Hey I'm talking about his continued disregard of his responsibilities and the fact that this is obv. not a priority for him.

People are hypocrits.

Haha look at this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=152135.msg1887405#msg1887405

Look at this exerpt:

April 8th, gmail, Steamboat:
Adam,

I have not received any word from you regarding your loan. If I do not hear back from you today your loan will be considered in default.

Regards,

Steamboat

April 15th, gmail, Steamboat:
Adam,

I have marked you as a scammer on bitcointalk.org and released your information.

April 15th, gmail, Adam:
OK

April 15th, gmail, Adam:
So my license and everything is online?

April 15th, gmail, Steamboat:
I have withheld the information you provided for the time being. If you continue to ignore your responsibilities I will release that as well.

April 16th, gmail, Steamboat:
Adam,

You have until Wednesday, April 17th to honor your loan. If you do not respond by then I will be forced to release your information.

Regards,

Steamboat

Sent from my iPhone

April 16th, gmail, Adam:
I can't pay you by then.  I know for sure.

Sent from my iPad

April 16th, gmail, Steamboat:
Very well. This is obviously not a priority for you. Due to your continued disregard of your responsibilities, lying about paying the loan, and purchase of coins not used to repay your loan, I will be releasing your information and all correspondence shortly. Any persons/companies I believe should know about your default will also be contacted.

Edit: typo

Maybe we should put a similar ultimatum on steamboat, due to "this obviously not being a priority for him, and due to continued disregard of his responsibilities. Lol this is rich.

Edit// Also, steamboat, I'd like to get my loan back from you now.  Roll Eyes

Great to see people agree. I hope it's not too much of a PITA to implement such measures.

Now, not trying to be selfish, but would a mod help me out get Boxman90 back to my control, and/or tell me the procedure for this via PM as to not derail this thread? :p

As it stands, the e-mail address of a user can be changed with only the password of the account. This gives phishers an edge: when they get your password, they can take over the entire account.

I propose that attempting to change the e-mail address of an account should yield a confirmation e-mail to the original e-mail address, which has to be confirmed by the actual owner. This way, phishers get much less of a chance to take over the account because they would then need control over both the bitcointalk.org account, and the victims e-mail account.

With such e-mail confirmation, the owner can always recover their account.

I became victim of phishing and with no notice, the perpetrator used just my password to change my password and e-mail address, rendering me powerless to get my account back without intervention from theymos.

I do agree that the changing of your email address should yield an email to the owner of the account, asking for confirmation.

It was really easy to completely botch my account if you have my password. Change my pass, change email, throw it all away - presto. The email address yields no extra layer of security this way. Once I have access to the other subfora, I'll make note of this with the moderators.

Well as I said, mine got phished. I can prove ownership of my account, if only the mods would just reply to my PM's :/ The guy who logged into my account, also changed my email address, so there's no way to recover it from my side.

They have not even replied to my PM's. Do PM's from newbies even arrive in the inbox of these moderators?

Does theymos have an email address or something?

Well I found out the cause, i fell for a phishing site. Stupid, I know.

I contacted Theymos and another mod, hopefully I'll hear from them pretty soon.

Dear moderators / whomever may read this,

My account (Boxman90) apparently got hacked not too long ago. At about 8:14:00 PM it got hacked, and I would much like to know how this could have happened.

I never reached an email regarding my password being changed. I tried a reset, but my email address got erased from the account apparently.

The password I use is a unique one that is not used elsewhere.

I can provide my email address and previous password to prove ownership. Please, would a moderator contact me about this.
