Hey everyone, I have been talking with a well known custodian and a few potential lenders regarding loans for Casascius coins. I am personally interested since a loan does not trigger a taxable event and it is also a way to access liquidity without having to peel or sell coins (especially with premiums as low as they are). The lenders are interested but one of their main questions is how large the potential market is for this before they invest time and money into it. If you are potentially interested in getting a Casascius coin loan, DM me or comment here and if comfortable give a ballpark estimate of the BTC value you would be interested in getting a loan on. Obviously this is not binding in any way and I will leave it to them to legitimize the process and ensure the safety of all our coins, but this market research would be quite helpful. Thanks  Walk me through this. If someone gets a loan, they are going to have to pay interest on that. How do they pay that back if they never want to access their coins? |

Thanks for all the mintage information guys. Windjc I did have a couple of lengthy calls yesterday with some investors and they just have smaller investments in mind with collectables. Of my group of friends I was the crypto enthusiast back pre $650 BTC or so. Now at $1.22 M for 25 BTC asset with less liquidity than an exchange wallet I understand the enthusiasm is less than a few years back. I am a little more of a collector and drool over these cool collectables but like a lot here I'm not 25 btc wealthy and can only admire you guys that were able to hold so long. This is a museum piece ! Smithsonian piece ! I think its worthy of a call to see interest there  Well that's an interesting idea for sure. But with museums, they don't purchase most items. You donate for a tax write off. So if I donated it to the Smithsonian I could take an appraised value of it and write that amount off against earnings for a year. Then the extra bonus is getting the personal acknowledgement for the donation. It would be interesting to see at what point in the future they would be interested in a piece like this. Certainly once BTC is at $1 million value and this piece is worth north of $25 million. And of course, Bitcoin would need to be accepted more mainstream and as a reserve currency. I suspect in 10-20 years that would be an option. Maybe sooner. |

Congrats on the sale of the unique BTCC Double Block! & good luck on this one, I too would hang onto it until travel restrictions, etc eased up.
OTOH! Fancy seeing you here I had not considered the travel restrictions. I imagine you are correct. Although the buyer of the Double Block had MJ ship to Singapore. |

There were 93 made(2016). +1 double block(50BTC) +16 artist proofs(2015). Total of 110. Elias' Encyclopedia was in the final stages around the end of 2015, beginning of 2016, so they would not have made it in there. This block is from the BTCC N Series Bitcoin Block. Pretty rare collectible. Block #418,537 with 25.63344702 BTC on it. I am debating putting to auction or if there are no real interested buyers, I will probably peal it. It's a beauty, I'd just prefer the actual bitcoin atm. I also owned the only BTCC Double Block which I just sold directly to a private buyer. MinerJones can confirm.    |

I just fired up my wallet that I haven't touched since 2016.
It will not let me send. It gives me a connection error after I enter address and amount to send to.
Then I noticed that my wallet says "Byteball" and the new wallet says "Obyte". Do I need to upgrade before I can send?
If so, do I need to do it in a specific manner in order not to lose access to my funds?
Please advise. Thanks in advance.

You didn't mention what platform you are using, but in case it's Windows then you just download the new installer and re-install it. https://obyte.org/#downloadYou will also have to accept all the Witness (Order Provider) changes after you launch the new version, there has been 7 changes. If for some reason I upload the new version and cannot see my balance, is there an option to enter my 12 word passphrase to recover? |

Humbly disagree. We have 3 resistances left before $1M per coin. $56k or 1 Trillion MC approx. 100k (six figures). MC of gold or $640k per BTC. After that, inflation rates themselves can get us to $1M. I'd say there's a least a 50/50 chance of $1M during the next bull cycle in about 4-5 years. If not that one, definitely the one after. But I know, you like to be bearish This is based on the assumption that this current bull cycle takes us to between $100k and $288k. |
