1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Rally Analysis on: November 07, 2015, 11:02:50 AM
Let's sum up something:
we were at 236$ on October 5th and then an upward movement started. A slow but steady one.
We reached 300$ on October 23rd and that is where "big" players started playing. And then...well you all know we had a pump up to 500$
Then we reached the bottom of 351$ during the recent dump and now we're battling to reach 400$ again.
My question is whether we are going to hit 400$ soon or not. Or we will be going up and down in the range between 350/400$

I think we'll hit $400 in a few hours. Hopefully it'll creap up slowly then on.

how can this be automated? say with bitstamp?

I'd throw a lot more money into bitcoin if I could be rest assured I could go to bed and not wake up in the morning having lost all my money because China has caused a massive crash....
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: SHOTRING BITCOIN: This is a good idea right now on: January 17, 2014, 03:24:25 PM
How do you go about shotring practically? I invested back in April, ended up hodling and broke even after the crash, hedl onto my coins until a few weeks ago. Then withdrew my initial investment plus a bit of profit into my bank account and have a nice amount of fiat sat in bitstamp waiting to buy again. So the only money I'm now playing with is profit.

My plan was to wait until after the Chinese New Year and invest again if Bitcoin starts to steadily rise again.
10  Economy / Speculation / China is still buying the most on: January 06, 2014, 07:56:52 AM
I left fiatleak.com running over night, I'm from the UK and it looks like China is buying three times the volume of BTC that any other country despite 31st Jan looming. Surely I'm missing something here...

Love or hate Facebook - its pretty good exposure.....
13  Economy / Economics / Re: How to MASTER bitcoin trading on: December 07, 2013, 01:19:46 PM
I find the problem with paper wallets is that it can sometimes take up to an hour to get your coins back into an exchange and given the volatility of the market that hour could be very very costly for you. I think maybe its best to keep your coins in a variety of exchanges so that if bad news happens then you can quickly sell and buy again at a cheaper price.

Yesterday I read on reddit that Badu had stopped taking bitcoins as a payment method, this and the other news from china recently - i thought was bound to cause a crash so before the Chinese woke up I sold all my coins, left the money in bitstamp and this morning bought again gaining 16 extra coins.

When bad news happens you have to act fast to make money, or alternatively play the long game and hope.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: sell trigger for my bitcoins on: November 11, 2013, 04:03:59 PM
Sure stick a sign on your forehead saying "please legally rob me" too.

That stop order is visible on the order book and traders use times of low liquidity to go stop hunting.

If there was a flash crash it would probably sell out at well below the price you set anyway.

 Wink

I'll probably still be better off doing that than doing nothing...

Is there a way of setting this up, technically? Even if I sell out well below the price I set at least I've sold and don't wake up to practically nothing.

I bought at $84, its going to be $400 soon, if I set a trigger at say $300 then even if it sells well below that I'm probably still going to be in the black.

set up an orderbook?

Can this be done within bitstamp?
16  Other / Beginners & Help / sell trigger for my bitcoins on: November 11, 2013, 03:11:13 PM
Hey all, instead of having sleepless nights and waking up to all my gains gone I was wondering if there is a way of (in either mtgox or bitstamp) setting a sell trigger for my bitcoins?

Say for instance I go to bed tonight and the price of bitcoins goes below $250 then it runs a macro to sell x amount of coins.

I was lucky to be awake during the last crash so escaped - but with China involved this time and me being from the UK there is a high chance it'll all happen when I'm asleep.

Thanks!
