1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 2.6: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Windows) on: February 25, 2018, 01:49:13 AM
Hi All,

I recently updated to 2.7a. Prior to this update i had quite the stable rig, that required very little attention. Now it seems its quite the opposite. The latest mystery. I have a 5 x RX 580 rig / win 10 / Corsair HX750i & 1200W server PSU / 4gb / 16 Vram.

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
PhoenixMiner.exe -pool asia1.ethermine.org:4444 -pool2 asia1.ethermine.org:14444 -ewal xxx.xxx -pass x -minspeed 147 -rmode 2 -mi 11 -coin eth -ptimeout 20

It had been hashing for 24 hours, when one of the GPU's for a minute went from 30 to 23. This then triggered the minspeed alert and reboot.

For the next 4 hours (while i was asleep) the computer kept rebooting as the DAG file couldn't be allocated/generated. Here is the first time stamp/log file.

All of a sudden at 8.10 after about 20+ reboots (same as above) it suddenly starts allocating/generating DAG file.

Any ideas why this might be the case, or is the 7a release a bit buggy compared to earlier versions ?

Many thanks.

My rig had the same issues as well.

Has yours corrected itself yet ?

I don’t think ram will ever be an issue with mining.

Can you open task manager and check if disk is at 100% all the time?

And are you mining on the cpu as well?

Just opened task manager, and the disk is 0-1%, CPU is 55%, and RAM was 2.2 out of 4.

The problem has gone for now, but i haven't added the other 4 GPU's yet.

I just checked for errors, and 1 card had 20,000 errors since 10 hours. Power went off 10 hours ago. The other 7 had 0,0,0,3,2,516,640.

I do plan to remove claymore and the command lines mclock, cclock, cvddc, mvddc, etc, and use OverdriveNtool with Phoenix miner.

Although, when the power went off earlier, only the first 6 cards were being used by Claymore and not the latest 2. Used remote restart via TeamViewer and still the same result. It wasn't until i got home and did a full shut down and turn on, that it picked up the 8 again. Any ideas ??

BTW, Just changed my second rig from claymore to OverdriveNtool with phoenix miner today and so far no errors, slightly better Mh's, slightly lower Watt at the wall meter. So happy about that.

you want to install 8 gpu with only 4 gb of ram ? wtf
you didn't mention if you plug hdmi in motherboard or in gpu ?
first thing to do: check if you have any problem in safe mode. if no problem in safe mode then it means its driver problem, in this case use ddu then install fresh copy of driver and you shouldn't have any problem

I was wondering the same with the 4gb of RAM. I have read quite a few posts, where 4gb does 12 GPU's, so this was my first stop. But i knew it couldn't be the RAM as when i added another 4gb the problem still existed.

Anyway, i managed to overcome it. I added one by one, increased the Virtual Memory to 24000. And so far it has run for 12 hours no problem at all with 4gb.

I did find a slightly loose 8 PIN connection on one of the GPU's. So maybe that was the reason ?

Still using the block chain driver too.

Will report back once i add the other 4.

is windows 10 is new version? manytimes blockchain driver is not working good with new win10 os. try new driver 18.2.1. it will help u.i have same problem when i installed new driver it solved.

I am using Windows 10 Version 1709.

I downloaded the Adrenaline drivers, but i haven't used them. Just the Blockchain version. I will do a DDU then try with adrenaline.

Many thanks

do you use msi afterburner with this setup?

it polls all the gpus and the cpu every 1000 microseconds  same as 1 time each second

6 cards and a cpu  is a lot of data   60 times per minute

set the poll speed to 11000  it will help.

go to settings
click monitoring

set from  1000 to 11000

Any undervaluing / overclocking is done via Claymore. I dont use MSI AB.

Hi Guys,

Have a frustrating problem, which I think I understand the cause of, but cant figure out how to fix it.

Biostar 250 BTC Pro (12 GPU slots)
6 MSI RX 580 8gb
4gb Ram 2133
Celeron 3900
Claymore 10.5
Virtual Memory setting 16384
Windows 10 x64 Pro
AMD Blockchain Driver

I have just received another 6 Gigabyte RX 580 8gb Gaming GPU’s and tried to add 2 GPU’s to the 6 GPU’s and see how problematic this would be before trying to add the full amount of the 6 GPU’s to the one rig.

Order of events.

1. Device Manager saw the 8 – Great.
2. Windows installed automatically the Block Chain Driver. – PATCHED - REBOOT
3. Claymore saw the 8 – Great.
4. Claymore got random GPU “dag creation” errors. - FIXED the error, as I saw a post stating to increase Virtual Memory to 64000. – REBOOT
5. NOTICED THE PROBLEM. Windows takes 15 seconds to open any folder / AMD Radeaon App / Windows Setting / Start Menu wont open. - REBOOT
6. Problem still there. Open Claymore and get 20-22 MHS on the 2 Cards (30.8 on the other 6). Remembered to modd the GPU’s with at least the timing straps @ 1500– did it. But cant flash it – Cant open the CMD with administration rights due to not having access via start menu.
7. Stopped my other rig, and removed a 4gb stick of 2133 ram to add into this rig.
8. Display Menu is now working fine. Flash the Bios. Patcher says nothing to patch. – Reboot.
9. Claymore now getting 30.5-30.8 Mhs with all 8. – YAHOO.
10. Leave it for 30 mins to watch the Miner, now the PROBLEM has come back. All menus / setting menu’s take FOREVER to open up. Could be 2 minutes with several attempts.
11. Tried changing the Virtual Memory but no setting with reboot solves this problem.
12. Removed the two GPU’s, took out the 2nd 4gb RAM and took the Virtual Memory back to 16384 - Rebooted and the problem has now gone.

Allot of miners have success with 10-12 GPU rigs with 4gb. And the problem exists if I have 8gb in the rig, then maybe its not the physical RAM, even though the problem momentarily went away when i added the additional 4gb.

Any ideas ?

Hi Deadsix,

I'm wondering if i could call on your knowledge once again.

Do you think it's possible to power a headless rig; 1x RX580 GPU, 1x Mobo/CPU/Ram/SSD, 1x Ver. 8s Riser by a Gold Standard 650W PSU. There are two local options for the 650W PSU in Superflower and Antec. Antec is about $30 cheaper than the Superflower.

Im thinking 250W for combined (SSD,Mobo,CPU,RAM) and 150-170W for GPU/Riser ? = 400-420W. Which is approx 64% of the 650W load of the PSU.

This should be more than ok, right ?

The other GPU's and risers are powered by a Server PSU.

I run several 4 x RX 570 rigs on 750W Gold PSU's, so 650w is more than enough for your need. Superflower makes some very good PSUs, and Antec is decent in the gold and above category so either of them will be suitable.

You are the best ! thank you.

PROBLEM: Setting up the first 6 GPU’s with risers, I used all the molex cables and was left with only some 6 PIN to 4xSATA cables. So, when it came to powering the two 4 PIN AUXPWR ports on the Mobo, all I could use was a single 6 PIN to 4xSATA cable then use SATA to molex adapters to plug into each of the two AUXPWR ports.
On a scale of severity, how bad is that?
Those adapters always feel cool though.
Using Sata cables with the sata-molex adapters to power the motherboard is perfectly safe, the motherboard doesent use any power from them if you are using powered GPU risers, which in your case you are. You dont need to have those AUXPWR ports plugged in at all.
Quote
If I can find a website/service to make some more molex cables for me that work with this particular PSU, is it still possible to use one single cable to power both AUXPWR ports?
Last question, there is allot of warnings about Molex to SATA adapters and to not use them with risers. Does that go for SATA to Molex as well, or all adapters that are sold ? i have a splitter; 8 PIN female that splits to 2x6+2. Are these a risk as well?
Sata to molex adapters should be avoided for powering risers (can be used with nvidia cards, not with amd). If you only have sata cables, and need to power risers, then buy the sata power type risers.
As for the 8pin-2x6 splitters, those are pretty safe always.

Thank you so much for this. I will lose both those SATA to Molex adapters and either buy some of those 8s risers which have SATA, Molex and 6 Pin connectors. Then decide to either go with the SATA connection or use the Splitter and the 6 PIN connection.

Many thanks again.

There is so much great info on this thread. I have tried searching for some answers but I have come up empty handed.

My setup;

6 x MSI RX 580 8gb.
Biostar 250 BTC PRO
Version 6/7 Riser (Only Molex Connection).
Gigabyte 1200XP – don’t give enough cables and don’t sell individual cables.

I am about to introduce another 6 GPU’s to this setup with another PSU.

As the poster above mentioned, I am too finding that 2.5d is providing for more stale shares than 2.4. But will leave it go for a little longer.

To the dev's, are any of the cclock/mclock/cvddc/mvddc/tt command line options being tabled for inclusion in later releases ?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Motherboard and PSU questions. Any help would be so welcome. on: January 02, 2018, 11:54:11 AM
Hi All,

First off, i have tried looking on youtube for answers, and I am waiting on a reply from Biostar, but none has been forthcoming thus far. So i am turning to this forum for some help. Also, the user manuals and the websites don't give enough information.

This is my first build, and looking at MOBO reviews decided to go with the Biostar TB250-BTC PRO motherboard. As I live in South East Asia, stocks of 1200 W PSU's are quite hard to find and troublesome to order overseas for delivery.  As such, the was only one available PSU which was the Gigabyte XP1200M. The information found on the Biostar website for 6 GPU's (RX580's) was for the minimum of 1x1200W. There was no information of required connections on the PSU.

Here are the links to the hardware mentioned above;

MOBO:http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/kr/event/crypto_mining/page4_2.htm
PSU: https://www.gigabyte.com/Power-Supply/XP1200M#kf
The link for the PSU has a good photo of the back of the PSU.

I haven't connected anything yet, as when i unboxed the PSU and was looking at the connections on the back, and the number of connections i believe the motherboard needs, there seems to be not enough. But i would love to be proved wrong.

The physical connections on the PSU are as follows;

ATX/MB 20+4 Pin x 1
CPU/EPS 4+4 Pin x 2
PCI-e 6+2 Pin x 4
SATA x 4

The cables that come with it (which there are many), have multiple connections per cable.

Power.
According to the Biostar website, i require at least 4 power connections a 24 pin, 8 pin and 4 Pin (x2). Even for running only 6 GPU's.

Question 1. Does the 8 Pin MOBO power connect from CPU/EPS 4+4 connection on the PSU.
Question 2. For the 4 pin (x2) MOBO power requirement, does that come from the 6 pin SATA connection. The only cable (boxed with the PSU) with a 4 pin connector is the SATA cable. There are 2 SATA cables that have 4 x 4 Pin connectors on each cable, essentially giving 8 connections over 2 cables.
Question 3. Further to question 2, do you think i can daisy chain the two 4 pin power requirement on 1 SATA cable.

Risers.
Question 4. As i have 6 Riser cards, the least i can use is 3 SATA connectors on the PSU. As according to the Biostar website, i can run no more than 2 risers on one SATA cable. Is there another way? or is this quite acceptable.
Question 5. To power the GPU's from the PCIE connectors on the PSU, can i also daisy chain 2 on one cable. There are 2 PCIE cables included with the PSU, that each have 2x 6+2 connections. Which means if i can use them in this fashion, i would have to purchase one more.
Question 6. I purchased a SATA SSD, so can i place it on the same SATA cable as the 2 risers, and not create a problem.

If this crypto mining designed mother board has such a power requirement (even for 6 GPU's) could there be an adjustment on how the GPU's are powered ? otherwise what use would this provide.

Sorry for the length of this post. Just eager to get into this.
