I find it very interesting how the SRN coin is fluctuating. It's mostly going down, but sometimes there are these Pumps that go into it to keep it form losing its entire value. I assume people are speculating on them and that's why the coin still drops quite fast after the pumps.

I think best thing to do is to reinvest ALL of what you get from mining back into mining hardware.
That way you can exponentially increase your income.

I have a mini-itx Gigabyte 1070 which has a bad fan, it only starts if I push it by hand, and at some point it stops for some reason, I've never been around when it stops.

I tried pulling the rottary part off, cleaning and oiling up the middle pin, and it didn't make a difference (it wasn't very dirty to begin with).

Right now I have another fan working on top of it, but I didn't dismantle the shroud, and it's fine, but it's winter time and I'm keeping the mining PC on the balcony.

Do you guys have any suggestion on how to fix this fan? as I will probably want to eventually sell this card.

I the comparison once I reached payout thresholds for the pools the other, so I could mine only on ahash.
So Ahashpool seemed to be slightly ahead, by a small margin, but basically I think you can use whichever you like most. I find ahash more responsive, and has more miners than hashrefinery so I still use it.

People don't say what they mine on the forums, cause the more miners there are, the more the difficulty increases. Even if your personal 3x1070 wouldn't actually make a difference, posting such info publicly would maybe influence more, larger miners to get on the same coin.

Unless they mine on autoexchange to btc pools where it's more about what algo to mine, than what coin.
If that is the case, it's very easy to take a look at MegaMiner, NemosMiner or SniffDogMiner algo switchers and see what is most profitable most often.
In my case, with the same setup as yours (3x1070), I can see that the most profitable algos are:
- blake2s, x17, lyra2v2 (these all usually mine Verge coin, so if you want you might try that one)
- Neoscrypt (lots of coins use neoscrypt, vivo, guncoin, orbitcoin, crowdcoin, feathercoin, innova, trezarcoin just to name a few), the fact that there's a lot of them makes neoscrypt an algo pretty stable to mine, even if not always the best.
- Phi (Luxcoin)
There are other profitable algos/coins but they usually are very unstable like nist5-bulwark or tribus-denarius. They sometimes top the charts for profitablity and then drop as fast as they climbed, so I removed them.

I don't know how much more worth it is to mine the actual coin and then spend the time to analyze when is best to convert them, it also depends if you want to mine a coin that you think will go up a lot, but then you're also an investor not only a miner, it's your call, but do share any info if you have it.

yeah, it's coil whine, I have it on my 1070s as well, only when running x17. But it mostly comes out of the speakers, if I turn off the speakers it can still be heard but it's much more silent. There's some sort of interference with the on board sound card. You can try turning off the speakers/amp and see if it's better that way if it bothers you.
X17 algorithm does a very wierd oscillation of the card's power limit, and you can even hear the sound change as you go through different power limits (slower to faster as you increase it)
So that oscillation in power limit might cause the chokes on the card to vibrate so you get coil whine. I was also thinking that x17 algorithm might be further optimized in the future, and then the sound might stop.

you can just rename your current gpu groups, then it will have to benchmark them again.
For example I use a group with 3x1070 (devices 0,1,2), if I want to game on my card that has a display on it, i just copy a different config.txt where I have a group named 2x1070 with devices 1,2

that said, I was also wondering about what to do when I change the overclock on my cards, I sometimes run them at 64-75% power limit (when I sleep I want them quiter), and sometimes at 75-89% PL, so hashrate changes a little, so when downclocking it's more probable it will change algos more often, while when upclocking, it will change algos less.

From my experience, ccminer-alexis78-ms2013-cuda7.5 is a tiny bit faster than ccminerKlausT
I set intensity to 16.63, but if you get out of memory errors, you can try to lower that.

Overclocking both core and memory helps, but the exact clocks depend on what 1070 you have, some have higher TDP, some have different memory etc. (I have 3 different ones and they are all different) and it also depends if you want maximum hashrate or efficiency.
You should see more than 1200Kh/s if going for hashrate, and about 1100kh if going for efficiency.

Hsminer is about as fast, but also has a dev fee.

So after a little more than 24 hours, I can tell that ahashpool is still the most profitable, but the differences aren't as great as I thought.
We now see some small drops on ahash as well, I think those are caused by actual exchange rates not being as high as I initially predicted, and these should probably not apear when mining with no autoexchange.

About comparing estimated vs actual profit, that is a bit harder to do because it has to factor in your hashrate. While MegaMiner does this, it just shows instant estimated income, and it doesn't log anything.

For me to include it in the tool I've made, I'll need to interface with ccminer as well, and use its api, it's a lot more work.

From this morning, this is what I have until now:

Gets data from mining pools every interval minutes and writes it to CSV file, along with current date and time.

This way, if you keep it running you can have a detailed timeline of your actual income.

I've made a small C# program (as I'm more proficient with that than with powershell) that gets data from pool's apis every 2 minutes. I've made it configurable too so anyone can use it.
You'll have to edit app.config (or PoolApiToCSV.exe.config in debug folder) for it to work for your wallet,(just replace the wallet address at the end of each API address). You can also use it for other APIs, just make sure you correlate measures with api addresses, and refer to each pool's api page (eg. https://www.ahashpool.com/site/api/ )

If you want to open the CSV with Excel and you still have the tool open, make a copy of the CSV file and open that as excel locks the file.

In order to make graphs in Excel, the most useful and easy thing is to select all data and insert a scatter X, Y graph, there you can compare your actual profits made on different pools (or anything else you have configured), by having the DateTime as your X axis, like that, even if you don't keep this tool running all the time or you change the interval, you'll still see relevant data.

I've been wondering myself what the actual rates are for different pools.

I was mining only on Ahash pool, and I realized that their estiamations are inflated. Especially when comparing with Hashrefinery, even for algorithms that are not 'hot', all estimations where 20% higher.

I have a small rig with 3x1070 and right now I'm running an instance of MegaMiner on each so I can compare between Ahash, Hashrefinery and Zpool.
I'm running into different problems comparing the pools though. For example it took a lot of time for Hashrefinery to give me some XVG for the x17 I minned because it's a smaller pool, and there where only about 100 other minners for x17.

Comparing actual vs estimated is even harder as the estimations vary wildly.

I've also made a small monitoring bot to access pools' API every 2 minutes and write results to CSV file. I can then open that in excel and make some graphs over real profit made.

For now, Ahash pool still seems the best, but this experiment will need to run for a lot longer to be sure.

Let me know if you guys are interested in this, or have any other suggestions, and maybe I'll post some numbers a few days from now, when more data accumulates.

I find interesting that both hashrefinery and zpool sometimes the total earned ammount drops a little, while ahash only goes up, and is more consistent, you get many smaller increases, while zpool has some huge jumps (one of those might come later for hashrefinery too). We'll see in a couple of days if we find out anything else.

Check your power plan in settings in windows (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options), usually for laptops they are on balanced, you have to put it on high performance (assuming you keep the laptop plugged in).
Also, if you use the cpu for mining at the same time, expect some throttling.
