Hi mr XC , lots of people here keep asking questions that could be answered if those people actually became useful human beings and if they researched and read the post instead of asking question only a brain dead idiot would before reading and getting enough information. can you please explain how collaboration will benefit holders of XC. tell it to all the little boys and girls that don't quite understand it.

XC : why certainly young whipper snapper , Collaboration will allow holders of XC to benefit, not only by providing security to the coin and its functions to provide decentralized anonymous features, giving people the freedom back that has only more and more been shown in the news to being taken away at an alarming rate. It will also allow us to earn more money and provide services that benefit not just us but other coins. Xnodes will also be distributing content in a wide range of ways from storage solutions and decentralized advertising , this system will reward xnode holders by increasing their earnings.

But mr XC why hasn't the market gone up 200000000% because of this? like my own deluded reasoning suggest should happen all the time with everything

XC : well young child, this is still in development phase, considering the distributed network isn't completely finished yet, it's incredibly hard for xnodes to earn this extra income from a system that isn't fully complete yet. These collaboration while showing no instant gratification will bolster and strengthen the core of XC while providing strength and stability to the network as a whole.

Wow thanks XC , now it has been explained to me i am still going to be asking ill informed stupid questions because i wont pay attention to anything said here, because all i will do is see the price has gone down 2% and wish to blame something for why it is happening and it is obviously going to be directed at the Dev and how i disagree with how he is doing things.

This is the best post I have ever read !!!!!!!!

I mostly see a flat support with descending resistance like a descending triangle but before the end of this triangle many release can change the patern.

Everybody sees what they want to see. I see a bull flag http://www.dailyfx.com/forex/education/trading_tips/trend_of_the_day/2012/02/21/How_to_Trade_Bullish_Flag_Patterns.html

Damn, it's awfully quiet in here and on the exchange. A friend I recently convinced about XC wants to buy 25 btc worth of XC. Anyone willing to sell otc? Please PM me.

Here's an idea:

- every so often, some of us will want to sell XC to pay salaries, rent, etc.

- why don't we post the amount and asking price here and see if there are any takers?

- if there's a deal, trades can take place on Mintpal, which will keep the volume up.

- and the community will understand the reason for selling rather than being perturbed/outraged at the stupidity of sellers.

P.S. This was Bisky's idea. Thanks Bisky!

P.P.S. This would only make sense to those who want to see the price head upwards but still need to sell some XC.

Sounds like a great idea. But, shouldn't this be done on a separate sub-thread? I mean, XC trade thread could deal with whatever people want to exchange.

Possibly...

But that would remove one of its advantages, which is to let community members know what the selling is for.

I reckon that sell offers should be posted publicly, negotiated privately, and then final agreements to trade posted publicly.

After that the community can sit back and watch the trade take place on Bitcoinwisdom.

This is a really bad idea. If you want to sell just go to the exchange and don't hang your dirty linen out in public. You will end up convincing others to sell for similar reasons when they may have just held.

Dan's seen both my router's ports open and my firewall exceptions to not only the program but also ports specific to the program. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't you say it doesn't work for you either due to being on a university network? Regardless, it doesn't work for everyone and whether all the bugs are suppose to be out by 2.5 or 3.0, it should still be something to focus attention on for mass adoption. Hell, if it doesn't work on university networks, a large portion of the demographic (18-35) interested in crypto could have issues.

If it was human error, then it should have been something extremely easy to fix on any number of the remote sessions Dan and I had. The end result is private transfers do not go out to the network/nodes but regular incoming/outgoing is fine. Whether it does nothing due to having it set as unlock for staking only and entering passphrase on sends or unlocking completely before initiating and getting the error 101, it doesn't work. Dan said it definitely shouldn't be doing the 101 error.

To truly say it's working should mean works for everyone. 99% is not 100%, especially as more and more users are downloading wallets and wanting to try out features. Any regular Joe should be able to download the wallet and send anon transfers and that simply isn't the case in its current state.
Thanks

Even bitcoin-qt won't sync on a university network due to the firewall. I never found a way around that although I tried pretty hard - with a real live version of Dan. I imagine there would be issues with encryption and tor as well. (I'm afraid 18-35 year olds may have to pay for their own internet). I should add that depending on your network it may automatically flag peer-to-peer stuff as suspicious unless you add an exception. You should probably check. (Anyway I wouldn't class getting your crypto to work over university networks as regular Joe level.)

Edit: on the other hand if Dan can get the XC wallet to work automatically behind university firewalls - which maybe he can - then that would be big bonus.

I wonder if we can make a regular http port 80 type block sync where it just download the blockchain regularly without using any special RPC type call?  It won't necessarily work for private transaction immediately nor XChat, but at least you can get the latest blockchain info?

That might work so you could at least have the wallet functioning regardless of firewalls. That would be a big plus - I was imagining for the private stuff to behave like firefox when it adds exceptions - i.e. it figures out there's a firewall blocking it and brings up an option to add an exception. No idea if this is possible generally even - it would have to be able to access the relevant info about your system.

Unless...  private transaction when it's multipath, can be packaged as non blockchain data that can be sent out through port 80 to nodes that other XNodes wallets can then download and relay it out as RPC?!??   Then... all wallets can be used regardless of if it's behind a firewall.   Of course, you will need XNodes that are not behind firewall to get those encrypted non RPC data and relay those out as RPC?    So, non firewalled XNode wallets can always help out those that are behind firewall  (non http port 80 blocked of course).

This sounds like a good solution, however, I would opt to go out on 443 as that would usually be open if 80 is open.  Tunnelling out on 443 is usually a good way to bypass firewalls.

Maybe you should rename "Messages" to "XChat" in the Wallet.

Disheartening again with how late it is on Sunday and no finished release. Price was just on the verge of breaking out too with closes above 185. I'm still incredibly bummed that I cannot test the main feature (private transfers) that was the reason I bought into this coin. Dan and I have been trying to troubleshoot it but we keep getting pushed back with issues that need fixing. *sigh*

If you are so disheartened, please go to Mintpal and sell to my bid now.   Is 4.5 btc enough?

if i were you i would Stop asking people to dump.... look what happened right after u wished for it....16 btc dump so no.... 4.5 was not enough  Shocked

Please dump me 34 BTC of XC. I will move the btc out to buy nxt again in 10hours if no one fills it.
You have 10hours to dump!

Thank YOU for your attention!

Orders Up! Unfortunately there is very low buy support so i'm going to put it at 130k.

I suggest you move on to another coin.

I get a connection
send version message: version 71030, blocks=0, us=95.91.241.176:32348, them=198.199.104.70:32348, peer=198.199.104.70:32348
socket closed

Then it disconnects

disconnecting node 198.199.104.70:32348

and tries next. Why ever. I never had that on a wallet.

trying connection 87.254.90.34:32348 lastseen=1.1hrs
connection timeout
trying connection 92.39.189.50:32348 lastseen=1.0hrs

Mine shows that in the log and I'm connected ok. Try those addnodes, restart and give it 10 mins to see what it does.

***The XC Daily Update***

Hello all

It's been confirmed by the developers that XChat will include voice calling in post-Rev 3 editions, and video calling further into the future.

So basically we have a decentralised, private, Skype.

Here's to the future!

I think you need to update the OP timeline with this extra info  Cool

this sunday?

Does this coin have POS?
Yes, it has POS. Probably best to discuss XC over at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=630547.0 and keep this thread to Key talk.

Dan here is a little look into the glass bowl of "forum psychology" befor considering that review.

Since you offered to do it and havent been approached this are the two possible outcomes:

1: Your review is positive like the keycoin one, Cloak PR knows how to capitalise on this and cloak will outperform XC short term (long term is the summ from alot of short terms) Cloak will officilly be no P&D anymore cause of Dan Metcalf approval stamp.Ratio between positive effect on XC and Cloak: 1 to 10 ( like keycoin)

2: your review is negative. since you asked to do it and not been asked you look like an ass that just wants to sabotage the competition leading up to our REV3 release. i know thats not your intentions but this is how its gonna be made to look , and as of now our community while having quality members doesn't have the manpower to equal out the perception.

No matter what this review will not turn out positiv for your project I'm 100% shure, and I'm good at anticipating people/crowd reactions.
I know you mean good but not now . please , please, please

+1. Only review if you are approached by the Cloakcoin Dev.

If Dan is really serious about chat and voice (video does not matter a lot currently) over the XC protocol, what can I say, this is a totally new, grandiose, multibillion market. And most importantly it means freedom of communications - the missing link in the IT sector (for now). Anyone selling below 0.25 BTC makes a big financial mistake, remember this statement till Christmas.

Yes I am very serious about this.  The current XChat test release is 100% secure in its communication channel[message layer] and combined with a new initiative that has already started [details next week], I expect the XC community will be very excited with whats coming.

Dan

Wow, more goodies  Shocked I can't wait.  Grin

Does anyone know why the max price graph on Mint just shows a flat line?
No, but you should not use it anyway as it gives you a exceptionally poor chart to work with. Don't trade off Mintpal charts.

***The XC Daily Update***

Hello all

Time to tell the secret...

Dan noted last night that XChat will be bundled into an updated TOR Stick.

On its own XChat is:

- based on the Xnode protocol, which is the foundation of XC's nodes.

- As it stands, XChat is a true P2P protocol, with no third parties/servers, making it very hard to attack.

- XChat is encrypted from end-to-end, so no-one can snoop on your messages.

But when combined with the TOR Stick:

- Your XChat app is inside the TOR cloud. This means no exit nodes will be used, so packet sniffers can't find your IP.

- As such, although TOR is normally vulnerable to packet sniffers, it isn't for XChat.

- Also, because XChat is true P2P, it's also not subject to the other TOR vulnerability, man-in-the-middle attacks.

- The TOR Stick is its own operating system; it leaves no trace on your computer once your remove it. (This is a little bit like Tails). So when you're done chatting to someone, nobody will be able to locate and steal your information.

As a result, XChat in the TOR Stick represents a landmark moment in messaging: true privacy.

The TOR Stick, with the latest XChat, will be available for download on Thur next week.

Fantastic !!!!!!!

Excellent presentation of the update  Cool

Friendly reminder :

Please don't hate on other coins in this thread. Other coins have a similar devoted community like us here at XC. Attacking the fundamentals of other coins is unprofessional. Also, remember that fud sticks to whoever posts it. We pride ourselves in being cool headed and courteous, whenever another coin gains some market recognition, congratulate them and focus on our own task. Remember that on a strategic level all coins that have legitimate development are an attempt to be free from the oppressive banking system and or privacy infringement. We are all pioneers albeit with different stakes or claims, battles should be fought against our shared adversary, not among ourselves.

Regardless if you support DRK, CLOAK or XC we are all crypto brothers.

Hello all

Today,
- Dan and Christian are working on... undisclosed tech

- Rob and I have been discussing media strategy for said undisclosed tech

- And you should retweet, like/share, and generally spread the following:

"Imagine instant messages did not disclose your IP, used no-one's servers, and left no trace on your computer. #XC #XChat #privacy #byebyeNSA"

Cheers pal!  Wish u could give eta, I'm getting excited,  but understand you can't.

What do you think about the paper Wallet conversation? Team got it planned?  Would you like someone from the community to do it if they can?

I like the idea. Anything that makes XC more concrete and physical is great.

By all means, community members are welcome to go for it.

If anyone makes a paper wallet generator, it's probably best to contact me or Dan afterwards. We could check the code, get a great UI designed, etc.

It has already been done. Just need a few edits on https://github.com/pointbiz/bitaddress.org and customise for XC.
