1  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Airbitz on: January 17, 2018, 06:22:16 AM
Edge uses the same backend as Airbitz. Think of it as a multi asset Airbitz 2.0. You will be able to just login to Edge with your Airbitz credentials and see all your funds in Edge. Don’t worry. We wouldn’t leave our Airbitz users out in the cold.
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying from an exchange directly into my wallet? on: June 07, 2017, 06:47:52 PM
Absolutely. Give Airbitz a try. It is integrated with Kraken/Glidera and when you buy/sell bitcoin it goes directly to your wallet.
3  Other / MultiBit / Re: Help... why is my bitcoin transaction from blockchain taking over 24 hours? on: January 25, 2017, 01:05:07 PM
Hi,

With the tiny information you gave I can tell that:
* The network is very busy. The mempool (not yet processed transactions) is 37 MB instead of the usual / nice 2-8 MB.
* There's a high chance the tx fee you paid is small, much smaller than the currently recommended 100 satoshi / byte.

I recommend Electrum, where I know for sure that you can adjust the fee by hand before sending.

Edit: if you send the tx ID I can see how small your fee was. I look here to see how busy the network is and what fee I should use.
Edit2: another recommended wallet is the Bitcoin QT, where afaik you can have all the control you need (even re-send the transaction with higher fee), but I don't use that one.

Thanks for the tips, okey i realize the "fee" when doing a transaction is something i've always ignored, and it's not an option to set it in the bitcoin wallet i use, which makes me believe perhaps it wasn't a thing when i started using bitcoin 3 years ago? It appears the fee for this transaction was 0.0001 btc or 0.09$ i don't know if that's 100 satoshis or not but i guess i'm below the limit to get prioritized.

So from what i understand the transcation rates are slower these days because more transactions are occuring? That means more people are using bitcoin?

I'll look into moving my stuff into another bitcoin client for now, thanks

0.0001 is really small for the current network conditions as we're typically seeing 0.0002 to 0.0003 for a small transaction. Give Airbitz a try as it very dynamically calculates fees based on the network condition as well as the size (in bytes) of your transaction and amount of your transaction. airbitz.co/app
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My Coinbase account closed, Help please! on: January 21, 2017, 09:05:41 AM
If you are NOT in New York, then give Airbitz a try. You can buy and sell through our integration with Kraken/Glidera right from within the iOS app in 49 states. And unlike Coinbase you fully control your bitcoin and get full privacy as well. Your wallet account can't be closed.

3.   NFC Pay tapping - 1 Tap = 1 Pay

Not possible. At least not with one tap. You need 1 tap to request the address and amount to send to, then the wallet signs, and then one more tap to send the signed transaction. The reason 1 Tap = 1 Pay works with credit cards is because it's the equivalent of tapping to give the merchant your private key, and then having them only pull out what they need.
Why to send signed transaction by NFC instead releasing it directly to Bitcoin network by smartphone's Internet connection?

You are right. You can do 1 device-to-device tap to pay as long as the Sender is broadcasting out the message directly to the network using their internet connection. Another way is to use both NFC and bluetooth (BLE) and tap to get URI and BLE communications key via NFC, then use BLE to talk to device and send Tx after.

Airbitz actually has the one tap method functional in our next release which should be out this week. Here's a video of it working

6  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Airbitz Wallet Update Re: Introducing Airbitz, Bitcoin Wallet on: November 22, 2014, 03:02:58 AM
Hi Everyone.

Airbitz just launched version 1.3 of our mobile bitcoin wallet this week and we implemented features from users' feedback:

- If the app gets shutdown due to a reboot, crash (ugh), or OS just shutting down the app, you can now re-login using just your PIN. Note that a timer auto-logout and an explicit Logout from Settings will still require a full password.
- We've added spending limits! You can now specify a threshold of spending that would require a PIN, and a daily threshold above which would require a password. Great for sharing an account with restricted access such as for merchants letting staff use Airbitz as a POS.
- You can now share a business listing using Email, SMS, Twitter, Facebook or other apps on your device.
- You can now view business listing social media pages (Twitter, Facebook, Google+) pages at the tap of a button

Hope you all enjoy, and please send us feedback at info@airbitz.co

7  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: iPhone wallets that correctly use change addresses? on: November 22, 2014, 02:57:54 AM
Are there any iPhone wallets that correctly return the change of a transaction into a newly generated address, much like Electrum does?

BitWallet does not do this.

Airbitz always generates a new address. Not just for change, but also for new receive requests. Give it a shot http://airbitz.co
8  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Introducing Airbitz, Bitcoin Wallet and Business Directory on: November 22, 2014, 02:55:34 AM
The new PIN works great, good work.  Just two usability issues remain:

1. The "Receive" screen still defaults to USD (useless for me, since I want to see what I am sending in GBP).

2. As mentioned above, the back button tends to exit app completely rather than return to the previous screen.  So if I open airbitz now on my Android phone (still open in memory), it will open to the last screen I was looking at (let's say "Receive").  If I navigate to "Send" and then hit the back button, the app will close (rather than go back to "Receive" or home/directory). Maybe returning to the directory before closing the app is the answer.

To default to GBP, you need to create a new wallet that is a "GBP" wallet. Each wallet has a fiat currency permanently tied to it. The wallet will forever save that fiat currency's value at the time of the transaction.

Love your app.
I am a miner and heavy user with a lot transactions. I have switched to your app as my main wallet(s).
Really like how you have been economical in style but feature rich.
Wish you had a PC app like blockchain though. Please tell me it's on the development list.

No PC app in development, but our wallet uses a C/C++ cross platform library for almost all of the wallet functionality. If someone wanted to port it to desktop, they'd just have to rewrite the UI keeping all the wallet code intact.

Thanks for using the wallet!

Congrats on the release, etc.  Just a couple of minor bugs/complaints:

1. I know you're going for an online banking app feel, but entering the password each time is a bit of a pain. It seems to happen too often for me.  Perhaps make it optional (i.e. user logs out) or let the user play with the auto log out settings?  Even better, spend limits for PIN only operations?

2. I set the currency to GBP but there are still instances of amounts being displayed in USD (e.g. when requesting funds).

3. Would be nice to default to wallet view, rather than directory.

1. Our next release will allow you to re-login using just your PIN. This required careful crafting of our security model to retain the same level of security (no unencrypted data on device storage). We will also have spending limits (daily spending limits and a limits that doesn't require the PIN).

2. That should be fixed as well

3. I hear you, but we've gotta pay the bills, and we'll be monetizing the directory soon. You're always just one tap away from Send, Receive, and Wallets! Smiley

If you want a mobile wallet (iOS / Android), I'd recommend Airbitz. I'm a little biased since I co-founded the company, but I really think we've put privacy, ease of use, and ease of security front and center.

  • Create an account in the app with just username & password. No email or phone number needed. No printing PDFs or writing down passphrases
  • Login to account with any number of mobile devices using same username & password
  • Account is fully encrypted client-side, using user's credentials, and backed up to peer-to-peer servers
  • Wallet accesses decentralized Libbitcoin/Obelisk servers to send/recv transactions
  • No unencrypted user info, keys, or even public addresses are stored on our servers.
  • Tag your transactions with rich metadata (Payee, Category, Notes)
  • Built in merchant directory for 16 countries with 3500+ listings

Hope you enjoy it.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How anonymous is Bitcoin? on: November 06, 2014, 08:23:44 AM
I can't help wonder sometimes, say I have 10 BTC in X address, if I send them to Y address, I have 10 BTC in the wallet with the Y address.

Say I create another address for the same wallet with Y addy, will anyone be able to know if I spend some of that 10 BTC?

If yes can you please explain how? It's still unundeerstandable for me, since the blockchain only deals with addresses, how can btc be linkable to wallets?

Other than that, if I send the 10 btc to Y address, will anyone be able to get all the addresses of the same wallet? Thanks!

You can constantly change your addresses manually to help stay "more" anonymous but it's never perfect. Best to use an HD wallet that changes addresses for you with each transaction. ie. Airbitz or Mycelium. This gives you basic privacy at no additional effort to you.
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: blockchain.info on: November 06, 2014, 08:20:28 AM
Hello,
I recently started using blockchain to make some small payments
https://blockchain.info/nl/address/16w7viWCHAygsQtMUNZzn7xk987pgJKn5i
but every time i make a transaction i need to wait at least 1 confirmation before i can do the next one

The Airbitz wallet will not require you to wait a full confirmation to spend "change" from a previous spend. It only requires you to wait for confirmations before spending funds you receive from an outside source. Check out the wallet for iOS or Android at http://airbitz.co/app

Warning to anybody considering using this, if you don't control the private keys, you don't own the bitcoins. This reminds me too much of inputs.io

Agree with RGBKey. If you don't own the private keys, you don't own your bitcoin! You are simply depositing money in a bank where funds can be seized, frozen, or stolen. In addition, they need to store most funds in cold storage for security thereby making transfers possibly take VERY long if their hot wallet gets drained by users.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to say bitcoin did its job? on: February 26, 2014, 03:42:07 PM
Yes. By not being bailed out with inflated bitcoin. Mtgox took down the money of ONLY those people who made the decision to keep their money in a clearly failing company. Everyone else was spared the potential inflation needed to bail them out. This is the free market at work.
