1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / pywallet recovery help on: April 03, 2019, 10:08:54 PM
Hi all,

I have an encrypted wallet.dat that is 3 years old. I have tried the easy methods (opening Core, replacing the wallet.dat, importing into electrum etc) but everything comes back as saying my wallet is corrupted.

As a last resort I am trying to run pywallet recovery on a usb stick with my dat file. I am getting a strange error though:

root@linux-box:~/Desktop/btc# ls -l /mnt/usb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 31667 Mar 31 16:09 wallet.dat

python pywallet.py --recover --recov_size=256Mo --recov_device=/mnt/usb/ --recov_outputdir=./
Enter the passphrase for the wallet that will contain all the recovered keys: ****

Starting recovery.
Traceback (most recent call last):

    recoveredKeys=recov(device, passes, size, 10240, options.recov_outputdir)

  File "pywallet.py", line 1350, in search_patterns_on_disk
    if lendataloaded%512>0:
TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for %: 'NoneType' and 'int'

Could this just be an OS issue? I'm running Debian. Python version is 2.7

thanks!

The only promising ICO's are the ones that has pre-existing partnerships or deals and therefore their coins will actually be used.

All other coins are simply trying to solve problems that don't exist.

I remember one ICO was targeted to third world countries that don't have reliable banks, I wonder if they realise how difficult it is to buy coins even is for a tech savvy person in a first world country, I just imagine a man and a camel walking along a sandy desert to a bitcoin exchange. pfft.

There are already asic proof coins. meaning you cannot use large hardware miners to mine the coin, well you can, but it would be no faster than a normal home PC.

You can't control exchange rates through your own coin, the exchanges do that based on supply vs demand.

quick calculation on KCS coin (based on a current price of $3)

Buy $500 worth  = 10 cents per day payout
Buy $10 000 worth = $2.57 per day payout

Since all coins are cheap as now, which coins pay the best dividends/rewards?

I remember looking at KCS coin but was expensive at the time and the calculations were all based off when the coin was 0.90c. I know of KCS, BNB, any others and which is the best?

when there is a crash, everything thinks "sell"... flip that thought around and during a crash think "BUY"!

Its a crypto sale black friday event,  buy in quick before the recovery starts

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pump on Cryptopia on: January 31, 2018, 05:42:21 AM
The biggest PnD group (and i wont name them here) can barely manage to get 20% increase in price and it lasts a few seconds. they got toooo big. The top tier of their members (who by the way get the pump signal hours before the actual group) got so large that by the time the signal is given the coin has already pumped up in price so much for a normal member the chance of making a profit is nil.

The fact the prices are pumping before the signal is given just proves what a scam these groups are.

its called scaremongering, everyday on the news we read how the "bubble will burst" just stick with it and hope for the best.

13  Other / Off-topic / Re: If bitcoin goes to zero on: January 25, 2018, 08:03:34 AM
Bitcoin will never drop because so many people missed out, now they watch bitcoin everyday hoping for a massive drop so they can buy it, so a major drop would quickly get corrected by a major buy up
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top 10 coins to Invest 100K$ on: January 23, 2018, 10:43:40 PM
NEO has been the most stable in the last few months for me, also turned me a nice profit (I bought in at $35)
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Managed $2K to invest, pls help on: January 22, 2018, 03:36:12 AM
Look at ADA, was very big news a month ago, now price is cheap, its a bargain. should recover back to $1 very soon.

At least Ethereum and Neo are starting to hold their own against bitcoin movements.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Exchanges and wallet maintenance scams on: January 22, 2018, 02:49:08 AM
So in the last couple of days alone I have seen 2 cases of the same coin showing over 1000% difference in price across two different exchanges. Surprise Surprise, the lower priced exchange will let you buy the coin and transfer it out, but the higher priced exchange will not allow you to deposit the currency. "Wallet maintenance" or "deposits temporarily disabled"

do these exchange start disabling wallets when a coin starts pumping or what is going on there.. My guess is the exchange starts artificially pumping coins so their users start buying them, however they block outside funds coming in so they can keep the supply down and price up.
