Fucking cunts are costing me money, I got multiple defective RX480 4GB cards.

At least it's defective from the beginning, and part of the VRM doesn't blow up instead bringing the whole rig down.
The image proxy of the forum hates huge threads, so I can't find the post itself, but somebody uploaded a picture of it:

The problem is the lack of at least a single reliable manufacturer. Almost every series of cards in the past few years had blowing up VRM: 7000 series Gigabytes, 300 series Sapphire, and now 400 series MSI.

Is the GPU with higher hash rate in the main PCI-e slot? (GPU0)

The one with the exact same Hynix memory is in the slot, but another 470 4GB in a riser is happily pushing 186-189, so bandwidth isn't an issue.

Mine are at 190H/s with 1350 Core and 1800 Mem. It has the 1500 Straps but that doesn't make a difference.

Also noticed that memory barely makes a difference, but something else does. I did everything as usual, the only difference is that I haven't used H81 Pro BTC and these exact 470s before, that's why I'm trying to find a possible issue in hardware before I get into the shitty process of reinstalling the whole system.

Is anyone having success with MSI 470 Gaming X 4GB?

Had various GPUs, they were all working fine, but then I bought some of the mentioned MSIs, put them on a Pro BTC, and no matter what I do, they are significantly slower than others.

Modded straps, increased power limit, modified both TDP and TDC, decreased current scale, lowered intensity, decreased target temperature for lower temperatures, but none of these helped.
They are working at 155-170 H/s, while another GPU with the same memory on the same settings is at 189-190 H/s with no problem at all.

I'd like to reserve 8

The pop doesn't happen until someone physically turns the machine back on after the actual failure.  So there's no risk of causing a fire while nobody is around.

Most of the pops really happen when the machine is getting powered on, but it's not always the case. I had one card under frequent monitoring because of the 2 already failed capacitors, when I noticed the sudden stop of fan noise followed by the strong burnt smell. Third pop... it was time to kill it, because I didn't plan to get one more barely alive card back from the shitty RMA process. Powering the computer on caused the fourth capacitor to pop so hard that a GLOWING chunk flew at least 10 cm before landing on a wooden furniture (ouch).
Don't underestimate gigabyte, next time we may hear about one of their products just catching fire. It's time for them to get rid of the only temperature sensor to shave off even some more cents per card.

Is it something like this?
