1  Economy / Economics / Re: It’s not illegal to use real strawberries, it’s just impossible if you don’t wan on: August 10, 2011, 11:08:26 AM
It does not miss the point.
If it happens the damage is already done and without regulations you can defend yourself by saying "that's what the customer wants".
Also a web of trust won't help (or at least will be slow) if you consider there are big b2b vendors that sell tons of food at a time, you as a customer don't even know where say the meat you buy at a super market came from.

You know, I don't think you should not be able to choose the product you want, but to be able to do so you a) have to know the relevant data which only works if they are printed on the package and are easy to understand and b) it must be assured that the product matches said description.
You simply don't have the choice to say "I don't want ice cream that won't survive eating it over the course of a week" if you don't know which product that applies to or you can't trust the information you have because it is from the same company that produces the stuff.
Here in germany food companys have succesfully blocked a law that simply required to print more information onto the package because they fear an informed customer wouldn't buy their stuff if he knows whats he eats... think about it.

Nice lobbying against regulations, but have you even started to think about the consequences of removing them ?
This might be an example of how the particular regulations are (maybe) not fit for a particular scenario, and maybe they should be adepted.
But the product in question is simply does not match hygiene standards for a product designed to be stored.
I am sure it is fine if served directly by the manufacturer, but as non-pasteurized milk is used and fresh fruit is added it can and will grow dangerous concentrations of bacteria especially fast if transported and stored.

I am not saying you should *trust* regulations, also I don't like overly expensive certification procedures, but without regulations people *will* sell you spoiled food. This *has* happened and lifes are at stake.

Try installing an X-Server if not already done. It sadly won't work without one - which is the last thing one looks if setting up a box thats not supposed to have a monitor attached ^^

Why don't you try out new pools without disconnecting from the current one ? I've tried that and it works well for both windows and linux miners (using rpcminer-cuda and phoenix for two different rigs). Would at least solve the problem of idle machines if something goes wrong while giving you the same data about reliability of the new pool.

9  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Double Trouble with a Double Jackpot!!! on: June 18, 2011, 08:53:55 PM
And I think this is a great idea ^^ I will consider putting in a coin at the end just to to get that jackpot if this gets forgotten XD
10  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Double Trouble with a Double Jackpot!!! on: June 18, 2011, 08:19:43 PM
duh, double trouble games need to die by design.
if you put money in it after day 3 you're screwed anyway.
but the more games start the bigger the chance to get in early and get some coins.
This is a great chance to make some money ^^ But sometimes you win sometimes you loose, just made 1 BTC off the last one. Get in and be a winner or wait till just before people lose interest in this one and lose your coins.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the market crashing? on: June 11, 2011, 04:49:54 PM
Yes, the market is crashing.
To ensure the project Bitcoin does not cause further damage just send me your remaining bitcoins @ 1NZLgm99ZnfbGwGaj8Y2Gcs8aDr5gDYXiF so I can use my expert knowledge to securely convert them to electricity again. That way electricity gets a bit cheaper and everybody cuts their losses.

13  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Double Trouble 2! Double your money within 7 days! on: June 08, 2011, 10:34:37 AM
Because this game lives off people who want to make quick money. Giving constant interest in the game the time to double the money will increase. In that scenario it will reach the max ttl for each bid at which point half the people will have nothing (they won't have anyway even with the current design, but the winners will be another group). At that point people should lose interest and the game will die as even more people lose.
Remember, this is a ponzi scheme and those *are* not sustainable.
The only reason to want a change to the current system is the hope to beat the flaws which is just not possible.
14  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Laser Building Service on: June 07, 2011, 06:40:11 PM
Also I think giant LASERs of death (maybe with that as a part: http://cgi.ebay.de/coherent-laser-diode-donut-100-watt-802-nm-Five-Array-/170645491289?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bb438e59 )should sell well as most geeks I know tend to really like my 1w blue LASER pretty much... if it just wasn't that cheaply built -.- already had to replace the lens as it started to melt, replace the switch and use 3 batterys instead of two (no, I didn't fry it with that)
15  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Double Trouble 2! Double your money within 7 days! on: June 07, 2011, 03:27:26 PM
I hope this game doesn't change next round *g* Wouldn't make half as much sense if it becomes an endless game.
16  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Double Trouble 2! Double your money within 7 days! on: June 06, 2011, 10:13:30 PM

As a shareholder I would like to make money... But I haven't yet made any graphs to compare different investment-scenarios. I would like you to at least compensate the rise of difficulty, but if it eats all the profit that just won't be any good... For now I would say invest as much as you can.
18  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How to not get scammed. on: June 04, 2011, 10:22:09 PM
Sure... Facebook... why not some sort of itunes id ? I mean... everyone has at least an ipod... seriously, that kind of approach won't get you anywhere, I don't think anyone here is too keen on giving his personal data to a big company that doesn't deserve your trust...
19  Economy / Services / Re: [CentiMine] Anonymous mini-mining contracts on GLBSE on: June 03, 2011, 05:30:21 PM
worked, got my first payout ^^ (even though it is fairly low (206400) as I only have 16 shares)
20  Economy / Marketplace / Re: A beginner's thought on bitcoin on: May 29, 2011, 01:38:14 PM
I don't think there is much truth to that "Bitcoin is only for speculation" stuff anymore... You can already buy pretty much stuff directly in Bitcoin and there is even a way to purchase stuff of amazon. Also stabilizing the BTC/(some currency) idea is something that cannot be done as Bitcoin is just different from normal currency and also is not nessecary as it is within the power of every online shop (offline is not that important right now) to dynamically adjust their prices.
