1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.5.0: CPU/GPU/FPGA/ASIC mining software, GBT+Stratum, RPC, Linux/Win64 on: July 21, 2019, 09:43:31 PM
Hi All,

Does anyone know how to set BFGMiners extranonce2_size to be 4 or is 2 hard coded?

I'm using --stratum-port:9332 and this is working. When I connect to the server I get:

'Subscribed! extranonce1=ff extranonce2=8a76 extranonce2_size=2'

However when I connect to antpool I get:

'Subscribed! extranonce1=4a000200 extranonce2=b0743a6f extranonce2_size=4'

I'd prefer BFGMiners extranonce2_size to be 4. I've upgraded bitcoind to 0.18.0 in case extranonce2 was set their, but no change or improvement noticed.

Thank you.
James.

Hi, my user name is mine4.com, I would like to make a small edit on the p2pool page.

Thank you.

Hey People,
i need an P2Pool Mining Server to connect my Miner. is there one without or low Fee, free for all ?
i used befor 178.63.18.3:9332 but it seams to denie my get works quests :-/

Hi Xantus,

I have stratum+tcp://5.133.177.158:9332 avaliable on p2pool mainnet or stratum+tcp://5.133.177.158:9334 if you prefer to mine on p2pool\jtoomim (both with a low 0.5% fee and 0.5% donation to the developer). I'm in Sheffield, England (UK) so depending on your location it may or may not be quicker. See my site www.mine4.com for more info and current ping times from your location.

Jtoomim,

Is a merge of the two networks a possibility? Main net has increased to 3.1Ph/s and Jtoomim to 7.6Ph/s. A combined 10.7Ph/s would be good to see and may help attract more to the pool. Also the mainnet reward is much more often in line with jtoomim these days. Presumably some development has taken place there...?

All the best.
James.

Given current fees on the Bitcoin network, in order for donations to be spendable, you need to give more than the fee it would cost to spend it. Currently, that's about 500 sat/byte * 200 bytes = 0.001 BTC per user, minimum. Given how many users there are and the hashrate distribution, a donation smaller than about 0.1 BTC would end up mostly wasted on fees.

I've updated the script. It will now trigger when the account balance is at 0.1 BTC or higher, and pays out to 0.001 BTC.

I'v also just finished a python script to trigger the donate to miners as detailed on https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/P2Pool#Donating_to_P2Pool_miners

I don't have bitcoin to test this with but if anyone's willing to give it a go the details are below. The BTC addresses are assigned to different accounts and a cron job monitors their balance. When it is at or above 0.005 it will trigger the sendmany command and payout to 0.0001. Any remaining balance is allocated at random (see the wiki).

Donate to the pool

If you would like to support the miners currently active in either pool please send a BTC donation to one of the addresses below. Your donation will be distributed fairly amongst the miners within that pool, using the payment method detailed on the wiki.

P2Pool\P2Pool - 1KvL1pzHzkF6HR2BwoBi12UQUg7N1GtDYV
P2Pool\Jtoomim - 1AZ5VJkgsTtvUMYQZ3JRGLRZ6VxqsrcPVw

I appreciate that this is a feature that may not be used all that much these days. I just thought this may make it more accessible for those who don't run a p2pool node.

Hi All,

I'm mining on p2pool\p2pool and p2pool\jtoomim (S3 miner set to load balance). The share dificulty of the pools are very different. On p2pool I have 34 shares in 3 days, but on jtoomim I dont have any shares over the last 3 days and my projected BTC is 0. The exspected time to share is only 8.6 hours.

I'm worried I've missed something. Is there anything I should check?

p2pool - http://www.mine4.com:9332/static/
jtoomim - http://www.mine4.com:9334/static/

Thank you.
James.

(My pool is getting close to being ready for testing. Just waiting on being assigned another static IP from my ISP. If your in or close to the UK and fancy giving it a go please let me know how you get on. www.mine4.com)

Are you using the most recent version of 1mb_segwit? Can you post the log output in code tags?

I'm unsure how to check the 1mb_segwit. I'm used 'git clone https://github.com/jtoomim/p2pool' to get the program, is the 1mb_segwit part of that download or is there a command I'm missing?
Code:
cd p2pool
git checkout 1mb_segwit

The git checkout 1mb_segwit didn't work initially so I deleted p2pool and re-cloned it. I did the git checkout 1mb_segwit again and now it seems to be running. I'll let it synchronise through the night and see how its going in the morning. Thank you all for the help.

208.84.223.121:9334 is live and running. If you can't connect to it, there's a problem on your end, possibly with your firewall configuration or your internet connectivity. You should be able to browse 208.84.223.121:9334 in a web browser, for example.

Hi Jtoomim,

I'm able to access 208.84.223.121:9334 from a browser on the PC that I'm running jtoomim on. But when i run ./run_p2pool.py I'm still getting the handshake error.

Any thoughts what I may need to look at? I thought about opening a port, but its happy to run mainnet without the port open.

Thank you.
James.

Thank you Jtoomim for your reply.

I've downloaded p2pool/jtoomim from Git and its running. Its been running a while (1hr~) showing 'p2pool is not connected to any peers' and 'Handshake timed out, disconnecting from 208.84.223.121:9334'

Is there a way I can add known live peers/nodes?

Thank you.

Hi All, I've be mining on and off for a couple of years now and only recently become aware of p2pool. I have installed the software from https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool and after a few tweaks its up and running.

I installed the p2pool/p2pool version as I figured it was the official one. I've since found jtoomim/p2pool on Git also (it is discussed on this thread back on August 28th). They mention that the jtoomim version has a significant speed advantage and potentially larger payouts.

Could someone please tell me which is the one I should be using? Are they the same network, or have the different forks become separate peer2peer networks in their own right?

Any information regarding the differences in the versions would be appreciated.

Thank you.
James.
