1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoGraffiti - Block Chain Message Encoder & Decoder on: January 14, 2016, 01:36:43 AM
@odotan
Good news, some miner finally decided to confirm the transactions. Your message is now saved in the block chain.

By the way, I have been working on the new version of cryptograffiti for quite some time now. I will start working on the write tab in the near future and I plan to make automated message encoding more user friendly. For example, the users should have the possibility to include their chargeback address so that in case of problems it would be easier for me to send them back their bitcoins. Also, I will have to upload the raw transaction hex in addition to the transaction hash so that the user could immediately verify that their order has been filled indeed and even broadcast the transaction manually if needed.

This new work in progress cryptograffiti is available here:
http://cryptograffiti.info/interface/reloaded/index.html

When I get it done I will replace the original cryptograffiti.info with the new version.

Thanks very much. To answer your question from the previous response, I did not send the other transaction you mention.

The text I posted is the beginning of the book of genesis in Hebrew. It's part of an experiment to put the whole old testament on the blockchain

https://www.facebook.com/groups/btcil/permalink/960461627366899/

Do you think we could manage to put the entire book with similar fees/dust size? We're talking about this text:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bvka8swl4z3nkat/Torah.txt

It's about 750000 characters, 1406852 bytes... so should be about 70000 addresses

I say about because the write page became unresponsive when I tried to paste the entire text, so I pasted about 1/10th of the text and got this:

Chars: 75658
Bytes: 143557
Addresses: 7179
Cost: 0.04009188

So the whole book should be about 0.4 btc.

Is there something that you can do about the page unresponsive, or maybe an upload button, so I can upload the file?

Also, is there some kind of optimization we can do for the costs?

Can we still send one satoshi dust such as here

https://blockchain.info/tx/e0ce23d299bb1b7decdf86522c023554bbdeab80cebcca6aa09f01a86c65d10e

or would this not work anymore?

How many addresses could we fit into one transaction, what dust, and what fees should we use?

Thanks again very much for the quick and thorough response.

However, I do not see a new txnr after nr 4105, which is two days ago.

Can you explain please what is going on? thanks.

The pattern I requested is "1thanxio", and it has to be all lower case, does the pool takes that into account?
Yes - when you requested the pattern, you should have read this line:
Quote
Your desired pattern (with leading 1 for MainNet, case-sensitive):
( emphasis mine )

As an aside - the correct link for your work request (mangled in your post): 1thanxio @ vanitypool

thanx for your response. regarding the link... it appears that the link gets mangled... I can't get it to appear right (unless you add the URL tag... like you did).

thanks for your response. Could you please provide a link to a good step-by-step guide on how request an address in a trustless way? Thanks.

1) Generate a Bitcoin address, save its private key safely, find out its public key - use http://casascius.wordpress.com/2013/01/26/bitcoin-address-utility/ or https://www.bitaddress.org/ for example (you will need those services later anyway)

2) Fill out the details in https://vanitypool.appspot.com/newWork

3) Send the request, send the bitcoins to the specified address

4) Once your work is solved, use the tools from point 1 to combine the key

5) Import the key into your wallet of choice

Best start with a simple and cheap pattern to get the hang of things.

Hi, thanx for your response. I have just requested a vanity address

3D939B757169ACCA30EFCD9E58D2D2326CC47929C38C9DB2257">https://vanitypool.appspot.com/check?key=1thanxio:047CE55D39162CCCAE7BB04609BCAC133166E6095C2970238C5CF68614664F0893EE6EFF645B723 3D939B757169ACCA30EFCD9E58D2D2326CC47929C38C9DB2257

And paid for it:

https://blockchain.info/tx/a05197b41b5a8e96926b0053d3ed9a84906589c14d7f732115932831d280f744

The pattern I requested is "1thanxio", and it has to be all lower case, does the pool takes that into account?

thanx

Hi, I would like to send in some work, but I would like to know several things:

1. Is this project still active?
2. How long can I expect it to take (8 characters including the 1 in the beginning)
3. What if my work is not solved. Do I get the money back?
4. I presume that if my lavishness is the highest, then my work would be first to be solved/worked on?

Thanks

The project is active, but there isn't much new development - it's a service that works by itself. 8 characters can take a few days or more, depending on how much money you put down as a reward. I can cancel the work and refund you if you change your mind, but it's not an automated process. In most cases miners should work on highest lavishness work, but some prefer smaller lavishness but also smaller complexity work for more predictable return.

thanks for your response. Could you please provide a link to a good step-by-step guide on how request an address in a trustless way? Thanks.

7  Economy / Service Announcements / bitconnect: easiest bitcoin wallet, the first bitcoin messenger 123 BTC giveaway on: May 25, 2014, 12:24:15 AM
http://bitconnect.me - bitcoin messenger

Key features:

1. Usability: the easiest bitcoin wallet yet. One tap signup with facebook connect. Sending bitcoin is as easy as sending a facebook message. Send and receive bitcoin by entering a name. Even to people who are not your facebook friends. Of-course, you can also enter/paste a bitcoin address or scan a QR code.

2. Cross-platform: It’s all HTML, so works on any device with a browser: desktop, mobile, or tablet. It’s primarily designed to be used on a mobile device, so give it a try on iPhone, Android or any other device.

3. Security: We don’t hold your private keys - a password that you choose, plus a seed on our server hash to give your private key. We never receive your password, and we cannot access your bitcoins.

4. Messaging: the first bitcoin *messenger* changes the wallet paradigm of a list of single transactions, to “conversations” with a user or a bitcoin address. It’s similar to the way Apple changed the SMS inbox/outbox view to the friendly chat view that all phones use today. And since it’s a chat view, we’ve added messaging to the conversations, so you can chat with your counter-party. Instead of communicating through email/facebook/etc before making a transaction, you can communicate directly from within the wallet.

5. Payment requests: enter the amount, and an optional message, and the other user simply needs to click “accept” and the money is sent.

6. “thanx”: Off-chain transactions currency.

   a. one thanx = one satoshi. Change one for the other at any time. All thanx are backed up by real satoshi on the blockchain. Audit/proof of solvency function allows you to see it for yourself (coming soon).

   b. zero fees. Send even one thanx (=one satoshi), without paying fees.

   c. no “bitcoin anxiety” - when you send thanx, you can cancel as long as the other side hasn’t accepted your thanx.

   d. zero confirmation time. Once the thanx are accepted, the transaction is done.

- rewards: 123.456789 BTC GIVEAWAY! invite friends and get lot’s of thanx Smiley

The idea behind bitconnect is to make it reach those people who have never even heard of bitcoin. We achieve that by easily allowing you to invite your friends to join as well. When your friends join, both you and your friend will get 12,345 thanx each. Just our way to say thanx for joining the system and making bitconnect more valuable. So please invite all your friends. It's win-win for everyone.

You will also be given rewards for other things like verifying your phone number etc.

- 100% reserve:

All thanx in the system are backed up by real satoshi on the real blockchain in the following addresses:

   Hot wallet: 12thanx3dK8z4ztDdFEPx1FbvaWduPho28

   Cold address: 123thanxEYFsecfU9eB4jWWrnESkCL4Y8N

I have sent 123.456789 BTC to the hot wallet:

   https://blockchain.info/tx/649391b4a83d21e20c705150b3fe9d7ed498cd7d589621e5ccf0a9d9c414d8b6

and then moved 111.1111101 BTC to the cold-storage address

   https://blockchain.info/tx/5d637e00157919ec86b0837496126211228a2caaab2e0b8e17e55d03c1b97321

leaving 12.3456789 BTC in the hot wallet.

All these BTC are reserved for rewards for bitconnect. If and when all the funds in the hot wallet are given away as rewards, an additional batch of 12.3456789 BTC will be moved there from the cold address.

The hot wallet will also be used to hold satoshi of users who wish to turn satoshi into thanx, and and back.

- Facebook page and app:
https://www.facebook.com/bitconnectme

since this is a facebook-first community, all official communication will be posted on facebook

Hope to see you all join bitconnect, and invite all those who've never heard of bitcoin, and those who have. That's the goal of bitconnect - get bitcoin to the masses.

thanx a lot, and see you on bitconnect Smiley

Why do we need this when Bitcoin is supposed to do this already?

Put your money and dev efforts into improving adoption of Bitcoin.  Smiley

-B-

he doesnt have "dev efforts"". thats like calling a script kiddy a elite hacker, purely because he is handed a sourcecode and alters 3 lines of code that some forum has told him to alter. and then came up with some lame story as to some ethical reason to use it.

altcoin creators are a waste of space and dont deserve a second thought

With stuff like http://coingen.io there's no need for dev efforts. It's not dev efforts necessarily which give value to a coin, but the way it's marketed, target group, cause etc. If this coin is used by the people who received it for free, then it has value because of that. As I described already, there is no gain to the project starter. All coins will be claimed or given away to charity in one year.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Juba - The first cryptographic coin to promote peace in the Middle East! on: March 18, 2014, 03:16:52 AM
It's not a pump and dump. All pre-mined coins will be held until claimed or until they're given away to charity.

It is a pump and dump, those poor Palestinians will be left holding the bag with worthless Juba coins. Better get them to invest in bitcoin instead.

They're receiving them for free. If they're worth something in one year, great, otherwise nobody lost anything. And if none are left, then it must mean that those who opted-in and got them are holding something valuable. So it's win-win any which way.

By giving it specifically only to people with an Israeli or Palestinian mobile number, we're helping create connection between these people. These connections will help promote peace and cooperation.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Juba - The first cryptographic coin to promote peace in the Middle East! on: March 18, 2014, 03:01:45 AM
Epic fail.

Just another alt pump and dump.

If Middle Easterners want to get into crypto, the only valuable coin for them is bitcoin.

It's not a pump and dump. All pre-mined coins will be held until claimed or until they're given away to charity.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Juba - The first cryptographic coin to promote peace in the Middle East! on: March 18, 2014, 02:35:51 AM
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Juba-Coin/394481557360906

Juba is a slang word in Hebrew for money. Its origin is in Arabic. Israelis and Arabs have a lot more in common. Juba is the first cryptographic coin with a goal to promote peace and cooperation between Israeli’s and Palestinians. There will ever be ten million Juba, nine million of which will be pre-mined. Anybody with an Israeli or a Palestinian mobile phone number can receive one Juba by sending an opt-in SMS.

The distribution will begin on April 1st, at 12:00 PM GMT+2.

The remaining million coins will be mined by the general public over a period of one year. On April 1st 2015, any remaining unclaimed coins, will be given away to charities focused on promoting peace and cooperation between Israel and the Palestinian people. 50% in Israel, and 50% in Palestinian territories

Thank you!!! I was able to withdraw my 10BTC! Thank you so much! I wish Gox were this easy.

https://blockchain.info/tx/c08b81abc8196cec6bf3e41399755567b230e71be089833315fb846427832d88

Thanks for being clear about the recent deposits, and that they should not be deducted. Nothing less than that would be reasonable. Thanks for being reasonable.

However, I would like to make sure that I not only do not lose any of my 10BTC, but also, that they would be withdrawable immediately, or sent back to me immediately. There is no reason to keep them locked up anymore, and there is no reason to delay their refund. I would like to be able to withdraw them immediately, or have them sent back to me immediately on the address I sent them from.

Please send them back and confirm. Thank you.

About recent deposits--it really wouldn't be fair to deduct deposits made after the BTC was taken. Obviously I should have posted a notice on the Balances page, but it is not difficult to make an exception for recent deposits.

I was not aware of this theft, and I stupidly sent in 10 BTC about 7 hours after your twitter announcement

https://twitter.com/Poloniex/status/440734781689446400

I expect to get the entire 10BTC balance back, and NOT 12.3% less, as I would've expected you to block deposits as well, or at least put up a sign on the front page of the site waring about the hack.

Please confirm that you agree and will do so. Thank you.
