1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Relation between Satoshi and USD value when buying cryptos...? on: February 20, 2018, 11:40:22 PM
Hullo everyone,

Here's the deal. I've been buying electroneum every now and then to add to my position. As of late, the price has been around 7 cents in USD and 800 Satoshi. However, right now, electroneum is at 8 cents in USD and only 712 Satoshi. So right now electroneum is 88 satoshi cheaper than when I last bought it, but the value of electroneum is up a cent in USD. Is this an especially good time to buy? And if so, could you explain to me in laymen's terms the relation between satoshi values and usd values when buying cryptos. I mean ultimately I'm buying the etn with bitcoin so paying less bitcoin is great, however I paid USD cash to get that bitcoin. So should I be going as far back as considering how much USD I paid for the bitcoin, or can I just be like, "yep, I'm getting a fucking deal cause now it's only 712 satoshi instead of 800 and it's actually worth 1 more cent."

Sorry if this is ridiculously obvious, but I just want confirmation and want to know if this is indicative of a good time to add a little more to my electroneum holding?

Thanks
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Crypto Trust Network ICO: Something appealing to the masses! on: February 18, 2018, 10:36:28 PM
Greetings Comrades,

I was just meandering around the interweb and stumbled across something inordinately novel and practical. So many of the new cryptos coming out now are not geared towards the masses or people that don't know how to use and store crypto safely. Crypto Trust Network (CTN) is basically offering security services and metadata analytics of crypto transactions in order to build a safety profile of different wallets that are used all over the world. I know this sense of security and scrutiny in anathema to the crypto community, however, if you're a true believer in crypto and want to see mass adoption, a service like CTN is imperative.

Imagine you're some average joe who knows nothing about crypto, but you have a safeguard like CTN that allows you to conduct yourself with a bit more confidence. They have this awesome feature where you enter the wallet address you're sending to and it does a scan of the address to see if it's a legitimate address, at which point you'll see a green check mark, if it's a dubious wallet address, you'll see a red-check mark.

In order for CTN to achieve their goal of assessing risk among various transactions, they will need the ability to collect large amounts of data. This sounds big brother-ish I know, but pretty much everything you utilize in every aspect of you life these days is being collected as huge amounts of metadata that allow companies to offer quality metrics that tell you truly valuable and empirical information about what you're about to do, who you're doing it with, if that wallet has been related to a scam, etc.

An even cooler feature, which seems near impossible, is tracking down stolen funds. They specifically acknowledge the difficulty of trying to trace funds that have been transferred via privacy coins, specifically monero. In cases such as that, they said there is not as much they can do, but they can look for when the funds come back as visible money, i.e., when they try using an exchange to convert them into bitcoin or cash out with any various currency.

Here's the caveat for the crypto purists that see this as intrusion, there is no way that the world would ever let crypto exist without creating ways to monitor it. In this case though, we are still in a better position than we were before crypto arrived, so this is still a victory for us because we have and will continue to have more privacy. Furthermore, there is always monero and other privacy coins that can more or less circumvent intense scrutiny from outside parties.

What's MOST important to keep in mind here, regardless if you hate this idea or like it is that it will bring legitimacy and relief to people who are hesitant about using crypto due to the risks that they're not well-informed enough to handle themselves. For crypto to go mainstream and really 'make it' it's inevitable that we will need services like CTN to offer protection and risk management to big corporations who are sending large amount of money to faceless crypto wallets. I see CTN as an indicator that crypto is here to stay, people that are not crypto purists are getting into the space because they see the legitimate potential of blockchain and all the possibilities it offers.

Also, as of now, Crypto Trust Network is just a private company offering a proprietary algorithm to build a risk assessment score on potential transactions you make. They are not the police, they are not giving information freely to police, they are offering their proprietary service to paying customers. They've created a CTN token that is the sole manner in which you can pay for their service. Additionally, they do plan on making their tokens available on various exchanges so holders can liquidate their tokens if need be and desirous users of their service may purchase the tokens in order to use the CTN safety analytics.

They're in ICO right now, which can be found at: https://cryptotrust.network/ . I am very impressed by their page, their white paper, their FAQ, and their team seems capable, though bios on everyone would be great. Additionally, they seem to be backed by two venture capital firms which can be seen at the bottom of the homepage next to the picture of their strategic advisor. They are accepting Ether as payment for tokens at the rate of $1 per CTN. See you guys on the moon!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOStoken (IOST) thoughts about this one? on: February 16, 2018, 05:07:51 PM
May I ask what parts of this coin are unappealing to you? It's using new tech. Efficient Distributed Sharding to help with scalability issues. An interesting prove of believability consensus mechanism. The team looks like a bunch of academic all stars that could all find high paying jobs without this project, so it makes me feel like they must be in it for a good reason. Let me know your thoughts, I'm curious. I'm about to buy, so if anything seems really shitty please let me know.

Cheers
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOStoken (IOST) thoughts about this one? on: February 16, 2018, 03:20:39 PM
I was literally just going to make a post about this one and ask for feedback as well. From what I can see, it looks like a solid project. Their team certainly has the credentials to pull this off. But, like you, I'm eager to hear some other peoples' opinion on IOS token. It's sitting cheap right now around a few cents I believe which means there's room for growth, however, it's already in the top 100 so I wouldn't say extreme growth. But if the project is sound, which it seems to be, then we could be seeing a lot more from this one. Let's hear some thoughts on IOS token.

Cheers
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Bargains to scoop up on: February 11, 2018, 09:29:45 PM
Thanks for the response, as well as the recommendations. I've wanted into Neo for awhile now, but when it was dirt cheap during this dip I didn't have the cash to grab any, by the time I got some cash, Neo had already gone back up. Elixir is certainly one I'm interested in and I think I'll go over to kucoin and get at least a small amount to add to my portfolio. I know it's extremely low right now from its all time high.

Here is my major dilemma at the moment though and it's driving me absolutely crazy. Obviously everything is available at a great discount right now and that includes Cardano (ADA). I own a very small amount of cardano, but I bought it when it was 1.25 a coin, pretty much the top Sad I only have like 150 Cardano that I paid $200, but right now I could add to my cardano and get 300 more for like $108. That's very tempting

The other half of the dilemma is this, I can either get those 300 cardanos for the bargain of a lifetime - I'm assuming a price in this range will only be available for a short amount of time. But alas, I LOVE LOOPRING as well. Right now I can get loopring for around 65 cents per coin and not too long ago it was at an ATH just above $2.00.  I love the idea of loopring, making exchanges where trades are executed in the most profitable way for all parties involved. It's also been mentioned somewhere that when they are up and going, they will be working with neo.

So there you have it guys, I'd love some enigma and neo as the previous poster suggested and plan on getting them at some point when I have the money to pull it off. But for now, I'm stuck in my current dilemma os choosing between a discounted Cardano and a super discounted Loopring.  Loopring is appealing because I like what they're trying to do, and they have a smaller market cap and will be working with Neo. Cardano is appealing because it's a top 5 crypto which means that it'll provide a little more stability than something like loopring, however with loopring there is more room for profit growth due to lower market cap, with cardano there is left room for profit growth due to the high market cap (though it will still be profitable)  also an invesment in Cardano would give me a little more safety in protecting my investment.

Alright guys, crazy situation I'm in and I thought maybe you guys would have some feedback, experience, criticism, or trolling to offer and help put my fragile little mind at ease.

Cheers
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Best Bargains to scoop up on: February 11, 2018, 05:29:04 PM
Hello comrades,

It goes without saying that it's been an interesting few weeks in crypto. Unfortunately I'm not of the type who has spare cash laying around on the regular, and therefore I have largely missed out on this crytpcurrency buyers market. I know there are tons of threads like these, but it's a good way to discuss certain coins/crypto that is relevant to me - the OP and to many other members of the community - those who choose to post.

Anyway I've got about 500 to spend and am trying to decide if I should double down on the coins I already have, or if I should diversify even further and try some new projects. So what I'll do is I"ll list the coins that I currently own and am open to the idea of putting more in them. After that I will list a few new projects that I've come across, but am currently not holding any of them. If some of my list strikes you as sucky and stupid, please don't hesitate to tell me. I want to know the truth from objective crypto geniuses, so please help me. My feelings won't get hurt if I made a mistake or wreckless investment, I learn from my mistakes, so please help me find them.

Ok List I've got and could add more to:
*ETN
*ETH
*STRAT
*BNB
*BCH
*ELIX
*LRC
*ZEC
*OMG
*XRP
*SALT
*XLM
*WABI
*SUB
*EOS
*SC
*ICX
*ADA
*VEN
*GRS
*LRC

Ok, I know that's a lengthy list, but I wanted to be well diversified in projects that seem to have more going for them than just an idea. Here is a shorter list of companies that I have been keeping a passive eye on.

QTUM
NEO
GAS
LTC
ENG
NAS
Cindicator
Power Ledger
This last one I've been watching a lot too, and see hopeful potential. COLOSSUS Coin (COLX)

Alright guys, with all those considerations in mind - the coins I do own and the coins I'm looking to own, where do you think I should devote my investment and time into. If you have another project in mind that's not listed, please feel free to share it, but also please tell me why I should consider it by giving me relevant information on its strengths, goals, support, etc. Thanks a lot guys. I really got a good feeling for those of us who have stuck out this storm so far. The crypto gods will reward  the ones who believe in the technology (us)) and not the hype (everyone else). I look forward to the feedback hope the future is bright for us all.

Cheers

Hey man,

I've been seeing your crypto-doomsday posts, and obviously find it a bit disconcerting. However, you say crypto is dead, which doesn't seem realistic. I mean do you truly think ether and other cryptos that have utility are going to fall off the face of the earth? And how do you explain what will happen with blockchain? Are you truly of the belief that it is all going to crawl in a hole and never come out?

The reason I'm asking you is that your words thus far have been validated with your charts, however your claims become far fetched when you say these things will go extinct. I'm holding a fair amount of crypto right now, though it's about 75% lower than it was several weeks ago and at this point I've all but given up. I'd almost rather go down with the fucking ship and hold on to hope that someday after I forget about it, it will spontaneously recover and I'll find myself with a windfall. lol

Curious to hear your thoughts.

Cheers
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2018 Cryptocurrency Crash (Elliott Wave) on: February 01, 2018, 04:43:51 PM
Not quite what I'd hoped to see, but at the same time, I'd rather hear speculation that's based on some logic and evidence (as you provided) opposed to someone's intuition that things "have to get better". I guess it's encouraging to know this is "half-way" over, and also that the end of the world isn't here quite yet. Thanks for the insight man
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2018 Cryptocurrency Crash (Elliott Wave) on: January 31, 2018, 04:46:28 AM
Wtf, are you psychic or what? Does this last 24 hours of even more hellacious drops fit into your pattern? And ok crypto-whisperer, suppose a layman (myself) just saw your portentous posts today and has already lost his ass, is this shit about over at least for now? Will there be some good days in here to at least recoup some of what's been lost? Your theory and its evidence is very compelling, however, I obviously hope you're wrong. Give us some encouraging news now...  Oh, and are you predicting armageddon in the future and this is just part of the process, or is THIS right now Armageddon? Basically, for the HODLers will we see the sun again before the ultimate end of the world?

cheers

C'mon people, the money is just about to be available in my exchange account and I'm ready to pull the trigger on some new coins. I'd love to hear any comments or last minute advice before taking the plunge. How are people feeling on bitcoin in general? Do you think it's something I should invest 25-50% of my money in and HODL or should I be using all available money to maximize profits?

Cheers
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experiement: Digging myself out of debt by taking loans to invest in crypto... on: January 23, 2018, 02:04:23 AM
Alright everyone,

The student loans finally came in today. Seemed like forever I was waiting, but maybe that's just due to all the anticipation, especially right now because the market is offering up plenty of discounts on great coins. We are finally at the point where I'm ready to get my hands dirty and get my money working for me. I may have mentioned earlier, but I own pretty small positions in the following:

Siacoin
Electroneum
Ripple
Stellar
Cardano
Substratum
Zcash
Omisego
Stratis

Just to keep life simple, does anyone have any feedback or insights on the potential of those coins and their current price? I'm not betting my life on any of them or whatever I choose to add to my portfolio, but would still like to hear if anyone has any strong opinions in favor or against them. As for coins I'm looking to get into, I've had a few on my radar that I've been watching and they are:

Elixir - Seems to be a solid project with a small marketcap which leaves a lot of potential there
Loopring - A friend is a supporter of this coin and has been telling me to get in on it while I can.
Binance - Their exchange is popping right now and I feel like it'll continue to be peoples' go to exchange, so the coin should increase...
COLX- This is ranked lower than 300th in marketcap, meaning it's got a lot of room to grow IF it proves itself to be worthwhile

Finally, here are some coins I personally haven't looked into but have just heard so many people all excited about them and I guess I have a small fear of missing out in case they are good. They are Verge, Tron, and Raiblocks. I just haven't looked into them because I've heard about them SOO fucking much that I assumed I may have missed the boat on them.

Lots of shit to think about, but I really need everyone's help turning this $2000 borrowed investment into the roughly $45,000 I'll need to pay off my student loans. I am going to try to keep pumping money into the market while I'm finishing my final semester in school. To that end, I have decided to not treat myself to many of life's little luxuries that in the past I didn't hesitate to spend money on. I am not going to eat out, not going to go out and party, not going to buy new shoes, clothes, etc. I'm trying to look longterm and imagine the potential profits I can make on every dollar I can invest. I don't assume it's ok to spend $5 on a sandwich because I need to eat, I look at it as "I just deprived myself of 50 more electroneums." Really trying to focus on opportunity costs and just live simply and low-maintenance during this time of financial sacrifice. lol

Let's get ready for the fucking adventure. I'm super geeked to be starting this journey and keeping a journal of the progress in this post. It'll be great to share this ride with everyone and hopefully it'll feel like a team effort in the end. This is an experiment to see if one of the little guys can overcome the burden of paying back the man on his own terms. Most of society would resign themselves to the fact that in order to pay back a large debt like this they would have to toil for years as an indentured servant to their master. Here's to at least trying to be different. Smiley

Cheers
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Futures cause of drop? on: January 17, 2018, 05:32:00 AM
I think that the longer the timeline you use to reference progress in the market the better off you'll be, look at monthly trends rather than daily. I mean if you're long, why are you focused where you'll be in two weeks? I can't even say when I'm planning my out here, so if I don't know when I'm even getting out I can't really make any comparison as to whether my gains are satisfactory. I don't know how much they'll go up, we've gotten spoiled with 300% gains in a day or two, but in the stock market, people are doing well to secure 10% gains a year.

Getting 40% gain on the year would be a huge disappointment for most of us because we're salivating over the potential moonshots. Anyone who is financially savvy would call the opportunity to gain "only" 40% in a year a once in a lifetime one. Be content with longterm and sometimes dull progress, but also keep your eye on the market for the next big thing. 5 years from now, this will be an entirely different scene, we must be fluid and adaptable to minor doubts in the short term.

I feel like these are the days of the early internet. We're investing in the "intels" "IBM", "DELL", "Microsofts", etc. In crypto, BTC, ETH, etc., will probably form the foundation of the emerging industry and new innovations beyond our current comprehension will present themselves and we will be watching and waiting. I mean just the awareness of how fast innovation will come will help keep this in perspective for you. Look how far music downloads have come, or ordering shit online, or our smart phones. The brilliant minds behind that type of stuff will be getting behind crypto and coming up with amazing things. We're yet to see the biggest crypto in my opinion.

I'm not so much banking on any specific coin right now. I'm betting on the fact that the market cap of crypto will continue to grow as the technology becomes more accessible and practical. Perhaps the Facebook and Amazon of Crypto industry aren't even conceived yet. I guess just trying to look at the big picture helps to keep this shit in perspective. I'm risking money that I'm willing to lose, but the hopes of big gains corrupt the detached, and analytical mindset that I feel is crucial to success. It's a struggle, but I try to be objective.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Futures cause of drop? on: January 17, 2018, 04:28:08 AM
Thanks man. I liked the video too. Hopefully we'll see a sign after the futures stuff is up tomorrow, and people come to the realization that no matter what any specific country does in the short term, it will not stop the long term evolution and adoption of crypto. There will surely be road bumps, but there is with everything. If you really believe in crypto, you're focused on the innovation and progress rather than share prices at some isolated moment in time.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Bitcoin Futures cause of drop? on: January 17, 2018, 03:37:37 AM
Obviously we're witnessing a pull-back/correction whatever, does anyone have any opinions as to how big of a factor these bitcoin shorts that expire tomorrow afternoon are playing? Or do you think the Korean/Chinese dilemma is the cause? Just trying to put things in perspective. Great buying opportunities though. I fully believe in crypto-long, but I'm curious as to causes of shorter fluctuations like this.

Cheers

This sounds like a great idea, though the team for some reason doesn't seem to be completely on their game. White paper is a bit sloppy grammar-wise (especially with that funding) and the fact that they're banning dissenters from Telegram is clearly juvenile and sordid business practice. If this team and coin doesn't get it done, maybe someone else can learn from their correctable errors this far and do it right. I'll definitely be watching it, though not investing until it seems a bit more aboveboard.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: your altcoin experience? on: January 14, 2018, 11:31:49 PM
Comrades,

I've got a decent array of altcoins in my arsenal at the moment. Starting off, I've got Ether, Stratis, Electroneum, and Bitcash as my biggest holdings. Following those I've got small holdings in Ripple, Omisego, Zcoin, Substratum, Stellar, Siacoin, Icon, Cardano, and Groestlcoin. They've all had their good and bad moves. Right now I'm HODLing all of my Crypto, though as I've seen some profits disappear and regret that I didn't take profits and reinvest elsewhere.

Does anyone have some feedback on these coins? What are your opinions on HODLing vs. actively trading, taking profits, and reinvesting?

Cheers
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / COLX a good bet for big gains...? on: January 14, 2018, 11:20:13 PM
Greetings everyone,

I don't know much about Colossuscoinxt. but I have been watching it over the last few weeks. It's been moving around like crazy, up like 50% today and up over 200% since January 2. I read the info on the website and the project seems to have some decent value behind it if it gets off. At first glance, it seems like a coin that is focused on the job at hand, rather than selling their idea to the masses, which is actually comforting to me. Market Cap is under 50 mil and it seems to have a bit of momentum behind it. Think I'm gonna buy big into this one and watch it boom. lol

Does anyone have any confirmation on the legitimacy of this project. I'd love to see a little guy make some ground in the market.

Cheers

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experiement: Digging myself out of debt by taking loans to invest in crypto... on: January 09, 2018, 08:05:57 PM
What's up everyone, I see this got buried like 7 pages back because I had started working on the post a few days ago and didn't actually post until late last night. Anyway, I have been advised by a friend to start looking into the Chinese cryptos, under the assertion that restrictions in China may be lifted soon. This certainly doesn't sound like a bad idea in my estimate. Also, I've been hearing a lot about NEO - so much that I thought it was probably too late to get in ahead of the curve. Any thoughts on that one?

Also, a friend has been sending me screenshots of his investments in LRC and he seems to be KILLING it with that one. That is definitely another I'll be watching closely and hoping the timing of my money arrival coincides with a potential dip in cost for that coin. Also, I am a small holder of SUB - substratum and see it dropped 50% today, though I'm assuming it was because of the hacking attack of medium that they posted about briefly on their Twitter.

Look forward to your feedback.

Cheers
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experiement: Digging myself out of debt by taking loans to invest in crypto... on: January 08, 2018, 11:19:32 PM
Hey guys,

Been a bit busy for the past few days, but am trying to get back on my crypto-game. I'm still awaiting the aforementioned funds to arrive, but I have been keeping an eye on the prices of a few coins. I still have quite a bit more digging and learning to do, first in finding potential winners, then doing some beginner fundamental and technical analysis.

First, does anyone have any coins that they'd like to share, or any new projects that seem promising. I rely heavily on the community to get the initial info on what will hopefully be good investments. So here is what I've been looking at as of lately:

SC- Siacoin
ETN- Electroneum
SALT
XSPC- Spectrecoin
ENG- Enigma

Ok guys, any feedback you can give me on the above would be great. What do you think good entry point/price would be? What are your general opinions of the coins above? Criticism is very welcome, as these are not personal concerns, just financial, so any insight you can provide will be very helpful, whether it be negative or positive.

Secondly, are there any coins you guys have in mind that are not listed above? The goal is to take 2k and attempt to turn it into 40k within a year. Obviously, this is a lofty goal, but I'd be happy to make a dent in this debt regardless. Please let me know if there are any coins out there right now that are undervalued or likely to pop in the near future. Looking for stuff that has been building strong base or is on temporary downtrend which would give me a good opportunity to buy at a bargain. I look forward to your feedback and will hopefully find some winning investments for this little financial adventure.

cheers
