2  Other / Beginners & Help / Please help with an issue!!! on: December 18, 2017, 07:24:28 PM
Hello all,

One of my cards dips about 2 mh every one to three minutes then picks right back up. It doesn't seem to affect mining. Is this a issue I should be concerned about? Will it affect my gear in a bad way or be bad for overall shares?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Small changes in hashrates matter? Factory reset clock speeds? on: December 18, 2017, 03:03:12 AM
Hello,

I am using smOS (simple mining OS). I have a card that drops exactly 2 mh every 2 or 3 minutes. I see it on claymore. Then it goes right back up and goes perfect. Everything is mining fine and properly, it happened after on OC. I know it is a bit unstable, but will it matter to run it like this for the duration until I get it fully stable? Would this be ok?

Also, how can I fully reset a GPU to factory settings? Is there a way in bios or in smOS? If so please tell how?

Thank you so much for any help. It is very appreciated
4  Other / Beginners & Help / How to OC an RX 580 in smOS on: December 17, 2017, 12:08:02 AM
Hello,

Does anyone have any good starting points for numbers on overclocking a 580 in simple mining OS (smOS)? 4gb version card. Also, if you have a crd you don't want to overclock, do you type 0 for the card?

For example: Memory MHz 1000, 1000, 0 .... or: Memory MHz 0, 1000, 1000

any help would be awesome!

Thank you so much.

Hello, So I am mining on dwarfpool, all seems to be going well now. It registers my worker/rig and I am getting shares. But when I try to add my IP address it does not let me reset my auto payout to lower amount. It says it is not the right IP adress. I am checking it on my laptop and noy my rig, as I am using SMos. Are they different IPs (the laptop and rig)? May that be the issue? How do I check IP using SMos if that is the case?
Please help, it would be massivly appreciated
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please help! Stuck on EtherMiner and SMos Issue on: December 13, 2017, 10:11:01 PM
Also, as it seems you know about SMos, this would be correct assuming I set up account eth wallet and it register my worker rig right?

-wd 1 -r 1 -epool stratum+tcp://eth-eu.dwarfpool.com:8008 -ewal $walletETH/$rigName -esm 0 -epsw x -allpools 1 -mport -3333 -asm 1

The $walletETH/$rigName are auto-filled, right? Everything I read on the site and have seen on Vosk leads me to believe this is correct. It auto fills in your into.

Just wanted to verify.

Thank you so much

I did use wallet address. Or SMos does when you use the variable entry $rigName or the wallet variable. I am very sorry, what would be the right section? It is about eth so I used altcoin. My apologies.

Hello all,

Running single test gpu on SimpleMining OS. I am mining on Ethermine on SimpleMining OS. On SMos it says that I am getting shares and that my hashrate is ok, but when I try to confirm that I am mining on Ethermine, it says that it doess not find my adress. Which it should as long as SimpleMinining is working correctly and mining.

Here is my config: -wd 1 -r 1 -epool stratum+tcp://us1.ethermine.org:4444 -ewal ((wallet)) -esm 0 -epsw x -allpools 1 -mport -3333 -asm 1

Also, what is with the DevFee: stop mining and disconnect bit?

Any help would be amazing.

ah i see thank you all. It won't affect mining speeds and hash rates for now though correct? Or at least not majorly so, right?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you run an OS on an external harddrive??? Please help!?! on: December 07, 2017, 06:45:18 AM
Like an external USB hard drive -- like this (below). Rather than an internal hard drive like you find in a PC tower.

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Can you run an OS on an external harddrive??? Please help!?! on: December 07, 2017, 06:11:51 AM
Hello all,

I am still a bit fuzzy and really need some clarification. Can I boot OS from a jump drive, then install it to an external USB 1TB hard drive and run the OS off of the external hard drive, just for a month or two? Would it still function properly and mine the exact same? I have plenty of external hard drives and jump drives, just no standard HDD or SDD.

If I am correct this will be fine, just a bit hard on the hard drive, but shouldn't affect any speeds or hash rates, right?

If you could please help I would be very grateful

external HDD would work much smoother than jump drive I am guessing? Again this is just for a month or two, not permanent. Not ideal but it should all work fine, right?

thank you so much!!

I have a 1 TB external hard drive that plugs in via USB. Could I download Linux on the 1 TB portable hard drive and use it like that? Have plenty of USB sticks and external hard drives. Just no like SATA HHDs. Would that work just for a month or two period??

Thanks again all!!  Smiley

Think Vosk Coin ordered a machine from them he said in a video, they seem legit. Don't just take my word tho lol  Smiley

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Help Using USB with Linux as HDD?? on: December 05, 2017, 01:46:24 AM
Hello all,

I am going to be running Ubuntu from a USB and will be running only a miner and setting up pool and such on my rig. Will something like this be sufficient?? I know it will be very sluggish, but it should be good enough to run the OS and download a simple mining program and I should be good to go correct? If not could someone please tell me what path I should take?

I know Vosk does something like this with smOS. I want to do the same thing with Linux basically.

something like this is what I mean: https://www.amazon.com/Ubuntu-Linux-16-04-Bootable-Flash/dp/B01MR5OTM0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1512436512&sr=8-4&keywords=linux+usb

I know you can write your own, too.

Thanks so much all. you are all amazingly helpful

Can someone please confirm these parts will work together. last question lol. And the ASUS Board listed can run the classic 3 card trio rig on board without risers, too correct?

Thanks so much all. I owe you all for the help!!

So last minute I decided to go with the ASUS Prime Z270 over the Gigabyte mobo for easier expandability. Plan to start with the 3 card "trio". With 3 card son the rig to start and build to 6 later this year. You can run 3 cards on this board like a trio correct?

I just need to make sure the CPU and RAM will work with the board. If someone could please verify or supplement these parts that would honestly be soo amazing. I would really appreciate it.

Here are the parts:

Thank you so much.
