1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: January 14, 2018, 04:35:53 PM
I've been using AM for a month now and I'm absolutely loving it. However, after the latest update (v4.3.2) my miners restart very often. Their Uptimes used to be in hours and even days, whereas now it's a rare occasion to see them reach one full hour.

Specifics:
Running Profit Miners with MPH as the only pool selected. Only allowing two algo's(cryptonight and equihash) And it's not that they would switch between the algos when they restart. They just stop mining Equihash and then start at it again.

I'm facing the same problem, but for me the miners restart exactly every 2.5 minutes and it would happen to all running miners at the same time (GPU and CPU). It's like something is forcing the miners to restart.

Profit switching still works though at the interval that I have set. So the restarts every 2.5 minutes is not due to switching to a different algorithm.

Even with profit switching is off and miners setup to mine one coin only, it would behave the same way.
The general answer first:
A later version of Awesome Miner often includes later versions of the mining software as well and these kind of crashes that happens after a while has often very little to do with Awesome Miner. To troubleshoot, is it a specific software like EWBF or Claymore Cryptonight that is crashing? Is it the only software that is instable, or what about the others?

I did see your previous post that you could see this for both CPU and GPU mining. I would recommend to take a look at the rules you have in Awesome Miner. Also, is this on a remote computer via Remote Agent?

I also noticed few lines of the log file in a previous post, but it was a little too short of information what happend just before those lines. Was it a crash that Awesome Miner detected and simply restarted the mining software? Was it a rule that triggered and forced a restart?

Thanks for your reply. I will try to answer as much as I can.

I ran each compatible mining software for my CPU/GPU. Specifically:
- ccMiner 2.2.4
- DSTM Zcash Cuda Miner
- CC Miner Alexis
- EWBF Zcash Cuda Miner (did not restart every 2.5mins)
- Excavator
- CPU Miner opt 3.7.8

Only EWBF Zcash didn't restart regularly.

So I have been running EWBF and ccMiner for past few days, with Miner restarts whenever ccMiner is selected by profit switcher. No rules enabled except for the 30 minutes in profit switcher.

Today, I stopped the miners and tried a few things until I got the miners to be stable again no restarts! The last thing I did before the miners started to be stable was to re-enable SLI from Nvidia control panel, then disabled SLI back again. After that, miners have been running with no restarts.

Finally, I know this may be very specific issue to my hardware / software setup, but I felt like I should contribute as a way to show my appreciation for the efforts of the developer of this app.

Here's a full log showing one cycle when both miners restarted:

Still having problem with GPU and CPU miners restarting regularly (every 2.5 mins) after almost a week of running smoothly. It only lasted until I had to restart my system, and now all miners are back to restarting at 2.5mins intervals like clock work.. I have a GPU and CPU miner, even if I start them one or two minutes apart, they would both restart at the same time then keep restarting at the same time every 2.5mins. This happens with all miner software / algorithms that I can run from Awesome Miner.

Below is part of the log between three start/stop instances for the CPU miner this time. around 2mins 30secs apart. The gpu miner has the same characteristics.

With all these restarts I can only speculate that I am losing some efficiency for work being done but not submitted in time before the restart and the time it takes for the miner to go back to mining.

Its not a big issue for me as I am very happy with the results: avg mining net profit after power costs $6-8 per day.
Just thought of sharing my experience hoping it helps the developers in some way.

My hardware (old gaming rig):
2 x GTX 980 (not overclocked)
16 GB RAM
Core i7-3960X (not overclocked)
Windows 10 pro - clean install

I have been mining for a while and noticed that miners are restarting roughly every 2 minutes. I am running GPU mining on Nvidia 980, and it doesn't matter which miner program is running, ccminer/ewbf/excavator, after 2 minutes of mining, the process would stop and restart immediately. I even tried CPU mining, it would run through the same stop/restart cycle.

This is what I found in the logs, showing only when the stop restart happens (the time it takes for each stop/restart cycle is exactly 02min 24sec):

I do not have any rules setup, in fact I have disabled any rules from the settings. Profit switching interval is set to 30 minutes

How can I get the miners to keep mining without the stop/restart every 2 minutes?

Thanks for your help.
"process not running. Restarting..." is typically an indication that the mining software has crashed and Awesome Miner detects that the process is no longer running and initiates a restart of it. What is a bit strange here is that it happens so frequently and always 2 - 3 minutes in between. Is this with only Awesome Miner itself or is a Remote Agent involved as well? Could you click the Diagnostics button in the toolbar just to verify that the output from the mining software is OK?

the restart was happening almost like clock work, and only when mining using Awesome Miner. However, recently I tried something which for some reason caused the miners to run stably without restart. In Options, Profit Switching, I ticked Profit Switching Threshold and set it to 10%.. Then after a day of running with no restarts, I removed the the tick, and the miners still running without restarts. Not sure why this fixed it. So far no restarts or errors for last 48 hours.

Thanks.
