1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Profit-switching scrypt+ASIC Pool] multipool.us on: January 30, 2014, 02:59:28 PM
My actual mining return is nowhere near the estimates either. I've been mining at a constant rate of 5Mh/s on the Doge pool for the past 3 days and averaging approximately 25,000 Doge/day. According to Coinwarz, 5Mh/s should bring in somewhere between 36,000 Doge and 47,000 Doge per day depending on the difficulty (which has changed a bit over the past few days).

I don't know if this has been pointed out yet, but Doge has a variable block reward. If you hover over the little '?' next to the reward amount for Doge on CoinWarz, it'll explain. Basically it ranges from 0 to 1,000,000 so CoinWarz estimates the reward for each block at 500,000. That could explain the difference you are seeing because the actual reward could have been more or less. If we mined blocks which were mostly less, your coins per day would of course also be less.

Wait, wait, wait a sec. If the withdrawal fee for BTC is 0.00050000 BTC and Cryptsy have said it all goes to the network, then why does the network show this:

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange with ZERO FEES for beta on: December 15, 2013, 06:38:19 PM
I noticed something very strange today. I'm mining on FST and all the mining rewards have been negative, making my FST balance negative. Anybody else experiencing this?

Erundook and Captainfuture, the site looks great!

CoinEx is a smaller alternative to sell your alts.

Agreed. I've been using it for a week or so now since Cryptsy's issues have been dragging on forever. The exchange rates have mostly been comparable for the coins I was interested in. I've also noticed a bit of an increase in volume, perhaps as other people learn that there are alternatives to Cryptsy. Now don't get me wrong, I like Cryptsy, and I hope they fix their problems, but I also want to make some money and their problems were impacting my bottom line.  Undecided
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Exchange] Latest Cryptsy Additions, News and announcements. NEW SITE on: December 05, 2013, 01:50:38 PM
Why have no other alt exchanges been set up? cryptsy is the only good one that is why they are screwed everyone is heading there.

Since the problems with Cryptsy have been dragging on with no real improvements, I've begun to explore Coinex.pw. The exchange rates on some of the coins have been comparable with some a little higher and some a little lower. The volume is nowhere near as high as Cryptsy, and it's in beta with a few quirks of its own, but it works.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VGA mining on: November 21, 2013, 04:36:30 PM
Is it laptop video card?

Yes it is. I know someone will say it is shiti and slow, but I just want to know if it is possible while mining with CPU to mine with VGA for different coin and which one?

More likely we'll warn you that mining on a laptop is not recommended because of the heat that will be generated. Running a video card full out for mining generates heat much more quickly than the laptop can dissipate it. Run it long enough and you run a serious risk of burning something up. If you want to anyway, try throttling it and not running it at 100% to try and keep the temperature manageable.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] PhenixEx Notice on: November 14, 2013, 02:46:29 PM

Edit: I'll bet if someone calls up that Domains by Proxy, and says they are filing criminal charges against the owners of phenixex.com, you'll find out who the real owners are.

Yes, they should have a legal address to send subpenas to requesting the information as it relates to a lawsuit or criminal investigation. Once verified, they'll release the information. A real company would have no need to hide its contact information. It was intended for individuals so that their home address and phone number were not out there.

Did you, and/or your destination update your client(s)?  There was a DGC hard fork yesterday.

I see the coins have arrived, so that probably was the issue. Thanks for looking into it.

I noticed this morning my DGC withdrawals did not reach their destination. This began around 11/5/13 at 2:30AM (EST). The transactions are not showing in the DGC blockchain, so I'm hoping they're just stuck somewhere. Thanks.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: November 04, 2013, 05:53:26 AM
The difficulty update should address that.. what I believe is happening is that some parts of the network have high enough hashpower to get the next block out the fastest to the point of mining 5 blocks before anyone else even has a chance to. This is possible because of the broken difficulty code which allows valid blocks to be mined without much effort otherwise there would be time for you to mine your own block in between.

So it is 5 blocks per 10 minutes on the network? I mistook it for a speed limit on the individual miner, not the entire network. Your comments about the lottery were noted, thank you for the clarification.

Please refer to the 51% defense documentation in reference to your first question: http://gldcoin.com/documents/GoldCoin_0.7_51percent_defense_october_11_2013.pdf

OK So I read the documentation you referred to. As you pointed out, it is very skimpy on details. The block chain explorer indicates we are currently at block 102,067. So we are past block 100,000 and only rule #1 applies (no clauses). No miner may produce more than 5 blocks every 10 minutes. It's interesting. The lost coins I do agree were probably a result of either the wallet.dat not being backed up or the miner being on the wrong block chains. However, seeing and having experienced all or nearly all the mined blocks being rejected, there's no way that can be normal or even expected behavior. The documentation would make me think I should have cleared at least 5 blocks every ten minutes minimum.

I understand it's experimental, and to tell the truth, that's part of what makes all of this mining so darn fun. However, hearing the new system described as more of a lottery was a poor choice of words. Lotteries have only a handful of winners and a whole ton of losers. Nobody wants to be a loser, and I wonder if any serious miner with an eye on his or her bottom line would be interested in sticking with mining a lottery. They'd be more interested in guaranteed results. Perhaps it would appeal to a few gamblers and speculators.

All that being said, I am impressed by your attempts to invent new ways of tackling the 51% problem. I hope you are able to work out the kinks and make the network stable. In the mean time, I'm going to mine some other coins while I keep an eye on the thread and perhaps once stable give it another go. So please keep us updated on the progress.

I downloaded the new 7.1.3 client and made sure it was synced and the block height matched. I let it run 8 hours. 154 blocks found, all rejected. This was mining solo with a measly 750 kh/s. I checked the time and it's syncing with Microsoft's windows time server. Something is clearly broken.

14  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a Dwolla -> CampBx problem? on: October 10, 2013, 08:00:47 PM
Is dwolla closing down funding to campbx ?

Possibly. I just received this email from Dwolla. Notice the first two deadlines: Oct 10 and Oct 15. Talk about short notice.

Dear Dwolla Account Holder,

As you know, Dwolla does not sell, accept, mine, value, take possession of, or hold Bitcoin or any other virtual currency product, and none of Dwolla’s users transact business with Dwolla using Bitcoin or any other virtual currency product. However, recent interest involving virtual currency and its exchanges has created uncertainty and confusion around virtual currency, and Dwolla's relationship with a small number of its exchanges. This has forced Dwolla to reassign resources, funds, and services.

As Dwolla gears up for a new stage of growth, we recognize that we can no longer sustain this merchant base (.1 percent of Dwolla merchants) and its unique needs, and that attempting to do so jeopardizes both of our communities' starkly different, but similarly ambitious, vision for improving payments.

Effective October 28, 2013 at 4pm CT, Dwolla will be withdrawing its service offerings to virtual currency exchanges and virtual currency related services.

What does this mean?

Your account, and its functionality, will remain unaffected. However, you can deactivate your account from within your Dwolla dashboard, if you so choose.
Dwolla aims to provide its users and the few affected merchants with the guidance necessary to ensure a smooth transition. To do that, we encourage users to over-communicate with our support team, report any suspicious activity, and revisit our terms of service to ensure uninterrupted services.

What is the timeline of events?

October 10: Only existing users with a 30-day history with Dwolla will be able to send funds to merchants affected by this change.
October 15: Affected merchants will be limited to sending money only, and will no longer be able to receive funds from customers. They will be able to issue refunds to customers at this time.
October 28: Affected merchants’ accounts will be suspended. No further activity will be provided.
October 29: Provided no security or fraud concerns, Dwolla will transfer any of the remaining funds inside the affected merchant's Dwolla account to its linked bank account.

The decision to remove anyone from the network -- no matter the circumstances -- is not something Dwolla takes lightly. We are grateful for the opportunity to service and learn from these users. We wish the community and its pioneers the best.

Sincerely,
Dwolla Support

If you would be so kind to post in this thread when you received your coins, it could take away some of the unrest that's there among people who have not received them yet.

I can confirm that my refund is being processed. It's working its way through confirms and shows in my wallet as pending. Thank you for keeping your word.

Suddenly my CAP address is invalid? I tried generating a couple new ones from Cryptsy and they were all invalid, too. Any suggestions?

I've been looking at Campbx (https://campbx.com/main.php).  I like the feel of the site but haven't tried them yet.

I've been using CampBx for several months now and I've been quite pleased with the service. Moving Bitcoins in and setting the trades up has been easy enough. The exchange rates have been a little lower than MtGox, but I look at it as the price to pay to be able to use Dwolla to eventually get the cash into my bank account in the US.

Hello,

After being a long-time lurker here, I finally decided to register. A recently sour experience with PhenixEx is what really prompted me. I had signed up there to trade Orbit coins and traded a few coins to BTC. I tried to withdraw my BTC and ... it got stuck in Processing. I read this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=290165.0 and then this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=299765.0. I figured I would sign up and add my two cents and see if it gets resolved. It wasn't much, about 0.6 BTC, but still. I understood it was in Beta and might have a few hiccups but c'mon. So that's what brought me to register and post this message.

Otherwise, hmm. I pretty much grew up with computers, cutting my teeth on Apple //e, Commodores and Amigas. I still have two Commodore 128D-CR's and an Amiga 3000D and 4000D that I tinker with now and then. Not surprisingly, my day job is working as a software developer (Windows and web, depending upon our project needs).

I was at a local Big Lots yesterday and saw the EZ-Eyes keyboard (huge ugly yellow keys) and thought it would be funny to bring that in to work and use as my keyboard. For $5 who cares, it'd be fun. Well, I'm so disappointed!! Half the keys are dead. What a total P.O.S. I also picked up two small 4ft Xmas trees for my kids (Pink and Blue). They loved them, except my daughter wants to put hers up NOW. Oops...

Final thoughts ... anybody drop the $60 for GTA V (PS3 version)? Totally worth it, or wait for it to come down in price? I usually don't get games the moment they come out but occasionally make an exception.

If all the rain the weathermen are predicting for Florida come true, I may need a boat to get home!

Take care, pleasure meeting y'all.
