1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Now Bitcoin is for big players only... on: December 22, 2017, 08:09:47 AM
Since a long time ago is only for big players... the one who are making profit with this price fluctation are the ones with millions invested.

Everyone makes the same percentage if they buy and sell at the same time, no?

When I first got any crypto I thought that too, it's an easy misconception to have!

Psychologically it can feel more reassuring to have whole coins, but really it makes no difference.

I find value in your post but can't understand it. It because of my lack of knowledge. Can you please describe a little?

It's as simple as I wrote it Smiley

It feels more real if you have 1 whole coin instead of 0.02 or whatever amount you have - but it makes no difference really, you still get the same percentage gains Smiley

I've succeeded in buying BTC. But buying an altcoin like XP are complicated on Coinexchangeio, the steps required aren't clear and I can't. And I've tried for hours. I just want to buy a few hundred dollars worth. Any ideas out there?   Huh

Do you mean Ripple XRP?

Like others have said, in other threads too, don't invest more than you can afford to lose. Only invest in coins you think are going to go up, that generally means reading and researching.

I don't know that there are currencies for beginners as much as strategies for beginners - start small and read a lot.

They're not all going down, are they? I've had some gains in the last few hours too?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HODL or REGRET!!! on: December 22, 2017, 03:31:01 AM
It is easy to regret once the pump happens. But you don't know before. I'm quite new to crypto, but I think I will always try to HODL part of coins that take off, even if it is only half of what I started with…
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How secure are 12 word recovery phrases? on: December 22, 2017, 12:03:47 AM
Less secure than 24 word recovery phrases.

Each additional word makes the maths above stronger. The chances of getting a useful recovery phrase is already infinitesimal with 12 word phrases, it becomes even less likely with the addition of each word. Size does matter Wink

Ouch, that's got to hurt!

Is there a way to report that to mods?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I bought an old used computer and I found 26 bitcoins on: December 21, 2017, 09:28:47 PM
We'll it seems to me as a new version of 419 nigerian scam, you know.. someone with different stories asks you to help him to change a big sum of money...
In this case, congratulation for creativity :-)
If what you say is true... well, congratulation for the good luck :-)

Ha! First thing I thought was this sounds like an intro to "wanna buy this computer off me?"

Perhaps I'm being cynical though, nice find at Christmas time if I'm wrong.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Safest and cheapest way to store cryptos(XRP,BTC,LTC,ETH...) on: December 21, 2017, 08:46:25 PM
Hardware wallets (or the ones I have) come with a paper key too, so they're secure twice I suppose.

I guess all coins can go up or down, quickly.

It is very tempting to put a lot into coins that look to be doing really well, but by doing so you increase the risk too - I like having eggs in a few different baskets.
