1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Streamix(MIXS) - DeFi Social Media Streaming & Gaming Platform on: September 20, 2020, 03:12:44 AM
In fact, I don't understand the term DeFi Media Streaming at all. Because the token is available on Uniswap with liquidity of $1100? For me that is not an argument to call the project DeFi

I can see that, especially since the term DeFi has been used so much lately that its meaning has started to drift.  That said, every project needs to start somewhere. Usually the descriptions are likely what a project is aiming for, not what the minimum viable product is currently. Right now holding tokens are for those that believe in the project and would like to see it succeed, and to me it would seem the small amount in circulation now are for doing just that. Liquidity on Uniswap is currently locked up, and if more should be needed I suppose they could add to it. However, for average folk (apart from early supporters and pure speculators) the best way to acquire tokens would most likely be to earn them while using the platform, or performing bounty tasks.

The MVP is just that -- to make a product that the community would want to use is one that that same community can be a part of while the meat and potatoes are being cooked. If crypto has taught me anything, it's that your opinion matters, especially when supporting projects being built when you can arrive on-site while they are digging the foundation. Being able to be a part of something and help shape it while it is being built is one of the most thrilling things about this space. Projects that are built more slowly typically have stronger and better thought out first floors to get in on.  Nobody wants to jump into a $YAM ship only to realize that they forgot to seal the cracks in the baseboards because it was rushed out the door.  Let's build this right since YouTube has show us time and time again that it's not about you.  Its more like the royal "we".  ThemTube?   bah.  Let's take back the control we have let slip through our fingers.

In regards to the streaming service and social media, will you be complementary to the existing services or will you be a substitutionary, in a sense of competitor to them?

Yes, I believe there are plans to link existing social media and content sites to Streamix, thereby helping to give that content both more views and a wider distribution.  That should not only help boost adoption, but help demonstrate the value proposition that Streamix offers.  Heck, I think it could help spur a snowball effect of growth which could demonstrate the value of posting Streamix-first content since it can be more directly monetized.

So, after getting my Badcoin wallet and miner setup, how long does it take before you see that you've mined a coin? Does it show up in the wallet? I've mined for an hour and did a search for my Badcoin address on the Badcoin block explorer but didn't see anything. It's an Intel I5.

That depends on which pool you are using to mine since they can all have their own payout parameters and timing.

If you are using https://badcoin.cryptocoinpools.com, they recently changed their pay schedule because too many people mining there were mining directly to an exchange deposit address.  This caused a lot of grief on the part of the shared exchange wallet, and probably made some withdrawals tricky. To combat this they changed the min payout to 1000 BAD, and are working on an update for a payout of smaller balances when left over a day or so, like if you stop mining.  That way nothing is lost.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BADcoin [BAD] A P2P Network Built on the Fairest Mineable Multichain on: May 10, 2019, 09:40:54 PM
not sure if you guys are just ignorant to mining
or trying to bullshit here haha
but theres definitally NO GPU MINING HERE
Groestl and skein , you state for gpu mining
but they have had ASIC's for like a year now
the Balkai g28 mines them, plus others im sure by now

so ASIC only, oh and yescrypt is on fpga likely

what a fail lol

No need for blind hate, man.  These days you don't see a whole lot of projects launch fairly, or without a big token sale, etc.   Everyone involved is volunteering their time to make a project that is working to give everyone a chance at mining. This doesn't strike me as a "get rich quick" scheme, but more of a fun way to learn how mining works in a novel way.

It's almost impossible to get started mining with your own spare equipment on just about any other project, so $BAD gives people a GOOD way to re-purpose outdated mining equipment, old computers, and possibly in the future even mobile devices the ability to see the fruits of mining rather quickly utilizing community mining pools. This way they can tell if they have set up their ring the right way without mining for weeks, wondering if they messed something up, or just aren't lucky enough to stay motivated.

If nothing else, new people who are getting into this space that are want to learn how this works have a place to hang out, ask questions, and earn some $BAD.  It will do good things for people who enter the crypto space on the next big adoption cycle. So, I don't see the problem here. If you don't like the sausage, don't order it. There are plenty of other deli's you could go visit.

Don't hate on future crypto enthusiasts before they get started.  Everyone has to start somewhere.  Not many other projects try to level the playing field like Badcoin.

Agreed.  The BAD in the name speaks to its heritage.  I've been listening to the podcast for a while, and these guys are anything but bad... they're Bad!  I've been mining this found a couple days and it is exciting to be able to watch mining rewards arrive at a steady rate.  The fact that the algorithm tries to give miners a more or less equal footing is a novel approach, and I think will do well to help bring new people into the crypto community, as well as allow them to get their feet wet with mining.  Mining has always been one of those "he who has the money, makes the money" kind of things, so here is hoping this can level the playing field so new folks can learn about how these things work.

I agree, crap like this is what is working against the mainstream wanting to even consider the crypto space. We as a community need to work toward having projects work more in the open, and in a community-involved way.  That way there isn't a false figurehead that can pull everything down and just cut 'n run.  Perhaps there could be some dApps that projects could start adopting that would allow all this work to be done in a more decentralized way and prevent from things just disappearing.  I'm sure there are plenty that would have been willing to pick up the torch and at least try to forge ahead.

Sure, but the discord has nothing but bitter people and spam campaigns.  Do yourself a favor and just stay far away from this one.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What it cost in fiat money to make a crypto project? on: April 27, 2019, 09:25:22 PM
Agreed.  There are many projects that go out and raise as much money as possible and then try to sort it out later, but that is a dangerous maneuver. Best to plan out exactly what you want to do/accomplish as much as possible first.  You can always pivot or change plans as things change, but at least you have somewhat of a blueprint/roadmap to work and plan from.

Social media accounts are free, but please don't buy and re-purpose one.  This will give your project a very shady look from the get-go.  Organic growth is the kind that sticks around since it is based off of substance, not empty hype.

Exchanges can charge crazy fees to review and list, and DEXs can possibly be less, but don't focus on that from the start.  Its more of a "if you build it, they will come" sort of thing if you are filling a needed niche.

Hello everyone,

I would like to introduce the brand new Ring Network Discord server.  It has only just been stood up, so it is pretty sparse on information for the time being, but feel free to stop by and say hello: https://discord.gg/vrdgNr3

I will be updating it over the next couple days with helpful links and start fleshing out FAQs and things like that.

Other info and official links that may be helpful:

You can also chat with us on WeChat:

Ring Network (RingNetwork.org) believes the key to freedom of innovation in the digital age is decentralization. For new products and business models to flourish, we know that developers must be free to easily build with speed and scale. We are here to challenge today's blockchains that have not embraced true decentralization, which can prohibit innovators and future thinkers from freely creating the change they want to see.

Ring Network exists to make development easy, fast and scalable, and to bring trust to an untrustworthy environment so you can dream, invent, and create without constraint! On top of that, Ring Networks will be implementing privacy protecting features such as Mimble Wimble, CoinJoin, and others to help let users take back their financial privacy, and foster freedom.

I hope to chat with you all soon.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: 【Bounty】【4 weeks】$$$$ TrustNote Bounty Campaign = Airdrop $$$$$ on: November 11, 2018, 09:00:45 PM
Great work, $TTT team.   Too bad the bear market tends to make people overlook great bounty opportunities such as this one. Probably the same people that saw the early $BTC faucets and say "Only 5 BTC? I'll pass."

Hurry up and get on the train before it leaves the station because there may not be another one anytime soon.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] on: October 28, 2018, 11:24:08 PM
Wouldn't doubt that it is a trojan.  Nothing about this project strikes me with confidence.  Even the website and github has been pulled down now.  A FAU Masternode is now less than 30cents.  Just save your change and look elsewhere.

There are none.  The devs are long gone. Just look at their discord which hasn't received any love since a few month ago.  If you are holding this I would suggest re-evaluating your position.  Even looking at the original vision of "wrapping" other blockchain transactions in a "defensebox" and protecting it with a "password" seems silly at best.  If you have a private key, why on earth would you then use a simple password instead?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Nodium (XN) - Masternode Privacy Focused Cryptocurrency on: October 14, 2018, 09:10:13 PM
Hey everyone, as you may have probably seen if you are a member of the Nodium Discord, the lead Dev Nodium, has declared that no further development will be done on the project, and as such there will not be a DEX. We were all shocked and disappointed. However, many of us have gathered over on an interim Discord channel to regroup, and make what we have into a community-driven project. Active discussions are underway and we would love your valuable input. Join us to revive what we have! One thing is for sure, any new directions will be community voted and decided on.

I have taken the liberty to remove all obvious spam and/or fake accounts from the Telegram channel. The new Telegram admins will help to keep things clear of cruft so we can focus on the tasks at hand. The bulk of the brainstorming is being done over on the interim discord server, but you are more than welcomed to share your thoughts here as well, but the chat groups are currently more active with proposals and discussion.

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Rhenium [XRH] Decentralized, private & community driven POS cryptocurrency on: September 23, 2018, 03:09:11 PM
Are these cheap "masternode coins" the new ICO money grabs of 2018?  Open source is great and all, but these copy-pasta MN POS (not proof-of-stake) coins are leaving bad tastes in peoples mouths.

Thoughts?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TTT] TrustNote: Welcome to the new Minable Public DAG Ledger on: August 11, 2018, 12:48:18 PM
TrustNote's technology will make the world more transparent, fairer, more inclusive and more prosperous.

I think the more decentralized approach to a DAG, in addition to the inclusion of Proof of Work, was a missing piece of the puzzle that the crypto-space needed to be glued into place.  Too many of these DAG projects sacrifice decentralization for throughput and/or security in my opinion.  The number of users banging on the security of these systems is still low, even if the potential purse is large. Once more people enter the space and start testing the actual security of more and more projects we will see who takes their security and robustness seriously.

you need to add token details to make this project more interesting and successful.

Which details would you like to see?  There is a bunch to dig into on their GitHub: https://github.com/trustnote

Cardano?  Stellar is a great platform (that is actually functional) and is backed by IBM.  Stellar is the correct path forward for this project I believe.

I have only just now heard of this project, but damn is it interesting.  Waste energy will be HUGE as it is one of the most green ways to (produce?) re-capture energy.  As time goes on, this project will become more and more important and relevant.
