1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v15.0 (Windows/Linux) on: September 22, 2019, 09:51:28 AM
Sounds like compute mode is on.
Thanks for the hint. The registry edits I found here fixed it for me: https://monero.farm/disable-crossfire-and-enable-compute-mode-in-one-click/
Still running only 175~176MH/s instead of 182~183 before, but yeah, it will do for now.

So, my miner's motherboard died and SSD crashed. Got new motherboard and SSD today.
I had no backup of my previous system, so I reinstalled everything from scratch using latest versions.

Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A, 6x RX580 4GB

Before:
Win 10, I think build 1703 of 1709 (not sure)
AMD beta blockchain drivers
Claymore 11.9

Now:
Win 10 build 1903 (latest)
Latest AMD drivers
Claymore 15

Before I got  +- 182MH/s ETH only (as expected for this rig), but now something like 72 (+-12 per card, all 6 cards working). Something's obviously off.

Quick suggestions on what I did wrong? Which OS version and driver version should I use? Thanks!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / ETH mining, steady decline in payouts on: February 10, 2018, 06:40:43 PM
Sorry in advance for the obvious noob question.

So I'm mining ETH using Claymore's miner with 6 RX580 4GB cards on ethermine.org. I've started just before New Year (a month and a half ago)

Claymore reports +- 180MH/s, the mining pool +- 170MH/s. This seems to be normal, and stood steady over time.

Despite that, there's a steady decline in my weekly payouts:

Is this normal? I mean, yeah, difficulty increases over time, but... does it go this fast?

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Are these drivers still to be preferred over the latest beta blockchain drivers?

dual mine ETH+LBC or ETH+DCR.
Will take a look, thanks!

Where did you find a GA-H110-D3A motherboard?
Dutch / The Netherlands: https://www.megekko.nl/product/0/999342/Gigabyte-GA-H110-D3A

I would recommend a 7+ gpu board for better density.  Good to see new miners still getting into the game!
While I agree, I'll wait for the first results before I invest more. Can/might add 7th card later on.

So start to build it now and welcome to mining community.
Yes, as far as I know, riser V008C consumes less 5W than V006C.
And one thing, you should notice is mainboard Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A it may change the BOOT section when you update OS.
So if you plan to use window10, you should take a look on BOOT setting in bios otherwise your rig will not startup. As I remember, just choose option name like sth relates to Window.
Thanks or the input, I will update the UEFI/BIOS first and take a look at the settings. I'll start with 1 GPU and add the others once this single GPU is working.

Can I ask where you managed to find GPUs and at what price?
Dutch / The Netherlands: https://www.megekko.nl/product/0/999224/Gigabyte-Radeon-RX-580-GAMING-8GB €305

Cards - 580/8GB would give afaik same hashrate as 570/4gb and cost significantly more.
Also do your research on overclocking/undervolting - people just told me they got issues with same cards.

850W PSU is not required, but more power is always better.
Stable rigs 8 GPU run on 850Wx2.
I went for RX580 8GB because price difference is not so big (€60 each compared to RX570 4GB), and to be more future proof (i.e. Etherium DAG size). Might not be the best investment (perf/money) for large scale deployments, I agree. I figured this is -for me- the safest bet for now.

I would not take 8GB of PX580 either, I think 4GB looks more optimal in terms of price / hash ratio.
Think about it.
While I agree, I didn't want to take the risk of not being able to mine some coins because of VRAM limits in the near future.

Good list but I would change from rx 580's to gtx 1060's being your first rig and cards are a bitch to get working. Plus there cost is way out there right now.   The corsair Psu's are overpriced crap. U can get two seasonic 850watt for 30 bucks list.  Seasonic builds 80% of the Psu's on the market.  Always get the largest memory card u can. It will last longer with the file size getting bigger.
I have confidence in getting the 6 RX580 cards working. nVidia mining seems a bit newer, and not for all coins. Feels like I have less confidence in it... But they are a bit cheaper, yes.

I woudn't say Corsair PSU's are crap, but I found 850W Seasonic PSU's for €30 less than I paid for the Corsair PSU's (€105 vs €135).
https://seasonic.com/focus-plus-gold Might be a better option, indeed.

Thanks for the feedback.

I just ordered the parts. Will start with the 6 cards, 7th is possible for later.
Went for 8GB of system memory just to be sure.

Found a seller for the V008C risers as well, they seem to be better compared to V006C.

Any ideas of what coin / miner should be most profitable on these cards?
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / First mining build - Opinions? on: December 25, 2017, 10:18:06 AM
Hi,

I'm about to purchase the following parts for my first mining build:

Software:
  • Win 10 pro (or Enterprise LTSB if I can get hold of that)
  • AMD mining driver

This will add up to 2500~2600 euro here in western Europe.

I'm thinking about mining ethereum using Claymore, or starting with NiceHash.

What do you guys think about this setup?
Good hardware choice?
What about the software?

Is vBIOS editing necessary? These are RX580 8GB cards running their memory on 8GHz stock. I'll try to undervolt/underclock the GPUs while trying to overclock the memory with Afterburner. Will that be sufficient?

Thanks for your input!
