1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 09, 2013, 08:10:15 AM
Alpaca Bob noted:

"A lot of people who want out of Gox buy bitcoin and move that to other exchanges to cash out. This artificially drives the price up on Gox."

I think this is probably true. I wonder if in turn that was driven by issues with MtGOX recent bank and/or Dwolla account issues. Perhaps after a few things resolve the exchanges will come to closer agreement.

This is just a bit of speculation based on my very limited experience. Still excited to see this economic experiment unfold, it could certainly be bigger still in the future!

Best wishes for everyones success!

COMMENT:
I got some 4K of USD funds back and already secured it into another bank since IAFCU (will keep that too for now, they were a great help in this).

QUESTION:
Meanwhile, Does anybody know if any BTC in a bitfloor account are lost forever? I only get errors when attempting to transfer my BTC balance out.

Thanks for any helpful answers, I'm new to all of this. Wish everyone success in retrieving their funds.

"infested999" commented: "You could have withdrew that BTC anytime you want"

Every time I try to transfer BTC out of Bitfloor to an external wallet with either Multibit, Bitcoin-QT, or direct to MtGox... I get an error from bitfloor: "internal server error"

I guessed that the BTC everyone had in bitfloor are lost forever Undecided, Can anyone comment on this, please?

My USD balance was restored to IAFCU as of yesterday (25th July 2013). This is great news. I did have a small BTC balance left in bitfloor, I wonder if that is lost forever?

Anyway, happy to see some refunds announced here, best wishes to all!  Smiley

Though I appreciate 420 humor as much as the next one, this thread seems to be getting a little bit off-track. Sorry to be snarky, I'm a noob.

Back on topic: I have established an IAFCU account and so far it works great and the support there is very professional and prompt. So, even if I never see my money from Bitfloor again, IAFCU seems an interesting new service and maybe I'll even hold it beyond the Bitcoin fiasco.

Good luck to everyone! I will share any new (relevant) information I get right here.

Cheers!  Cool

I am new to the Bitcoin arena, but I have accounts for trading USD <-> BTC with both MtGox and Bitfloor. As you're likely aware, Bitfloor has bit the dust and many of us are still trying to get our USD funds back (BTC are already written off, sadly). FWIW, my advice based on the very protracted, painful, and frustrating bitfloor experience: be patient and watch forums here on bitcointalk closely.

I am fascinated by the emerging currencies such as BTC, but my perspective has been that there are a lot of both good and not-so-good folks out there trying to make things happen in the Bitcoin world. So, I hope MtGox will start speeding things along for you, but hopefully you will get your money and in the mean time I hope you will not become too stressed/frustrated with the process.

Last point, I think a lot of folks are settling in on MtGox after Bitfloor dibacle, and all this activity could be complicating matters too.

Best wishes!  Cool
