Jesus I'd hope so, 43 months to make a profit is terrible. I'd give 3 months tops.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many block erupters do you own? on: September 22, 2013, 06:00:39 AM
Got two of them cause I had $100 to blow on Amazon. I'm just mining some Freicoins with em at the moment, wasn't a fan of the extremely low bitcoin numbers I got with them. Hooked em up to an old laptop and tossed them in my freezer, if Freicoin goes up one day, maybe I'll be rich. We'll see hah.
3  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANN] Bitcoin Exchange Ticker Windows Sidebar Gadget on: September 22, 2013, 05:23:41 AM
Hey guys! Been around for awhile but finally decided to sign up so I could share my latest project with the community.

Introducing the BTCValue Bitcoin exchange ticker gadget! Currently its in its early stages but it's at a functional point so I decided to see if there is any desire for such a thing. It works and provides the latest prices right to your desktop, so even though its not quite feature packed yet, it is useful.

The ticker will update every 5 minutes with the 'last' prices on the MtGox and BTC-e exchanges.

The project is open source and currently hosted on Github @ https://github.com/taed576/BTCValue

-TODO List-
[ ] Settings panel
[ ] More exchange options
[ ] Update interval
[ ] Fancy design
[ ] Change graphs
[ ] Price alerts
[ ] More!

Feel free to make any feature requests and submit bugs to the github page, as well as pull requests Smiley
I will try to keep this thread up-to-date but the Readme file on the Github repo will always have the latest info.

You can always snag the latest version at this link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o5rabae7h723gqi/BTCValue-latest.gadget
For older versions check the repo page.

Enjoy and please provide feedback so I can continue to improve it!

I too am also new and seeking to learn more about this new market and constantly growing pool of miners.

Hello Kay

you are not late, you can still be considered an early adopter!

Welcome  to the forum

I am glad to hear we are still considered "early" adopters! I was worried I was getting involved in this way too late. Especially after watching the market for the past week and a half, it seems as though BTC is steadily decreasing in value. Did we hit our ceiling in april 2012 with that $234 high? (I hope not).

It still has some room to grow! Whether that happens anytime soon is the question. If bitcoins are going to be useful for big real world purchases, each coin needs to be worth at least $10k for large populations to be able to buy houses or cars and such. That way every day purchases use satoshis. $234 is not the roof Smiley

Thanks for the welcomes!

I understand the restrictions, its just a small hassle since I have something I'm excited to post, and of course I waited to sign up right at that moment.

Anyway, hello and thanks!

Don't keep us in suspense!  Tell us!  We read the Newbies forum too!

I'd love to but I can't link to it yet anyway Tongue It's a windows gadget for bitcoin ticker prices, il write up a big fancy post as soon as I can with todo lists and feature requests and such haha. Version 0.1 is ready to go though Smiley

EDIT: Heres the post! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=299241.0

I'm working on a Windows side bar gadget that displays tickers for various exchanges. No business but just a project I'm excited to share and stuck behind the newb wall Smiley
