1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multi Cryptocoin Payment Processing [Coin List Vote #3] on: December 12, 2013, 08:11:25 AM
I voted for stablecoin, it's the only altcoin with a useful gimmick - anonymity and faster confirm times.

We've literally known about this since Bitcoin was created.
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox residence proof on: November 09, 2013, 07:08:09 PM
Finally got a response from support, the told me to get a "Certificate of residency", which doesn't exist in my city. Maybe I'll check some other exchanges, but I don't know any that deal directly in $CDN.

Then as a Canadian don't you have tax records?   I'm sure that is proof of residence.   All of these other exchanges you have to verify with as well, so your not going to get around the fact that you need some kind of evidence.  Gox or not.

Never filed a tax return before, and won't be filing my first one until March. I get that they need proof, but how is a bank statement, a drivers licence, a health card and a passport not enough?
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox residence proof on: November 09, 2013, 05:43:46 AM
yes, after 30h.
But they let me hang in the air. For that shit, i lost my trust for this "company".
I payed a lot of fees. This behavior was damn unrespectul.

Wait, were you getting cash or BTC? Cause I've heard cash wires take almost a month.
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox residence proof on: November 08, 2013, 09:36:41 PM
I give you a good advice. dont use Mt Gox.
Look here in the Forum, the hold the Money back. But even more worse they started also to delay Bitcoin withdraws !!!
I waited over 30h for a withdraw where the info never warned me about. says 1h max.)
Other people here wait since 3 days!! with amounts from 1k- up to 100000K....
(i had 2.5K)

This is a clear sign that this company has serious problems. Seems insolvent or fraudulent.

So if you dont have Money to burn just for fun. Choose another exchange, try to buy local, or try to find fund methods with built in conversation of cad to usd.

greetings

Did you ever actually get your money?
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox residence proof on: November 08, 2013, 06:33:54 AM
They're set up is fucking pathetic for such a big site. If you don't have a residential address, or even a residential address with someone else's name, I doubt your going to get your coins out of MtGox. They can't seem to wrap their heads around a few simple things and it just makes you want to jump through the computer and beat the shit out of them.

It's pretty awful, but I haven't found any other exchange that makes it easy to sell in CAD and wire money to a Canadian bank account. Luckily I don't have any coins in now, but I was hoping to sell a few of the ones I have for some living money with the price being so high right now. Wonder if they'll accept a combination of a passport, health card and bill with a family member's name on it. I also don't care for the idea of giving a company that much ID. Maybe I'll find someone on kijiji that wants to buy them in person.
7  Other / Politics & Society / Re: LAX shooter - 'hated fiat' on: November 08, 2013, 06:26:37 AM
Is it bad that my first thought is that if he had BTC they will likely never be found, effectively boosting the value of mine?
8  Economy / Service Discussion / MtGox residence proof on: November 07, 2013, 11:38:35 PM
As a Canadian, is there any way for me to prove my residence? I don't pay utilities, my cell phone is paid with the cable bill as it's cheaper bundled, and I obviously don't have private health insurance. They won't even take bank statements, which seems ridiculous to me.
9  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~600Gh/s] Bitcoins.lc - No invalid blocks, Instant payout, EU, IPv6, 0% fee, LP on: August 20, 2011, 08:11:01 AM
This is probably just an error on my end, but attempting to log on to the site simply refreshes the page. My miner is still mining away, and I was able to log in this afternoon, so I'll see if it just fixes itself overnight.
10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin client rounding up all TX fees to .01! on: July 23, 2011, 11:58:40 AM
Who's genius idea was this? I hate to be one of those guys, but how can we expect the masses to adopt Bitcoin when the client can't even charge a reliable fee?
11  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2220 GH/s] Slush's Bitcoin Mining Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz) on: July 22, 2011, 06:15:27 AM
EDIT:

FIxed with newer graphics drivers for CUDA

Hi,

wondering if somebody can help...
I'm attempting to mine for the first time, using Kiv's miner and am using CUDA on the slush pool.
I've set up an account etc, but when I press "start" it never stops "starting" so basically it doesn't actually start mining...
Am I forgetting something? I can't seem to get it to start...

Here's the screenshot:

Try switching to a different miner tab (Doesn't have to be real) and back. Sounds stupid, but I had the same issue. Mind you I have v. 05-01.

It really wasn't as bad as I was expecting after reading the thread. You can clearly draw well, and I liked Bitcoin Squirrel.

Right now I have 3337 accepted and only 40 stale, which works out to 1.198%. Still better than any other pool, with slush I used to get as high as 10% rejects.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Currency Symbol ฿ on: July 13, 2011, 03:27:08 PM
There are a lot of latin letters or other symbols we can use to represent bitcoin, and how anyone can think it's logical to steal another currency's symbol is beyond me.

If only I could figure out how to turn the butthurt in this thread into hashing power, then I could be stinking rich...
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin plus - is it owned by a member of this forum? - RANT ALERT! on: July 06, 2011, 07:14:07 AM
It's not a scam, because the site owner isn't getting the BTC, it's going to the person/pool who mines the next block.

the btc is in *a* account that the website owner has control of, this is how they are able to give btc out, if they were not in control of it they would have no way of giving the btc out at all. their website keeps track of how much btc is owed and to who. so if a account goes inactive for 6 months they can just take the BTC because the person that 'owns' it isn't likely to come back for it. and if they do, they have plenty of other BTC sitting there that they can give them.

Sorry, I should have said the BTC paid as the transaction fee isn't kept by the site owner. I highly doubt he's taking the .01 and only paying .0005

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Get Difficulty Down? on: June 27, 2011, 09:07:35 PM
I mean, I like an easy life. Basically getting the difficulty rating down while I crank up production would make my life easier. So what's the best way to get difficulty down eh?

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where did my bitcoin go? Maybe I just don't know how to use program? on: June 27, 2011, 04:35:54 AM
Wow pretty sure I just got jipped then.

My 1 BTC is completely missing from my address according to block explorer... for some reason it seems like my address changed since the last time I've used it, or Tradehill completely threw away my BTC

This whole thing seems compeltely unreliable.... jesus fucking christ. Why the hell is my address different now than it was before? I sent this data in a week ago and it still isn't here, now I have a different address and I'm still jipped of about $14 USD worth of bitcoin. Fuck this!

... aaaannd this is why things have to get simpler and simpler and more user friendly.
Not really, you just have to not be pants on head retarded.
20  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: are people actually still buying new rigs? on: June 23, 2011, 09:19:35 PM
You all forget that while used video cards sell for less than cost, if you have a whole rig you can stick in some LED fans, bump the RAM up to 4 gigs, upgrade to a phenom, then sell it on craigslist for a profit to WoW kiddies who don't know any better and would otherwise drop 3 grand on an alienware.
