1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Best trading site? on: January 10, 2018, 10:59:33 AM
Hi Guys

I have tried the likes of Binance and Bitterex, but they aren't accepting any new users at the moment.

Poloniex have been processing my photo ID for over a couple days now, has anyone got any recommendations for alternatives?
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Looking for everyone's thoughts on: January 04, 2018, 04:33:04 PM
Hi Everyone

I am looking for what people are thinking would be a good rate to invest in Bitcoin at.

Obviously, this will be a low rate, but I have seen some say that as low as 1BC=$13.5k, is this plausible?

Thanks for the input.

Hi Guys

I am looking at investing for the first time, I currently use Blockchain as my wallet and Cryptopia for trading, would people say these two are okay to use?

Firstly, I will be looking at investing £1,000 on Bitcoin and then go for the long-held option,  most likely for the next 2-3 years, whilst keeping an eye out for spikes in value to sell say 40% at any given time during a spike.

I would like to keep 60% of the remaining value to (hopefully) climb, whilst also possibly spending 15% on alternative currencies e.g. Ripple.

As of now Bitcoin looks to be at a high value and I am waiting for a dip to buy mine, would you say this is a wise move, as I need to buy Bitcoin before looking at buying alt coins.

Any info would be great, thanks.

use a wallet that you have full access into it. blockchain.info is okay to store your bitcoin.
cryptopia? hmm.. I'll recommend binance, bittrex, and poloniex for now.
I suggest you to diversify your money into digital assets and free money (the money that might be needed to buy something (cryptocurrency) when there's a good moment for it).

for me: 80% digital assets, 20% free money.
the digital assets will be diversified in 3 class:
class 1 - 60% - Bitcoin 70:30 Ethereum (which is the top and popular coin)
class 2 - 30% - Litecoin, Ripple, XLM (you know it is popular but not enough point to place it on class 1  Grin)
class 3 - 10% - Aion, ADA, ICX, IOTA (the "rising star")

I keep getting my payment to buy via Blockchain declined via debit card for "security reasons", would you recommend anywhere else to buy them from, and I could then even transfer them to Blockchain.

What wallet do you use, have you got any other tips for a newbie? Smiley

Binance and Bitterex are not currently accepting new accounts, I am going to sign up to Poloniex.

Hi.
Your wallet is a very good wallet but I don't know of crytopia, why don't you try out Poloniex or Bittrex. They are very good trading platforms.
I very much like your trading strategy. It's a very good strategy.Holding 40% for pump in the price and the remaining 60% for a long term is a good idea.
I'm sure you will make massive profit even with only the 40%.

I did try to sing up for Bittrex but it was not taking any more sign ups, I am currently trying Poloniex now.

On Blockchain, I keep getting m payment to buy Bitcoin declined via debit card, is there anywhere else you would recommend to buy them from?

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Starting my first rig, any feedback is appreciated! on: January 01, 2018, 09:01:14 PM
The PSU gives you room to add more cards on the future so it is wise for you to buy a motherboard with 6 x PCIE slots. You can buy Asus H270 prime, I have one and it works out of the box with 4 cards and you need to enable 4G decoding for 5 or more cards. Everything else is fine.

Ok, thanks, I haven't loaded an OS to a motherboard, or started a machine up from scratch, would you say it is easy to do?

Also, do you have any recommendations for a pool to start with, most people are saying NiceHash...

My initial set up will be:

- 2 x Nvidia 1070 GPU's https://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070-windforce2-oc-v2-8gb-gddr5-graphics-card
- Intel Pentium Dual-Core G4400 3.3 GHz Processor CPU, I did read that the CPU isn't as important, so is this overkill? https://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-pentium-g4400-s-1151-skylake-dual-core-33ghz-3mb-cache-1000mhz-gpu-33x-ratio-54w-cpu-retail
- 100W Gold certified PSU https://www.scan.co.uk/products/1000w-corsair-rm1000-x-series-80-plus-gold-full-modular-sli-crossfire-single-rail-833a-plus12v-1x135
- PCI risers https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073F1QHZ5/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVCPMRF6NI2O&psc=1

And I have also found various rig frames on Amazon, as well as a power button and a version of Windows 10.

My only issue is finding a Motherboard that will be suited to run what I have found, some I have seen on Amazon have in-built PCI slots, whereas some don't. I am not the best with sourcing Motherboards, but once I have one that fits into the picture, I will be more than on my way.

Please let me know if I should add/remove any components, I will be looking at using the NiceHash program at first. Smiley

Wrote a series of intro to mining articles that might help you as well as initial build guides depending on your budget.  These may be able to help point you in the right direction for some of your questions.

Those were a good read and I am definitely going in the right direction now.

How many GPU's do you use, would you say it would be profitable with 3 Nvidia 1070's with a 4GHZ CPU?

Electricity costs would be next to nothing as I am renting.

Thanks!

cpu really doesnt matter in your case ...
free eletricity doesnt exist , someone paying for it. If your landlord giong to notice the power bill is 2x , 3x or 4x what he paid before , you going to pay for the power you using Smiley In this case make sure you know how much you have to pay for each kw/h you are using , including all the taxes and fees Smiley !!!
About the profitability i would suggest THIS topic you need to read Smiley

keep this in your mind :
None of those calculators you are seeing on the web can tell you what's coming tomorrow , months later or 6 months later , a year later!
Those calculators telling you about today , at that moment when you typing in your information !

Hi xxcsu

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Smiley

I think I would be up for "taking the leap of faith" into the lottery of mining cryptocurrency, initially I would be willing to put forward £1,000-£1,250 into GPU, CPU motherboard etc.

On your recent mining (if you have) would you say this is a positive move, or more money, more investment etc?

A noob like me can use all the help he can get, haha!

Google it. lot of good sites out there to help you out, like this one: www.coinminingrigs.com/

Good luck.

Thanks for the post, that guide seems like a good way to start.

Hi Guys,

I am new to the site and I am looking at starting a mining rig, however I will likely be a noob at first!

My first question is how can I calculate how much the GPU's will use, e.g. two Nvidia Geforce 1070's. Or if there is a better GPU, please point me in the right direction!

Before i start looking at buying the other components, I would like to know an estimate of how much power I will be using to then calculate how much potential profit I could make.

Any help is much appreciated.
