No updates. But not forgotten.

Glad it's not forgotten - it'd be great to find this guy. Especially now!

So I've just updated to the latest XBC wallet, I let it re-index and sync but now I seem to be about 22 XBC short.

What could have caused that to happen?

You could load up a backup of the old wallet in the old client and then compare it side by side in coin control to see the difference but the best thing to do is contact Peter Bushnell through contactus@bitcoinplus.org or through twitter, reddit or telegram and he will look into it further if nescessary.

Nice one thanks - I'll drop Peter an email. Thanks for the help Smiley

What could have caused that to happen?
options:

-reindex

-rescan

.conf

reindex=1

rescan =1

Had a quick look in ~/ but couldn't find the XBC conf file. Sorry, it's been a while since I've had to edit a .conf file.

I assume i'm looking in the correct place?

Thanks for your help Smiley

Poloniex has already made delisting of coins, although a month ago the coins were removed from the exchange at 23:59, and now at about 4:30 pm.
Poloniex, you fucking devils. Correctly written above, this exchange sold the soul to the devil, I will never again deal with scam like Polo.

It's disappointing to be delisted after so many years on Poloniex but development will continue now at an even more increased rate now that our codebase is going to be easier to build stuff on so hopefully exchanges will see the advantages having us listed on their exchanges without charging unaffordable fees.Onwards and upwards.

I think that is one of the issues with a proof of stake coin, people tend to hold instead of trade lots. That's kind of what I've been doing for a while anyway.

It's good that it makes interest but then what I'd do is to trade those profits.

Does that now mean that XBC isn't listed anywhere now?

It's on cryptopia, coinexchange, tradebytrade,Tradesatoshi. The more people who trade it the better chance other exchanges will pick it up. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin-plus/#markets

Nice one thanks - might do some profit trading then Smiley

Unlike the last lot we are getting all the nescessary technical stuff done.We could do with a bit more community support though. If people who hold the coin do nothing then they don't have any right to complain really.

It'd be good to know some of the things needing done. I think a lot of us are just holding because that's the most sensible thing to do right now.

We all want to see XBC succeed, it there are jobs that need done there's, I think, a pretty good skill set here?

Just need to know what needs done, as I totally understand if you're just a small team there's a lot of work.

I would Like Some help to build a windows Client. I Have Built in the current bitcoin build environment using Debian, But I'm not at all sure if I would attract any Users. does anyone know if there are any BTc pools still out there running these Days, I Think it would be great if we all showed the Coinplorer guys some love for providing this service, and if we let them know how great Bytecoin is, However this basic idea is to accept the block with the highest difficulty instead of the block that is first.  Then, to keep accepting blocks for at least an hour since the 6th previous block. so for a one man band you're doing a Simply Amazing job...!

Can you build the most recent ahmed-bodi Git for windows?
If so, publish the sha-256 for the binary here.  We'll figure out how to transfer a copy to me, we might use scp to my machine using your public key.  I can put together an IPv6 website pretty easily.

https://github.com/ahmedbodi/bytecoin

Sorry I should have read things properly - I assume we're still working from the GitHub link there just now?

Hi prof,

It's been a while since I've actively mined and compiled a wallet. I helped out with BTE way back and still have a wallet.

I've got a virtual Ubuntu box setup and would like to see what's in my wallet and, for now, if you think it's still viable do some GPU / CPU mining.

Just wondering what the best repo is to compile from?

Thanks Smiley

is this a 1:1 swap with bitcoin?

Basically yes - the Prof is working hard on it and I think he'll be better to enlighten on the progress, but I think a lot of that has been covered in earlier posts.

As to when new client will be ready for release the short answer August without factoring in Murphy's law.
We expect to rebase after Peter gets back from holiday, even if we managed to do it before he would not want the client released while away in case we did get an unexpected fork.He will need to be available during the process.

The forum kinda needs a "like" button - nice work guys it's great to see an active dev team.

I think that's most likely the quickest route to failure, dev's that lose interest or just created a pump and dump coin.

Keep it up and I'm sure there's a community of us willing to help out too (in whatever way we can)
13  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: YouTube premium on: July 03, 2018, 07:14:56 AM
There are so many subscription models now. It's too easy to get an adblocker, rendering income from ads non-existent.

I have been giving youTube red a go, just so it stopped interrupting things I was watching with an ever increasing amount of ads.

It's not been bad so far.

The subscription model is taking off everywhere, spotify, iTunes, Adobe, LOTS of internet services; cloud flare for one.

With the likes of Adobe, if, like me you use it daily it kind of makes sense. You always have the cutting edge software, it works great (I've tried, really tried to find an alternative that replaces it at a cheaper price... no joy so far).

I think if you only watch youtube occasionally it's not worth it, if you watch it a lot it's worth the month's free trial at least.

Is a block explorer going to be made available?

This coin is not compatible with blockexplorers, sorry.

It should be able to have a block explorer being a BTC clone shouldn't it?

Just a heads up here but once SegWit goes live old clients will no longer be able to create blocks. It is set to only accept version bits only blocks past activation. We still will have to test both the old and new clients together to make sure the old ones can send TXs. BIP66 enforces Strict DER Encoding so some reference implementations might have issues if you've got old BitcoinJS based systems around.

I presume you'll give us the heads up on here when it's time to download the new client?

Will the Mac one be available too?

thanks Smiley

I will indeed and there should be a Mac one done along with windows version.Linux users may have to compile one themselves but I will try to get one precompiled too.

Awesome thanks and looking forward to it Smiley

Can I buy 10 coins from anyone?

If I could compile on a Mac - yes Smiley - I might have to spin up an ubuntu box and see if I can get my old wallet working again.

Just a bit busy at the moment.

I still have all the old website files if anyone wants to reinstate that side of it. It's probably a bit dated now but would give BTE a web presence again.

XBC is a good coin, now the volume is decent, people should trade more otfen so that we can be listed there. Poloniex usually delists some inactive coins with low volumes, so do more trading, let us survive.

I was just thinking the same thing. But unfortunately Poloniex don't give you any of the PoS profits if you hold XBC there.

I'd imagine this is why the volume is low, people are staking the coin on they're own systems.

Hi - I'm having a bit of trouble in that I've been away for a few days so turned my computer off. Before then my wallet was all up to date and in sync, now I can't get any connections at all though, despite having left the wallet open for hours with a continuous internet connection.

Not sure why it's decided it doesn't want to connect but any help would be great.

Thanks Smiley

If you are running it on Tor you could try switching over to standard I2P connection to get it synced.Sometimes the Tor wallet can find it hard to connect to relays due to it using an older Tor bundle.

If that doesn't work maybe backup wallet.dat and keys for any addresses with balances on them. Then slide out your wallet.dat from the data files in (search for  %appdata% ) and let it load with a new wallet.dat and see if it syncs. If it works just slide back in the original one.

Great got it thanks. Turning Tor off for now has got it syncing up.

Nice one!

So whilst I did get it synced without Tor, I can't get it to work with Tor anymore.

Is it better to have it running with Tor or will it not affect the usage really?

It should still work with Tor.I ran it there and it had almost 30 connections but took ages to get the initial connection. It makes no difference to performance re:staking etc on standard I2P and you should always have at least 4 connections and much quicker to sync.

Tor is only for extra privacy layer but its going to be an external client after the upgrade anyway because we can't get the native client to work on 0.13 version. We will try to resolve that later of course because some community members prefer the client to have native Tor.

Awesome thanks for the info. I'll leave Tor off for the time being then since it seems to be working fine without it Smiley
