1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Repeating the price cycle every 4 years on: June 26, 2021, 04:41:12 PM
Say you produce a good and you sell it for 100 USD the unit. You have a complete infrastructure, machinery, workers, and all the costs you can imagine. You are in the business, so selling this good for 100 USD pays all your expenses leaving a profit. Now imagine that every 4 years you must reduce the price per unit 50%. You now have the same costs to produce the good + a projection of inflation for the next 4 years but you get half the money. What would you do? Increasing the good price to sustain your profit and maybe adding some value to face the next 4 years of inflation sounds like a good plan.

Once ppl realizes about this behavior, they can make money getting your product previous to the price rise + toying with the assets. Speculation starts and your prices are pumped beyond what you projected for the next 4 years.

It's pretty straightforward. Take a look at the historical graphics.  It is impossible to ignore this pattern ...
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: The calm before the storm? on: June 08, 2021, 07:17:26 PM
We are just going through the slow entry to a bear market. Same arguments and hopes I saw in 2014 and 2018 ...
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we ever see $10k per BTC? on: June 05, 2021, 04:54:56 PM
If 65K was the top then we will most likely see 10K or even less at some point before the next recovery and ATH.

Can someone explain how do you get into this ICO?
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reverse Bubble 2021 on: May 26, 2021, 09:42:12 PM
I truly think we are slowly going into Bear season. As always, the bull-bear transition will not be clear and lots of indicators will point to a re-flourish of the Bull market. This is how these transitions work: if people could know for sure the rising is over, then everybody would sell. I started converting some BTC to stable when we first hit 45K and kept doing so from 45 to 62K. Right now I am mostly in FIAT waiting for the prices to go down. Just as I started selling my crypto at a point and followed a plan, I will start rebuying crypto from 35K and down. I expect to buy most of my crypto between 10 and 15K. Last weekend CMC reported 1T less market cap in relation to the moment in which I saw the highest MC ever, which was 2.4T. Now it's kind of unclear b/c Elon is our friend, Goldman Sachs is embracing crypto as an asset and Dalio is vouching for Bitcoin. This last weekend, however, the massive drop and the end of the bull was way more obvious. We will see, nobody knows for sure but my guts tell me we will re-discuss this a few times more with bitcoin at lower positions until we finally accept that this bull run is done.

The good news is that we have some cheap coins coming Wink

That graphic looks a lot like daily BTC inverted  Wink
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: alert app on: April 14, 2021, 09:00:50 AM
Hi guys,

May you recommend percentage based price alert app or site for crypto, as a plus stocks, metals, etc?

Pricing per month is around $10, but sometimes up to $20 as far as i see for such kind of apps. I only notice after price rockets or drops too much. I need a simple manner app, so i don't want to use exchanges' complex alerts, etc.

Whatsapp, Slack notifications, etc is fine Smiley

Cheers,

I use Blockfolio to keep track of my portfolio and Bitcoin Ticker Widget to set alerts up Wink
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC dump breaks through 53K resistance barrier on: March 25, 2021, 01:38:27 PM
Some of you might have seen the massacre that's taking place right now, with BTC experiencing massive sell orders tumbling it under 53K...

What are everyone's thoughts at the moment? Do you still HODL when sell orders as high as 49M are coming through breaking any resistance there was?

It would be interesting to see people's thoughts, as I'm sure many are panicking right now.

Comments & feedback will be appreciated as always Wink

So far we are experiencing a 15ish% correction. No big deal, this one was coming. According to CM, the complete crypto reported MC lost around 0.3T.
Two outcomes: 1) it does not break 50K and starts building up again, 2) it goes to 40-45K ranges and makes a deeper correction. Personally, I do not see a 40/50 correction happening yet. I handle these dips such as I handle the pumps. FIAT to Exchange, buy at certain points while it's going down until my money is out or the whole thing changes directions and starts recovering. HODL. Ofc for this you have to see this shitstorm coming and sell some coins before the dip starts.
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have a relatives who ask advise to invest, what should I do? on: March 20, 2021, 11:11:55 PM
I just want to share my experience, I have a relative who come to me and ask advise on what coins to invest now, I don't name a coin and I said he must do his research but he insist that I know, he want to invest immediately.

I know he is into FOMO because he seems so aggressive and like to get instant return.
He told me that since I'm a veteran, he would like to ask some advise on what coins will pump in the coming days so he can invest on it.

I knew he is so positive, and I can feel him since I also got FOMO'd before.

What do you think should I do guys? how can I help him?

I don't like the word "investment" related to Bitcoin and other cryptos in general. Unless you know how the cycles of Bitcoin work and you are fully aware of how your money can take up to 5 years to start making more money, the word "investment" is vicious. We all know that Bitcoin is high now. Is it going to go higher? Nobody knows. But we do know that at a certain point we will see a huge correction and Bitcoin may drop to 50/60% of its highest value.

People willing to "invest" money usually expect to have returns in the short term. They can handle 6/12 months of ROI, but can they wait until 2025? So you probably can explain to your relative that in 2013 many people bought Bitcoin at 1800 USD and then watched it dump to 300. Also how many people got on board in 2018 at 19000 USD to see it go to 3000 USD in a couple of months.

Those who were able to hold their coins probably made really good money. Is your relative willing to take that risk?
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Has Elon Musk's twit caused the Bitcoin bubble burst? on: February 23, 2021, 09:31:56 PM
Has Elon Musk's tweet caused the bitcoin bubble to burst? Will it be the beginning of the bitcoin crash?

Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Janet Yellen, the Tether drama by NYAG. You can keep seeking for coincidences. Truth is that the price skyrocketed to 58K and, as always, a correction was expected. Is this the one that will close the bull season? The next few days will tell. Meanwhile, if you made a profit with the Dec/Feb raise, take some.
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: Correction is coming on: February 23, 2021, 09:12:04 PM
Sell your coins while you can, price is almost certain to correct downwards by at least 50% over next few months.

yeap, that's FUD ;P
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don’t Panic II on: February 16, 2021, 10:59:11 PM
We all knew that at some point Bitcoin was going to pass the last ATH and go higher. The reason why we all knew this is that Bitcoin followed this pattern in the past, some time (~1 year) after halvings. We also know how all those new ATH in the past ended up. I don't see why this time it could be different. Corporate money coming in does not explain the way Bitcoin and the Alts are behaving. Whales are still doing their thing and, as usual, will pump the whole market until an irrational point and then burst the bubble. To me, it's just a matter of when. While I see it happening, I take profit transforming the little numbers on the screen to some FIAT (I don't mean USDT on Exchanges, I mean those funny green papers). Will I sell all my coins? No fucking way. But I will sell some as I see it goes up and up. I just know it's gonna bounce and it will go above most of my exit points. The good news is that, if I am wrong I still have a lot of coins to be happy about it Wink
13  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don’t Panic on: January 13, 2021, 01:44:49 PM
These drops happen in a way people will not run to sell massively. I always think of the "frog not panicking in water gradually getting hotter and hotter until it boils" analogy. The Bitcoin price behaves like that: it goes down a lot, you feel the heat, then it goes up a little so you think "oh, it might be a correction and then we go to 50k", then it drops a bit more, and so on and so forth. You get the point ...

To me what matters is that these skyrocketing prices are always lead by whales pumping to get others onboard per FOMO, and then selling high. We don't have that much money nor know when they will decide to sell and take profit. All we can do is to take some profits while we see it going up. Time will tell if this huge drop was just a correction on the shortly coming way to new ATH or the highest point we will see for some years ...
14  Economy / Speculation / Re: Play smart, set exit points, take profit, re-enter on: January 13, 2021, 12:45:54 PM

[...] you can sell some portion but do not sell all your bitcoin at once, instead set the target at a higher point, probably at $100k during the bull run market or at least until Q4 2020 that the value might hit the peak.

This was precisely what my OP said. Set exit points such as 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, and sell some BTCs to take profit. You can buy cheaper when the corrections occur or just convert to FIAT and cash out. Corrections will happen. Even if you think it's gonna hit 100K, it will correct a couple of times until your target. It's not about selling all your coins, it's about programming little sells that will most likely let you get back in cheaper.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Play smart, set exit points, take profit, re-enter on: January 09, 2021, 02:54:08 PM
Good on theory, bad on practice for the past 30 days results.

IMO the current turbulent market conditions are not allowing selling and re-entering at a lower price.

Not if Bitcoin drops to 30K next week ...
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: Play smart, set exit points, take profit, re-enter on: January 08, 2021, 05:30:44 PM
And now I still see your thread as fund that you are putting through. Although you are correct as it happened in the past, yes  Grin. So you making an early fud, lol. Anyway, this time may also be different because so many things are now involved and adoption keeps increasing with big players.

I disagree re: my post being FUD. I am just saying, "program exits as the price goes up b/c history shows that Newton's law applies to BTC as well". It's not that hard to grasp; I am not saying sell all your coins; it's gonna crash! What I say is, ok, it's skyrocketing, and we all know a hard correction will come at the end, so if you have 10 BTC, it might be clever to sell 0.5 at 40K, 0.5 at 45K, and so forth.

I don't advise selling everything. You gotta do it in a way that will be positive for you on both outcomes: if BTC drops to 25K (something very plausible), you will have FIAT on the Exchange to get back in and probably double your BTCs. If instead, it goes to 250K, you still have some BTCs and made some USD.

I guess this does not apply to those hodling until the year 2030. But for those that cash out coins on a regular basis like me (I own a crypto-related project funded with crypto) to setup take profit points is what allows me to have some fun and earnings while whales make the big money.

17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Play smart, set exit points, take profit, re-enter on: January 08, 2021, 06:15:51 AM
I don't agree with OP, as he is trying to time the market.

I am and it had some neat results in the past when I timed it and got out following a scheme until it all crashed. If you think I did not buy more Bitcoin once the whole thing went to the floor and I had USD from those sells into the Exchange you just don't get my point at all. I am not predicting when it will burst, just telling that it will.
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: Play smart, set exit points, take profit, re-enter on: January 08, 2021, 06:11:24 AM
Well people keep saying, "what if its different this time". And what if it is? The proof is a stock like TESLA which made Elon Musk the richest man on the planet today. The entire market cap of Tesla exceeds the combined market cap of all automakers currently. And when you are driving around, you see Toyota's, Fords, Dodge's. How often do you see a Tesla? Almost never in my area.

So markets are not making any sense right now. It can top at $40K or it can top at even $400K. People are at home, bored, and nothing else to do buy purchase Tesla options and Bitcoins.

I would not compare BTC with TESLA man. I am not into TESLA details but you do see that EV are the future and Musk seems to have one or two innovative products on that market. On the other hand, Bitcoin is just a medium to store value that performs really badly in terms of its costs, decentralization, and scalability. If you take a look at Bitcoin history, its price is mostly stable with the exception of these massive P&Ds that usually come some time after halvings. And every time ppl thinks "This might be the one that's different".

It's going to go up until a certain point and it will then do a massive correction. If I am wrong and it hits the 400K I will be a very happy man. I am never selling all my coins, I just set some exit points and sell portions as I see the price goes up.
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Play smart, set exit points, take profit, re-enter on: January 08, 2021, 05:55:03 AM

I'm just going to say thatanyone selling now is also at a risk of buying higher if he or she plans to re-enter since BTC has been crushing the market. It briefly breached $40,000 hours ago and I don't think it'll be stopping there. Who knows if correction comes after $100,000? If it does correct, will you re-enter when the new bottom is $50K?

I never said ppl should sell now. All I say is: set exit points at some numbers and anticipate the correction (not talking about the small ones, but the big one, when the bubble bursts). Do you believe that it's gonna make it to 100K? Then set your exit points according to that. Re: me not being a Hodler, I never said I was. I get paid in crypto and do have most of my savings in crypto as well. Don't know about what's the HODLERS bible.
20  Economy / Speculation / Play smart, set exit points, take profit, re-enter on: January 08, 2021, 02:02:14 AM
Been here since 2013 and I already saw this happening at least twice (2014, 2018). The price skyrockets, predictions are crazy, companies get in, adoption seems to get boosted, and many other things we are experiencing now. Then, one day the price goes down. From 1200 to 200 (2014), from 20000 to 3900 (2018). I know we all want this time to be different, but I truly think it's going to be the same.

Be Smart. Define points to sell and transform the numbers on your wallet on FIAT. Chances are you will see it crash and go much lower than your exits. If you are a holder, then this will allow you to buy cheaper.

Those are my two cents ...
