:33 PM
I would personally recommend that you just use an exchange (mtgox, etc.). Otherwise, you can use escrow and if you are going to do that, I would recommend JohnK
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I into Bitcoin? on: September 30, 2013, 10:02:56 PM
Your options are basically to either buy some when the price is right and hope for an increase or to mine using ASICS (I'd probably go with the buying option)

OKPAY is almost certainly the easiest way to do something like that now. You can use a wire transfer to get money into OKPAY

I kind of have a lot of faith in XPM because I think that it is really innovative
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin transaction fees on: September 30, 2013, 02:31:15 AM
I believe that it partially depends on which wallet you use and beyond that, it depends on how fast you want your transactions to be processed
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are you using to mine bitcoins? on: September 30, 2013, 02:28:24 AM
I gave up on mining BTC a while ago and I try to stick to alts via GPUs now.
