2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ebay auction - Jupiter - Look at the terms, guy has lawyer and more reqs on: December 09, 2013, 04:03:58 AM
Seems ridiculous to me, and unnecessary ...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/KNC-Bitcoin-Miner-Jupiter-500-ghs-IN-Hands-NOT-A-PRE-ORDER-Gently-Used-/261344827594?ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:US:3160

PAYMENT / DELIVERY INFORMATION. READ CAREFULLY:
Because I have had payments reversed on selling bitcoins by PayPal before, I TYPICALLY WON'T take PayPal payments for crypto currency transactions.  Since I am listing this on Ebay, I will accept PayPal with a 30 day-hold.  This means, if you win the auction, after you pay, I will ship your item in 30 days to ensure there are no bank or fraud problems.  I will ship anywhere in the USA for free. During this 30 day PayPal-hold, you give me the right to keep the machine running & mining for myself. If you are local in my city, we can meetup in person & will take cash (of whatever the auction ends at) - AT a PUBLIC place, preferably my lawyer's office.  For buyers outside of the United States, I will require you throw in extra for shipping charges. For users who want to pay via BitCoin: I am unsure how much interest this is, but as of right now I will take 10 bitcoins for this, unless the auction reaches higher over that value first. IF you pay by BitCoin or in-person at my lawyer's office (security on site) it will be shipped immediately. To protect not only you, but me, I have came up with a solution that should make us feel both comfortable in the transaction if you want it shipped & want to pay by BitCoin.  If you do not want to make the full BitCoin payment upfront, I will take 5 bitcoins & then require a scanned copy of your license (showing name and address) or passport (showing full name) along with a signed agreement that you will send the other 5 bitcoins upon receiving the package within 24 hours. I don't want to deal with any refunds.

Thanks, I looked for a while but did not see any threads.  Got one?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What happens when all Bitcoins have been mined? on: November 22, 2013, 10:10:50 AM
Bitcoin miners help with processing transactions for bitcoin,  but what happens when all the miners are no longer mining since all bitcoins are discovered?

Who and what will assist the ongoing need for processing power?

If you have someone's phone number, what is that going to do for you? Pirateat40 nabbed 1 Million Bitcoins, and his address, name, phone number, etc was all known information. Had he not been busted by the Gov for being involved in a ponzi, nothing else would have happened. If you threaten someone who has taken your internet funny money, you are the criminal. I'm not sure what suing would do, I know a while ago Bitcoin wasn't considered money nor a commodity, so you couldn't sue over it. Not sure about now. I'm sure it has some legal process now, but I'm not sure what would come out of it.

I wouldn't share my information with anyone I don't trust personally either, like others have said, the internet is a funny place, and the general Bitcoin userbase tends to be people you don't really want hassling you.

So you would advise I go by this forum "trust" rating, and send someone $8000USD for a Jupiter miner based on that.  I'd like to know if the person I am buying from is located in Nigeria,  have you ever called someone in Nigeria?  I have.. numerous times, pretty easy to tell it's not the deal you want to make at that point.  I've called scammers all over the world,  not going to give away too much information about that, but basically with a phone call I can tell you if I'm comfortable or not with a purchase.

Maybe the Nigerians have not discovered this forum yet,  when they do.. I have a feeling everyone's process of purchase will change.

Having a phone number tells you a lot,  but talking to them tells you much more.  How can anyone in their right mind send money to someone without doing this basic bit of due diligence?

Anyone dealing with myself will know who I am within moments of the phone call,  my company, my online history, etc.

I advise anyone wanting to purchase anything,  DO NOT PURCHASE without calling them first.  If they won't let you call them,  don't do it.

No offense, but I wouldn't share any of my contact info with my clients here, and I think they have been served well and I don't have any complaints.

INSANE business practice,  "I won't give them any of my information,  they have to trust me".  What are you hiding?   No thanks,  anyone not willing to give me basic information about who they are is not going to get my money for any items.

Look at the "SCAM" category of this forum.  FULL of complaints.

I can't believe anyone would be so naive as to make a purchase in this manner.

Well from what I see, this forum has it's fair share of fraud users.  There's no way I'm going to purchase anything without some verification,  I don't care what their "trust" rating is.

Why do other members not want to release their phone number or other information?

12  Economy / Goods / Re: I want to buy CASASCIUS PHYSICAL BITCOIN - Please help me choose on: November 15, 2013, 05:14:13 AM
Thank you Chainsaw, that was very informative!   I did win an auction on Ebay for Error 2011 Casascius .. re seller is in Finland,  I just hope it's legit.
13  Economy / Goods / I want to buy CASASCIUS PHYSICAL BITCOIN - Please help me choose on: November 14, 2013, 06:17:05 AM
Hello All,  I've checked Ebay and normally I'd just jump in and buy one but I notice some are going more than others.  I understand they are not worth nearly as much if they have been reloaded.  But I do see 2011, and 2013.  Some seem uncirculated, some not.

I have a friend that's just interested in getting 1BTC and probably not that interested in anything rare,  just wants to invest with a 1 Bitcoin purchase

I'm interested in the Casascius Bitcoins, but I can't find any guide about the different versions that are out there.

Can anyone offer suggestions in investing in physical bitcoins?   TIA
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to mining - I have an edge, my power is free - scaling to 7 TH/s now on: November 01, 2013, 06:14:42 AM
You have no edge. Power costs for most miners are so low that it is not much of a factor.

I'm curious what hash rate you got for you $54,000. That will determine if you have an edge or not.

$54k is total investment after all Asic orders coming in, the last order from Cointerra won't come in until mid January.
Currently spent around $36,000, not all units are online,  waiting for some PSU's as Butterfly's provided PSU's with their 60GH/s are a real fire hazard.. had one pop and smoke (not UL rated).
Projected Hash Rate in next week will be:  1,460,000 Mh/s

I think power costs would be significant for someone running Qty. 2 Jupiters, Qty. 6 60Gh/s Butterfly and one old Minirig

Minirig alone draws 17 amps of power.

17 amps is a lot, but rates are between $0.05 and $0.20 per kWH, depending on where you are, so the minirig costs are only $0.10 to $0.40 per hour. That's not much compared to how much it mines. Furthermore, the CoinTerra miners only consume 0.5 kW/TH/s and the 2 TH/s miner only costs $0.05 - $0.20 per hour in electricity.

What about cooling?  Unless you live some place that is cold weather.

I bought my gold from:
https://www.amagimetals.com   their website is excellent,  small hiccup using coinbase as a wallet but it worked fine

This is my first post,  they say it has to be "substantial".. ok here it goes

I've made a $54,000 investment into hardware, and now I'm starting to get my money back.   I have no cost for power so I do feel
I have a serious edge over other miners.  My power costs for the Asics I have, is already covered by other means.  Essentially I have
power just waiting to be used at no cost.

I'm now trying to get my account approved so I can PM some of the other users that will help me convert some of the Bitcoins I have
into Gold / Silver.
