1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My latest adventures with GTX 1080 mining on: December 29, 2018, 07:47:14 PM
Latest update: Switched over to mining a much more profitable coin: plusonecoin. Using pool: fairmine.pro -- Feel free to come join me as I think I have 16% of the entire pools hash. I am mining with 4 GPU's. I have been mining for three days and my wallet has almost 200 coins with many more in the wings waiting to mature.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profit mining calculator. More Than 321 Exchanges!! More than 450 pool!! on: December 26, 2018, 05:02:07 AM
This is a very nice tool. I spent some time inputting some rough estimate values (later I corrected for accurate ones) and seeing what coins it recommended. In no time the tool put me on a very profitable coin. This was a newer coin I had never heard of; and that no one in the forums suggested to me or anyone else as far as I can see. So all I can say is good luck finding it without this tool Smiley

I am directly mining to BCD wallet. Zpool does not seem to let you pick a specific coin to mine. You pick the alog then the pool sends you jobs for all different coins that use that alog.

T-Rex is a bit faster and draws a bit more power:

Stock GPU settings using CryptoDredge and mining BCD (been running 3 days solid no issues):

So I have stayed with using CryptoDredge for my mining software. Software is very stable and easy to use. Spent a week trying different coins/wallets/pools. I really love the idea of zpool and wanted to make that work for my situation, but I find it just does not give me anyway to break even or get ahead. For coin selection - Bitcoin Diamond was the clear leader when it came to income. For pools I ended up choosing Minerscore (small but reasonable). If my current calculations are accurate I can mine roughly $1.40 of this coin each week. Hopefully the coin will appreciate over time as I expect, so that it is worth the time and effort. I hope this is helpful to someone getting started.

Crypto Dredge would be a good addition.

I pay 5 cents a kwh. Thanks everyone for the ideas and advice. For those of you who mention the noise level of asic based solutions there is a cheap solution. My brother use to have a bitmain mining bitcoin and he built a sound suppression chamber using and igloo cooler, duct tape, and some flexible duct work. Worked like a charm and cut the noise level to about 50% less. He ended up building some for a few of his friends.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoDredge 0.14.0 — NVIDIA GPU Miner on: December 11, 2018, 08:00:19 PM
I mine to Zpool. With Version .13 Skunkhash and Tribus were working well. In version .14 I receive extranounce2 errors. Wooops never mind I am getting it with both versions.

Thanks for providing this miner. One thing I think stands out that I have not seen mentioned: You can play games while you mine with this software. I have been using it with a Zotac 1080, 16GB ram, and and 8th generation I7 with  SSD. So far I have been able to easily configure it to mine 4 different algos and many more coins than I can list.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Looking for mining advice. Enjoy doing it as a hobby. on: December 11, 2018, 11:52:48 AM
So yeah I am a geek who likes to play around with equipment. So far I have stuck to a couple of single GPU card systems and a HP G7 server. Nothing new and pricey. Now I bought a new gaming PC and I got a Zotac 1080 with it and 8th generation I7. I grabbed a copy of the latest crypto dredge and started testing out what the new box could do. Started by mining a bunch of X-cash. Next, I pointed to Zpool and tried out lyra2rev2, phi, polytimos, and bcd. BCD seems the most profitable but also it is hard to "find". Polytimos is easy to find but 1/3 the profit.  Based on my rough calculations I think I can generate about $9 -$10 of bitcoin in about three weeks with this 1 new PC. It has been fun to get back into the mix. I would consider grabbing some asic based setup, but would not be willing to spend thousands of dollars to do it; and also would prefer 120v so it could just heat my man cave. Any advice for my hobby would be much appreciated. I am not trying to make a bunch of money and I would be happy just paying for my hobby over a reasonable time frame. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry that you lost your funds. The truth is it can happen to ANYONE. Wallets are not as secure as people think. Don't believe me...

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EVERYTHING Miners Need To Know About GPU Warranties | BEST? Worst? Transfer? on: August 01, 2018, 02:31:14 PM
I have had some very good experiences with EVGA cards/warranties. EVGA use to sell lifetime warranties. I returned a card for repair that had a lifetime warranty and the replacement is still going strong. I tend to hold on to video cards for a long time. I have three GTX 970's. Two I bought from craigslist. One had major issues and could not mine at all. Turns out, it was still under warranty and I got a replacement from EVGA in 3 days! I have bought extended warranties on all my EVGA video cards and have used those warranties three times with great results. I highly recommend EVGA.

I don't see any profitable options for mining with your power costs and that hardware. It would make more sense to invest directly into the currency you feel has the best profit potential. Good Luck!
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining Talk] Which coins have you been mining for more than 1 month? on: March 23, 2018, 04:06:53 AM
Swissboo -

To be honest profitability overall is trending down but I am not discouraged. Last I checked each card is averaging $.55 a day which means I am still well ahead of electrical cost.

I was mining Eth for maybe 6 months straight. Got my payout and did some checking. I have some older cards and I switched them all over to Btg since they get a decent return on it. Will take the earnings and buy Eth & Ltc.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Altcoins or buying them from mined ethereum ? Strategy ? on: March 21, 2018, 09:54:48 PM
I think it is good to diversify into a few different coins. Not a bad idea to hold a small position in a speculative coin. I have bought those small positions with my mined coins. Only time will tell if I made good picks, but even if I didn't I am only losing mined earnings Smiley
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is your prospective about short term mining coin picking? on: March 20, 2018, 06:33:41 PM
When I started mining I did a bunch of trial and error and I learned a lot doing this. I have tired a few different approaches suggested on this forum. In my experience I have found it is best to mine the must valuable coin that you think is the best one. If the hardware you have is not up to this than mine the most valuable coin your hardware supports and convert it over to the above coin. Now if you want to speculate on something new or that you don't own buy some using your exchange balance. My two favorite coins are Bitcoin and Etherum. The speculative coins I have bought and mined are ripple, zec, and btg. I continue to mine Etherum. I have not had any reason to cash anything out. My future plan is to wait for the value to peak and then sell enough to at least recoup my initial investment and maybe take some profit to buy something nice. I will leave the rest for a rainy day.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [fastminer] v1.0 released -- FREE ETH miner on: March 12, 2018, 02:49:28 AM
Thanks for providing this. I am testing it on Windows 7 and it is working. Might be a tad slower than claymore but free is priced right for me. I will see how it does and may try it on Win 10.

Turns out my Windows 10 rigs are suffering the same issue. For now I have switched them to PhoenixMiner. It is a tad slower but at least it is working !
