Just wondering what the market is now. They used to go for a premium above 1 BTC, like 1.25, for example. I haven't been following lately, but I wonder how the market is presently and whether there is even a market given the risk associated with trying to sell a +$100k asset to a stranger. Are there reliable escrow services, for example? Seems like peeling and selling the redeemed coin might be the only way.

As the title states, I need to sell a physical coin ASAP, but I have no idea how to begin to do so safely. I am wanting to get fiat/cash/USD for it. Is it possible to sell via bank transfer? Is that safe? I have paypal, but I know how easy it is for scammers to reverse paypal payments. Are bank transfers safer? What about specific banks. Does anyone know if Key bank is bitcoin friendly? Would they even know the money was from a bitcoin sale? Would the amount of the transfer cause any problems because it is so large? Would it just be better to try to find someone local and trade case for it? How do I know their cash is not counterfeit? How would I even make an in person trade like that safely? And how would I even go about finding someone local? I tried signing up for localbitcoins, but is seems I cannot create an account because of my location(Ohio). And even if I could, It seems like they don't have a way to list physical coins. Sorry for all the questions, but I am getting desperate, and this just seems like it is impossible to do, and do safely without getting killed, or scammed. I really don't want to peel this to redeem the BTC. I think that would be a shame since the amount of these that are unpeel goes down every day. It would make me feel like I was destroying a painting. I also don't really want to sell it for BTC because I don't have a wallet of any kind. Never have. I am super intimidated after reading all the stories about people making a simple mistake, and then "POOF", all their money is gone. I don't want that to be me, and I really need to make sure I have these funds, and soon. Any and all help would be seriously appreciated! Sorry again for rambling.
Sounds archaic, but try Craigslist local. And meet at a police station for transfer. Get a cashiers check. Good luck with your sale. I would NEVER accept a cashier's check. They are paper and can be counterfeited. I sold a car back in 1998 and got two fake checks. Looked 100 percent legit. Watermark and everything. Someone was able to steal legit paper and started printing checks. |

Thanks for the replies... I guess I'll just keep an eye on eBay and see they keep listing more and more magazines. I agree that 30 isn't unbelievable, but that's all they've apparently sold so far. If I check back in a month and there are 50, then I'll start to think something is up.

So I bought one on eBay and now I'm second guessing myself because the seller seems to have a suspiciously large supply. If you search for completed items, you will see they have apparently sold over 30 copies, going back to October of last year. It just seems weird that someone would have 30 copies to sell. Not sure how hard it would be to counterfeit a magazine though. The sell has been registered on eBay since 2003 and has other books/ magazines for sale and a 100 percent positive feedback rating. I did message the seller after I purchased and asked how they came to own so many copies and the response was they aquired them when the magazine was first launched and are selling them due to financial issues. I have an old multibit.key file that I'm trying to import into Electrum. The text file has +'s and ='s, which I understand means it was encrypted by Multibit, thus I cannot just import it into Electrum without unencrypting it first. How can I do that? I understand that if I download Multibit Classic, I can use that, but I can't find it anywhere reliable. Can it be downloaded here? https://github.com/Multibit-Legacy/multibit If so, how do I download it for Windows? Alternatively, is there a way to unencrypt it without using Multibit Classic? Thanks. |

Thanks for the responses... Any idea what it would get at auction? I'm having trouble finding any recent examples to go from and with the wild price fluctuations, I don't want to look too far back because I don't think those would be indicative if the price is delineated in BTC.

Thanks for that. Should I wait until my transaction gets dropped by the network before importing my private keys and trying to resend the transaction?
Also, how will I know when the transaction gets dropped?

Multibit is no longer supported. I cannot change the tx fees, and the standard fees are way too low, given the current state of the network. Is there another software or online wallet I can use to import my private key and send from that wallet? I tried to send a few days ago, but it's not showing up on either blockchain.info or blockexplorer.com. It is only showing up in my Multibit wallet.
Also, since there is a pending, unconfirmed transaction from my Multibit wallet, will that screw anything up if I import my key to another wallet while that is still pending?

It definitely looks like a rebadged or a knock off Sorcerer PSU. I ordered it so we'll see. It's definitely 240v only. I'm in the process of installing a 240v receptacle in my garage.

Since NiceHash got hacked, I'm looking for a similar pool where I can use my GPUs to mine altcoins and get paid in BTC. Zpool seems to be a good fit, but I can't figure out how to mine. Specifically, I don't know what mining software to use.

I have two Rx470s that I've been using to mine on NiceHash. I've been getting about $150 in BTC per month... not huge, but profitable. Nicehash is now down due to the hack and I seriously doubt they'll be back. Any suggestion similar pools? I'm looking for something that will auto-switch alt-coins and pay out in BTC.

I keep mine in a safe at a friends company (they are staffed 24/7). I would not use a safe deposit box because they have been raided over the years (google it). Your best bet is a small fireproof safe that is well hidden at your house or at a family members. I sort of do the same thing for my offline coins...I can not access them without driving to multiple locations.
I have read about boxes being raided and even though it has happened, it's still extremely rare [knocks on wood]. |

One thing I read online about at-home safes is that a potential robber could just force you to open it if you are home. That's one reason it's better to store them off-site. I guess my choices would be either a safe deposit box or a really good hiding place at your house. I think well-hidden is probably better than in a safe if you store them at home.

With safes, fire proof ones are fairly cheap (less than 500 usd). What you need to look at are the burglary ratings - you want UL TL-15 or higher. These are where it gets expensive, but worth it if you have a valuable collection. Table below shows ratings and recommend values for each level of security.
