This looks like a good place to start.

Not sure how many people would be willing to go along with a lawsuit of any kind but you can count me in.

I think one of the hashing boards in one of my November Jupiters just failed.

Basically, whenever I connect power to this board, it seems to short out the power supply so the power supply won't turn on. I've tried two different power supplies, and the same thing happens with them both when this board is plugged in.

The unit runs fine with the other three hashing boards plugged into the power supply.

I'm going to remove the bad board and inspect it tonight, but I think it's done.

This Jupiter started acting up a week ago and would randomly stop hashing, and I suspect this was the cause.

Wow that sucks. Remember you are SOL if you try and RMA it. knfail decided to alter the T&C to now state only a 3 month warranty on any of their products, unless you have a copy that you printed out with your order.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 17, 2014, 02:00:51 PM
Actually I think KnC gets more shit than they are worth. They promised to send the Neptune before Q2 end and they still didn't break that promise. They've even doubled everyone's order for FREE something they didn't have to do. What happen to the 400 Jupitors is a little sad, however they seem to take responsibility for that too. Last problem is the refund wish take's some however sending hundreds of thousands of dollars around the world to lot's of different people is not easy. And the refunds seems to be turning up in the end after all!

So don't hate to much on them, they're doing great in my opinion. That the difficulty in bitcoin mining is going up so fast is not really their fault and clearly no one who ordered a Neptune was suspecting that.

They also only warranty their products for 3 months now not 12.

Did anyone get an email or letter that knc changed their T&C? I have a copy of their t&c that states there is a 12 month warranty on their products. If you look now they only state 3 month warranty. This should also be a red flag for ALL orders with them not just fail joops . Neppys, Titians etc etc.

Maybe they had 12 months for Jupiters and now they have 3 months for Neptunes and Titans.

That is the reason why KNC don't deliver with a contact plug. If there was a contact plug, according to the EU rules, suppliers are forced to give 2 years warranty, no matter what the Terms and Conditions are. Even Apple, they advertised with "one year warranty" and "you can buy an extra year warranty to make it 2 years". The European court forced Apple succesfully to give every customer in the EU 2 years full warranty without extra payment because the iPhone could not be used with the delivered loader. The delivered loader has a contact plug. So every product with a contact plug has standard 2 years of warranty in the EU, no matter where produced.

My question is: If they changed their T&C without notifying the customers of the change does that constitute a "Breach of Contract"?

- refunding KNC
A lawsuit about refunding shall not stand at this moment, because there was no commitment about the time between a refund request and the payment. According to EU rules, the Judge agreed with 30 days as reasonable. After this period you must send them a minimum of 3 letters in 21 days. After that, you have the right to start a lawsuit. There is a maximum of total 14% interest and costs, starting from the day that they are dilatory. Excluding the costs of your lawyer.

- delivering Neptune
Buyers agreed with the delivery of physical machine in the period of Q1/Q2 2014, so the first of July is a good time to send them a minimum of 3 request letters in 21 days. After that, you have the right to start a lawsuit. There is a maximum of total 14% interest and costs, starting from the day that they are dilatory. Excluding the costs of your lawyer. You have the full right to reject "Plan B" because you bought a machine. You cannot be forced to accept cloudhashing because in the moment you bought the machine, you have the intention to buy a real machine delivered in hand, based on the information showed on the website. You had the impression of a real machine, not a totally different product. No matter if the Terms and Conditions has small letters about this change. Suppliers are not allowed to misguide customers. You can reject "Plan B" and demand for a real machine. And when the supplier cannot deliver, you can immediate demand a refund based on dilatory.

- delivering Jupiter
According to the terms and conditions, buyers must do an RMA request. The supplier has the right to investigate the product for a reasonable period of 8 days. After this period, the supplier is supposed to fix the problem, or to refund (the part) of the product as soon as possible, because of the specific nature of the product. Jupiter buyers have 90 days to request. When buyers are not satisfied with the solution, they must notice the supplier with a well-documented letter. When the supplier reject this letter, than its time for a lawsuit. You can tell the Judge that you want a refund because you have no longer trust in the supplier or you can force the supplier with a period to fix the problems. There is a maximum of 14% interest and cost, starting from the day that they reject your last letter. Excluding the costs of your lawyer.
>> when you receive your RMA parts, save your UPS letter, because for the RMA parts, a new warranty period of 90 days is starting, no matter what their Terms and Conditions tells. Mark your RMA cards an take a picture with the UPS letter and keep it in a save place.
>> I think there are not much Jupiter buyers, count the usernames on this forum and on the KNC forum. Maybe 30-40.
>> When you wanted a full refund without a difficult lawsuit, you had to send back the delivered boxes as soon as you received and opened it.

- Terms and Conditions
Companies can change their conditions, but they must send these new Terms and conditions to the customers and they must agree with the new terms. When they (the customers) not agree, they have 30 days the right to break the (buying) contract. So when you have a copy of these Terms and conditions, datet on the moment of payment, keep it save. For the Jupiter clients: at the moment you agreed with the Jupiter, you also accepted the actual (new) Terms and Conditions.

So starting a lawsuit now is too early, but preparing, case building and collecting knowledge, facts and evidence is a very good start.

We can of course offer you any RMA boards that are broken.

I am assuming that the complete 18 ASIC boards from the 1st shipment are completely destroyed and that you are talking about the 7 ASIC boards from the replacement shipment that are broken.

In that case, you will need to send back the original 18 ASIC boards + the 7 from the replacement shipment that are broken. Once we receive these we can then issue you the 7 boards to complete your 3TH/s unit.

Please let me know if that is correct?

Great.... So what that means is they are going to take all those boards clean them up and ship them to some other poor fool even if they only partially hash, or put them back online at the dator hall. Makes me want to set mine up at the range and put a 7.62x39 right down the center of the asic and send it back.

Those caps look as if they didn't get much flux, and knocked-off fairly easy, and clean. Most of The caps in the pics look like they would solder right back on. Most of the components which came loose look re-usable even, although some look like garbage. The boards are pretty beefy, and the solder points are large. I bet a good portion of the PCB's could be fixed with minimal effort, while others are not.
Someone should head up a group buy effort, and hire a bulk repair shop to whip them out. once they see how simple the repairs actually are, it may be worth the effort... just sayin'.
some place like this....      http://sybesmas.com/site/   could make easy work of a stack of those boards

I have a local guy who did just that for me. He works out of his house but dude is totally awesome and fixed 5 boards for me (re soldered the knocked off pieces) all in an hours time. 4 out of the 5 cards worked and hashed just fine, Don't know what happened to the last one. Just never powered up. I can see if I can work out a deal with him if anyone wants to have their boards fixed. Price seemed fair @ $40.00 per board...

i read alot about those frankenjups being built from used parts. is there any proof for that? i mean was there dust in the coolers or something like that?

Thermal paste and fingerprints all over the place on the cards. Some of them smell like mold.

I just want to make sure I am reading this right.. You are selling 3.5Th for over $12K USD when the forum is running rampant with more power efficient 1Th/s systems just over $2K, say $6.5K for 3.5Th/s..

It's so high I want to make sure you didn't make a mistake with your asking price..

No mistake. OBO

I don't see any 1 th miners for 2k that can be in hand in by tomorrow.... Nor do I see them shipping with 3 1200w platinum PSU's...

Not tomorrow but within days.  S2 is $2200 after $400 coupon and the Bit-tech 950 GH/s A1 clone is $2150.

PSU's included already.

Yeah I have had my fair share of issues with bitmain.. No reboot after power hit, issues with SDs.... These are KnC cards that are up and running no issues. When running 3k+ watts its just dumb imo to run anything less than a plat psu.

So I went all "datorhall" on my set up. Was able to drop my temps by over 10c.  chugging away at 3.5 TH/s

how is this getting 3.5 when its only 17 boards

4 more boards not in the picture on the bottom rack and some OCing

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 06, 2014, 03:27:51 AM

I used the foam that came in the cases to line up the boards and add uniform pressure against the shelves. So I basically sandwiched them using the adjustable shelves. All the cards work but the bean head didn't know how to count to 18 when he was counting the data cables so I got shorted 1.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: May 06, 2014, 03:18:46 AM

Was not going to wait for anything else before I got these damn things up and running. I actually use the shelf I have to squeeze the sinks to the boards better than the shit cases they sent the boards in.
