Necessary? or can you get Bitcoins added to Mt.Gox by other means while remaining unverified and still use their other services like transferring bitcoins etc?

... by means such as transferring $ on Pokerstars, etc...
the reason for this is I do not seem to be able to figure out how to buy BitCoins on my own through sites such as Mt.Gox because I am unable to verify my account since I do not have a scanner to send them my driver's license and proof of residency...
