I even have reason to suspect one a while back was an alt of TF, though I can't confirm it beyond a reasonable doubt.

Very interesting...
2  Other / Meta / Re: About releases of IP addresses and other info on: January 06, 2014, 04:25:08 PM
I hate to ask you this again, but... some time has past and it's become obvious that TradeFortress is not willing to attempt to resolve the situation with inputs.io, coinlenders, and his various bonds and shares. I'd like to request the forum release the information it has on TradeFortress.

He has made no contact at all with victims since early December and shows no intention of trying to resolve the situation in anyway.

It is also quite obvious he has used alt accounts in the past and there is evidence to suggest he still continues to. I'd like if you could provide his IP's and alt accounts, at the very least to prevent any further fraudulent activity.

Edit: I typed this out before the other requests... sorry for bombarding you with requests.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitpay hacked FUD! It's bullshit! on: January 04, 2014, 10:24:39 PM
I really hope you're fucking joking.

No.

I made a $26 profit!

I am happy!

If the rumours are false then i am sure that Bitcoin will still be here tomorrow, $30 +/- what it is today. What is the problem?

I claim your exchange is about to be hacked... I could've just made that up, who knows, but you better buy back those BTC's so you can withdraw your balance before it is stolen. Pennies to lose if I just made that up, all of your BTC to lose if I'm right.
4  Other / Meta / Re: The forum is now unusable via Tor on: January 04, 2014, 05:58:13 AM
I go through the ban list and remove them every week or two.

Didn't know that. That sounds good. Perhaps some old account was banned recently because most of the exit nodes are banned right now.
5  Other / Meta / Re: The forum is now unusable via Tor on: January 04, 2014, 05:47:53 AM
I'd imagine its people that use Tor that end up getting IP Banned, not that Tor nodes were specifically targeted. I could be wrong though, but that is my best guess.

Yes thats exactly what it is, Theymos has confirmed this before. Somebody using Tor gets banned and every exit they were using gets banned too. But now it's got to the point where Tor is unusable and Tor exit nodes should be auto-unbanned. Perhaps a cronjob that runs every couple of days that scrapes the Tor exit API and removes the IP's from the banlist.

Or, even better, bitcointalk.org runs a Tor hidden service. It would that solve this problem, be very easy to do and the people using it would be protected from SSL MITM attacks, one of which happened to bitcointalk a few weeks ago. Downside is the extra admin time that would be required to run a Tor client.

I'd be willing to donate to a bounty for either of these. Would donate a lot more for a hidden service though!
6  Other / Meta / The forum is now unusable via Tor on: January 04, 2014, 05:25:16 AM
The forum is now unusable via Tor. Almost all exit nodes are banned. Everytime I start Tor I have to hit "new identity" and try again over and over. It took 14 times to login to this session. You also have to change the MaxCircuitDirtiness or you will be banned by the time you hit "Submit" on your post.

Now that theymos is fixing things, please unban Tor exit nodes. If needs be I would pay towards a bounty to have this implemented.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is REALLY BAD news for Bitcoin on: January 03, 2014, 06:35:05 AM
Troll or stupid.

If you actually believed the NSA were not developing Quantum computing you are very naive.

The article linked above can be used to protect you right now without any changes to the protocol. But what most people do not mention when talking about quantum computers is that we have had public key cryptosystems that are quantum-safe for over 30 years

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McEliece_cryptosystem

Released in 1978 and is safe from Shor's algorithm. Absolutely no reason why we can't use something similar to this instead of ECC once it's been studied more and proven safe.
8  Other / Meta / Re: Alternate crypto is huge on: January 03, 2014, 05:35:29 AM
We should just delete every altcoin thread. They don't belong here, people using them are taking huge risks. None of them have any sort of third-party audit, most of them are just sending you unsigned compiled binaries that could be packed with spyware and all sorts of nasty shit. All of them are pump-and-dump schemes as far as  I'm concerned. Seriously people, dogecoin, your taking the piss...
9  Other / Meta / Re: Should the admin install the Tapatalk forum plugin, so we can use Tapatalk to ac on: January 03, 2014, 05:31:07 AM
You know it's time we need a new bitcoin forum when you have different sections for altcoins, 9/10 Tor exits are banned, and there are multiple threads asking for tapatalk... I miss the old bitcoin forum with it's tinfoil hat wielding users, where everybody was a sockpuppet, where the second post on every lending thread was "I can do this, BTC sent", where the few scammers were professional as hell because scammers were afraid of being doxxed by us...

If I had a time machine I would undo bitcoin adoption, the community is now full of hipsters with iPhones and shit who spend their day trying to profit like fuck off of bitcoin and end up getting scammed by some 11 year old kid...
10  Other / Off-topic / Re: LOL religious site has same layout as bitcointalk on: December 05, 2013, 05:42:34 AM
All that donation and advertising money thermos collected and we are using a copy paste cheapo cookie cutter website template with a half ass trust feedback system.

Its nice to know that coin is being used to improve the quality of the bitcoin website instead of being wasted on blow and hookers.

http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/forum/index.php?topic=55214.0

We are using the default layout for SMF. In fact we're using almost default setup for SMF with additional patches to fix security vulnerabilities.

About the forum money, the only reason Theymos has collected so much money is because he didn't spend it. He could've spent most of it back when BTC was under $1 and the forum would now have very little money.

The development of new forum software does need to hurry on though...
11  Economy / Lending / Re: Lending up to 0.05BTC use your account as collateral! on: November 28, 2013, 08:43:01 PM
He deleted all his posts, I think I scared him away... Cheesy
12  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: CoinLenders Lawsuit on: November 28, 2013, 06:15:09 PM
I think this is very unlikely now. Since this happened I've had faith of at least getting something back. The fact TF hasn't been seen for days says a lot.

A few people have talked to him recently. Progress has been made, TradeFortress finally filed a police report.
13  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: CoinLenders Lawsuit on: November 28, 2013, 04:49:32 PM
Could you translate that article and post it for the English people :p

Also I thought tf lived in Australia
Why do I think this... :s

He lives in Sydney, Australia but is originally from Beijing, China

15  Other / Meta / Request to theymos to dump IP addresses used by TradeFortress on: November 28, 2013, 03:05:38 PM
From what I understand the forum will disclose the IP addresses used by a user in certain situations.

Given that TradeFortress has been unresponsive for the most part since 11/21 and has discontinued reimbursements, and still has at least 1300BTC as I proved in this thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=346236.0 - and that a class action lawsuit and police report have been filed, I am submitting a request for theymos to dump the IP's that TradeFortress has used.

This information would be useful as a number of IP's belonging to TradeFortress are in public domain, however many of these belong to a prepaid Optus 3G account with no information on file, however it has since been discovered that TradeFortress used a DSL Telstra connection in the past which may have information that can subpoena'd.

If theymos is unable or unwilling to dump the IP list, I ask if theymos can confirm whether or not TradeFortress had used an IP assigned to the ISP Telstra at one point, and if so if he is willing to post those IP's and the dates they were used.

I also ask if it is possible for theymos to check for alt accounts and if any are found to post those, paying particular attention to any possible alts registered before the TradeFortress account.

Here you go:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Change

You must have accidentally entered 0.0038 when sending, the remainder went to one of your change addresses.

Add this to list
1Q2YzudqXqEbRje6zopiZRtExZwwZXEx8z

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=110566.0;wap2

Added. The script I used to generate this list seems to be broken and is missing a lot of addresses. I'll post an updated list soon.
18  Other / Meta / Re: PIA and Bitcointalk. on: November 26, 2013, 11:22:40 PM
PIA is a honeypot, all US VPN providers are legally wrangled by the FBI to do so. Look at lavabit, the FBI of course told the same thing to every VPN provider, web mail, etc.. Lavabit and silent circle are the only two that defied.

Well..not exactly. The US is one of very few countries in the world that do not require VPN/proxies to keep logs. Most countries do. In that sense its safe, but of course they can still be forced by a government agency to "start" logging, but the same applies everywhere else and anything that happened before they start logging will remain safe.

I still would not use a US VPN provider though. and especially not PIA, because it's PPTP service uses the broken MSCHAPv2 encryption leaving it vulnerable to MITM attacks. It also uses L2TP w/ IPSEC which I am told is worse but I do not personally have any experience with cracking that. Their SOCKS service goes without saying, that is very straight forward to execute MITM attacks with. When your choosing a VPN make sure their crypto is secure, thats one of the main things.

Not to mention a VPN provider can MITM you themselves. They can see all of your unencrypted data and modify it if they want to.

To be honest, using a VPN to stay anonymous is not a good idea. In many cases it can aid someone in de-anonymizing you. Use a VPN for privacy and security, especially if you use public internet, but not to do anything that requires anonymity.

TradeFortress has been logging into various online accounts since the 23rd/10 right before the hack. Some of these haven't been used in years so I'm assuming it was an attempt to delete identifying information, too little too late...
