You need to follow these steps in this thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

Try to find some old posts from before it was hacked where you posted
your BTC address. You'll need one to prove you are the owner of the address.
(use the search feature)

If you need help signing a message check here:

Goodluck!!!

Wow, I forgot about address signing.

Thank you for the help. Smiley

Hi,

I was a long-time user of the Bitcoin forum from 2013 to 2015, under the username RichG (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=78788). Today, I tried to sign in to my account again, and I found out that my account had been taken over by someone else. They had completely locked me out of my account and reset the account email address.

Luckily, they did not take the time to change my profile photo. My account's profile photo is a photo of my yellow cat, sitting in a flowerpot. This image is also hosted on my web server (PM for the link), albeit at a much higher resolution.

Also, legitimate logins to my account (RichG) almost universally come from Kansas IP addresses owned by Cable One (like the one I'm posting from right now), and occasionally a Verizon or AT&T mobile IP, from Chrome on Windows 7, Linux, or Android. The impostor appears to be from China.

Is there any way to recover my old account?
