Hi All,

does anybody knows why my node keeps dying? It starts MN as active but active counter does not run. Then after few hours it dies and goes missing. No crash no error nothing.... just -1

So far I tried:

- Different HW - Desktop PC Linux Ubuntu 16/18 version Desktop PC
     - Windows 10 / Windows Server 2016 (all licensed) Laptop and Dell R420 server.
- With and without firewall enabled
- Different IP locations
- Behind the router and ass wide open straight to the internet (NIC to ISP)
- ISP confirmed not blocking anything on port 27577

Noting helped. Mobay tried and suggest move to VPS....

So Q's rises

MN is GEOLOCKED? VPS only? Locked to specific VPS supplier?

I've spend two weeks now fighting with this... my humor is starting to end Sad
If mn is bugged why there's no information available main site then? I've searched Telegram channel and found that 17 ppl including me had this problem out of 330 nodes it's 5% that's a huge error rate for software with assets management.

How we can debug this further? Suggestions?

PS. ain't moving to VPS i'm so anal tight about my data stored somewhere else....

Thank you all in advance!

I just thought I would post a reply here, for anyone not on the discord. To run a node, you need to use a VPS, just like 99% of the nodes out there, you can't just host it locally as it doesn't work. Mobay, the coder who worked on the wallet has mentioned this to you ThugB33 but you don't want to, which means it doesn't look like you will be able to run a node. I'm sorry if this is not to your liking but that's how it is.

I also wanted to clarify, you mention the 5% error rate.... well if you used the search function properly, you would notice every single other user who had this issue almost immediately was told the solution, which was to run the node from the command line and it runs just fine. so in truth, the "error rate" you calculated is vastly incorrect, its not  17/330, its 1/420 which equates to roughly 0.25% which isn't all that bad for such a small sample size....

Technically, its 0% as just because you don't want to take the steps to resolve your issue doesn't mean its an error at all, bug reports are greatly appreciated, but if its not a bug, they can't "fix" it.

Sorry, I'm not too sure what you mean by that.

thanks buddy, appreciated.

I would have hope that someone from the development team would have come in the thread to answer....

sorry to tell but this is a shame all those project in which dev team in not communicating appropriately.

I'm sorry I wasn't here to answer. Bitcointalk is by far our least used and sees the least amount of comments so it had fallen to the bottom of the priority list. We are currently working on quite a bit and hopefully, have some stuff to show the community soon. I had made 2 posts about exactly this, and how to update your wallet faster including one that I wrote out in about 2 hours detailing quite a bit and trying to answer as many questions as I could.

At the moment, I'm stretched between Twitter, our discord chat that is growing by the day (150 new users in the last week alone, 40 since yesterday), monitoring our reddit account, creating the ambassador program and choosing the members and also monitoring here. I'm truly sorry that bitcoin talk has gotten so low in priority but once we get these ambassadors in place (my goal is to have it up and running by Monday) then we will have members who will be delegated to a social platform and hopefully issues like this won't happen again.

Also, a huge thank you to everyone who has chipped in, in the meantime while I haven't been as present as we would like. Its been a blast getting this sorted out and setup, and once it is running at full bore, we should have a great team here and a community to match Cheesy

I'd also like to quell any sort of rumours about bittrex delisting THC.... as far as I can tell, these all started from 1. People making statements because they didn't like a decision we had made and 2. A post by bittrex, in JANUARY 2017, which is over a year ago. Back last year, we had come up as a possible coin to delist due to low consumer interest. However, we are in direct contact with bittrex and can get a message to them in literally seconds through our chat with them. They are well aware of what we are working on and as far as they tell us, have no intention of delisting TheHempcoin. And those who say it will happen due to a low value, haven't seen a real low value yet Tongue Yes, we fell from a huge high of $0.75 (roughly) to where we are now, around $0.17. However, bittrex doesn't delist coins based on their value, but their daily volume. If you check their own support forums for what it takes to be delisted (outside of any huge issue) you would need a volume of UNDER 0.5 BTC per day, even with our lower than normal volume right now, we are still sitting above 150BTC a day, that's almost 300x above the minimum to worry about being delisted.

Anyway, I hope that has helped some of you, and if anyone else still wants help updating the wallet, a wonderful user posted a bootstrap that they made on their own (thank you, its really appreciated) and you can use that, or, if you would prefer to have a bit more of a walkthrough, I've posted it before, but there is a link in our sidebar (reddit) to tutorials that might help, including the one I wrote on how to manually update using my data from Dec 2017. Also, I noticed someone saying they were updating every time they started the wallet, that is normal. If you have shut off the wallet it won't be synced between the times you turned it off and on, so it needs to catch up. I also thought I noticed them say they would delete the files and start the syncing process over and it was still taking ages... That would be the issue, if you are syncing your wallet, just let it run, chances are if you WERE synced previously, it will only take a few minutes to get back up to date. However, by deleting the files and syncing what you are doing is completely starting the process all over again, from scratch. Either way, hopefully this can help. I'm sorry if I misread anything and that isn't the case but if you would like some more help feel free to join our discord and myself or any of our ambassadors will be more than ready to assist Cheesy

Sorry I haven't replied to any comments on the link I posted for the sync update. I rarely use bitcointalk (tbh I made the account just to post the link and haven't come back yet) as I'm pretty busy between work, moderating the subreddit, and just having a life Tongue Either way, I've seen a few posts about things that were either incorrect or just asking for help.

Well, for starters here is a short list of things I'm going to try to cover/answer here

1. How to quickly sync your wallet - for those who are still having issues
2. Where can you mine THC currently
3. Masternode info
4. Info pertaining to the upcoming hardfork
5. A link to our subreddit for those who would like to chat there and join our little community

1.  So, I saw quite a few posts about how to get your wallet to sync and I've noticed that With The Lemons has either created their own wallet or linked an updated wallet (just got home and really don't feel like taking the time to look into which ever it is, sorry for the laziness) and that seems to resolve quite a few issues, however, if you would still prefer to use the older/other wallet my instructions should still hold true and I'll post them here rather than just a link to my post:

"This file may only work on Windows as that's the system I am using. Also, I would highly recommend backing up your wallet before importing this as if it causes errors you always want to have a backup point. Below I'll cover how to install this and get yourself synchronized in an hour or so.

  • Firstly, download the file.
  • Make sure you have closed the wallet (program)
  • Navigate to C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Hempcoin
    • The "AppData" folder may be hidden by default, I've added instructions below on how to get to it if it is hidden on your PC
  • Before you do anything else, copy all these files to a safe location as a backup (Desktop or My Documents work fine)
  • Open the previously downloaded file with a program like WinZip
  • Extract the files to the location you just found (C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Hempcoin)
  • It should ask if you would like to overwrite the files, say yes
  • Now that's all that you should have to do, you should be able to open the wallet again and it should only have maybe a few blocks to sync (depending on when you do this, the further from posting date the more syncing to do)
Now, if you open the wallet and for some reason, it doesn't work, then all you should have to do is copy the files you backed up back to where you got them and overwrite the ones you just put there.

Know that by following this tutorial you assume all the risk, and I am not responsible for any issues that arise.

AppData folder Instructions:

  • press CTRL+R (this should pop up a small window called "Run" in the corner of your screen
  • type %appdata% and hit the enter key (this should open file explorer and bring you to C:\Users\yourusername\Appdata\
  • Find the folder here named "Hempcoin" (it might be thehempcoin or hempcoin wallet)
  • Now continue with the instructions and copy the files to this location, then restart your wallet and it should show something like 100-200 files to sync as opposed to 2,000,000+"

2.  Currently, the only place that I am aware of (and I think anyone else on our sub) is mining-dutch however, in trying to reach their website to verify what I am posting it looks like that right now, their server blew a cooling system so it is down for a bit, however it does say mining will resume tommorow (as of posting it is Jan 24th at 7pm) Nevertheless their website is: https://www.mining-dutch.nl/ and I have personally mined a few THC there, however, due to their algo its not as profitable as other coins so I mine an alt and trade to THC.

3.  Now, onto info about their masternodes. So far unless I have missed something, the only info we have is that a masternode will require 20,000THC to be run. Just to confirm as I've seen here and plenty of other places that the masternode will be 10,000 or 50,000... However, the only confirmed number from the devteam is 20,000THC. Hope this clears some stuff up

4.  Bear with me here, we are getting to the end Tongue Now, about this hardfork. I would really like to clear a few things up, granted I'm in no way associated with the devteam besides that I have talked with them but I seem to see plenty of rumours flying around about when we are having this fork...

I can understand why, seeing as there hasn't exactly been tons of info coming out about it but I'm going to assume that it's down to the devteam just being too busy coding and working to make sure we have a smooth fork instead of sitting on Twitter. Personally, I'd rather wait and have the team 100% ready for the fork instead of just forking ASAP because the public wants it and having it go less smooth. I digress, I have strayed from my point and that is as follows:

Loads of comments on reddit, twitter, and here all seem to be saying that the fork is on either January 26th or 31st, however I can assure you, that is incorrect (at least the 26th is wrong, not sure about 31st however). Anyways, the reasoning is usually that the posts on the coin radar or coin calendar all say that they are forking on Jan 31st, and that is true, however, everyone forgets, these websites are usually based on information posted by the community. The devteam doesn't post this info and as great as we are as a community, sometimes we misinterpret things. The 31st is the last day of January so someone posted on one of the coin calendar websites that we will be forking ON January 31st, however, the 31st is just the deadline based on a previous tweet saying "hard fork IN Jan". Second, the date of the 26th is 100% wrong and the dev has actually confirmed this in a message I got a while back saying the 26th is merely an update about the fork, not the date of the fork.

Personally, I'm hoping that all this pressure from the community doesn't force them to fork too early and before they're ready or else we could be looking at some pretty significant issues. I'd prefer to just wait, and let them get their ducks in a row and continue. One of the devs has mentioned that they left the coin years ago due and has since returned seeing that we have taken off and also considering the new opinions in the market involving hemp and marijuana as a whole and I would hate to see a team who isn't ready to fork, do it just because of the community. I'd say let them get their programming and code working as they would like and then have a fork. Forking is usually great for the coin and a sign of updates and changes, however loads of coins end up failing due to a fork and seeing the kind of weight that we are carrying as the THC community, I would hate to lose all of that because of forking too early, right?

5.  At least this section is easy, right?

http://reddit.com/r/thehempcoin

Feel free to checkout our sub, leave a comment if you'd like and stay tuned! I've got a bot(I say bot, but in all honesty its just an IFTTT profile that I used... in the effort of being transparent I thought id share that I guess...) that will automatically post all the tweets from the devteam so if there are updates, you should see them on the subreddit almost immediately too!

For anyone having issues syncing the wallet, checkout this post u made on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/thehempcoin/comments/7lxak5/_/ you can download my updated node and start syncing from December 2017 as opposed to November 2014, it will still take maybe an hour or two but it will be eons faster this way. Also feel free to poke around on the subbreddit, the mod is pretty AFK but a few of us have taken to trying to improve it and make sure any outlandish statements are fact checked. I just made this account to help out anyone with syncing errors so I've you've got questions it's best to get me on Reddit.
