I don't gamble, since it looks like people usually lose.

With difficulty as high as it is now, solo mining is pretty much impossible.

Yeah, difficulty is exponentially growing.
Every 2016 blocks, it increases by a factor of 1.4...
|

I like offline wallets, because you can't ddos them.
But syncing for me took over a day when I first installed the client.
|

It's hard to predict how many people have a bitcoin wallet, but it's probably in the millions.
December 31 isn't very far from now, so I'm guessing about $140.

Especially with exponentially increasing difficulty, it probably won't be very profitable a short time from now.

You can back up your wallet by going to File>Backup Wallet
Or you can just store your coins in an online wallet

At 40 mhps, you aren't going to make much, especially with exponentially growing difficulty.
|
|
|
|
|
Mining isn't profitable anymore, you should try visiting faucets.
|
|
|
