1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Win upto $200 in free Dogecoins every hour! on: July 29, 2014, 01:32:06 PM
Good initiative. Services like these serve as a nice introduction to cryptocurrencies.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Primecoin Record Books on: April 07, 2014, 03:46:43 AM
CDN (Canadian Digital Notes) has nothing to do with prime numbers.

See http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/digitalisassets.html

It has been around for years, since back when GRoUPcoin and DeVCoin were new.

-MarkM-

In this context, CDN refers to CDNcoin. An official currency symbol is not the only thing that coin is missing.

Bernankoin would be an interesting inclusion.

Looks very much like PokerByProxy, which turned out to be a scam. They also paid very well in the beginning.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: namecoin faucet? on: February 26, 2014, 05:00:18 PM
Yes, there is a faucet for NMC

http://www.thebitcoinmaster.com/namecoin/index.php

And also, i got scammed by the people at bitcominers, so if anyone has some coins to spare iŽl be the happiest man alive...
My whole year just down the toilet.

thebitcoinmaster.com is a good working faucet.  I have tried it and it works well.

It works, but the pay is really bad. It is probably a better idea to find a faucet for another coin and then simply buy some namecoins.

Ok .  I will start buying some bitcoins or other alt-coins but which is the safest and most profitable place where I could buy ? I saw that mxgot has disappeared.  I will look into the trading part of the coins .

Depends on several factors and where you live etc. just use cryptsy or btc-e. you can use bittylicious if you're in the uk.

Agreed, go to BTC-e for volumes and Cryptsy for niche coins.

What do you think about Litecoin , Peercoin or Doge ? Will they have a chance to get close to the Bitcoin value in the future ?

Why isn't it worthy to invest in scrypt mining ?

My personal guess is that Litecoin has peaked; it offers no real improvement over Bitcoin, unlike several other altcoins. Peercoin will most likely overtake Litecoin, but it will take some time. Dogecoin is a wildcard. Note that long-term investing is very different from short-term trading. In an extremely volatile market like cryptocurrencies, I would recommend short-term trading, since it is quite difficult to correctly predict the future.

Mining scrypt-based coins is probably more profitable than mining SHA-256-based coins like Bitcoin or mining CPU-only coins like Primecoin. Mining is designed in such a way that early adopters are rewarded, so watch out for new coins with potential!

what about nxt coin?  you don't need any GPU's to collect fees, just a lot of nxt but I don't think 300$ will get you a whole lot of nxt maybe just around 5000 (not sure exactly but you would probably need a lot more nxt in order to make it worth it for you.

I would personally recommend Peercoin for a safe long-term investment in the proof-of-stake concept. There is a significant risk of Nextcoin being a temporary fad, while Peercoin has always been the third largest by market cap.

Namecoin could have a meaningful role in the cryptocurrency world, but has not the developer abandoned it?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what should i invest in on: February 26, 2014, 01:42:46 AM
Trading is probably a better way to earn coins than mining, but you need to get some coins before you begin. If you dislike trading or need a new graphics card anyway, then mining may be a better option.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitscoins dead with this Mt. Goth Scandal? on: February 26, 2014, 01:36:02 AM
Is Bitscoin another altcoin? I must admit that the name has some potential.

How much do you want? I do not accept PayPal, by the way.

Do you have any plans to add the pair XPM/USD? The PPC volume increased significantly when you added the pair PPC/USD.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Want to Make Your Own CryptoCurrency? Starting at Just 0.09 BTC. on: February 26, 2014, 12:58:37 AM
Which proof-of-work systems do you support? In order to create a meaningful clone, some parameters should be different. Little programming experience is enough to do a good scrypt clone, while a deeper understanding of number theory is required to make a good Primecoin clone (unless you have other ideas like Datacoin's data storage and Bernankoin's printing model).
16  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC-E Experience on: February 25, 2014, 11:58:14 PM
Do not use an unsecure operating system when dealing with money. I hope this experience will be a valuable lesson for the future. Any man can make mistakes, but only an idiot persists in his error.

I use windows on a day to day basis for business.  Is a clean linux virtual machine with a firewall as good as a dedicated mac or linux laptop?

For offline wallets, it is generally recommended to create a completely isolated working environment by booting a distribution of you choice from a liveCD. However, a clean virtual machine should suffice for online trading.
17  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Official Money Lost in Mt. GOX Thread on: February 25, 2014, 11:36:29 PM
The only thing I lost from this was reputation as a Bitcoin investor, but I believe the advantages of cryptocurrencies will make up for their current shortcomings, most of which can be solved in the future. The lack of reliable exchanges is a serious problem, but I think the situation is improving in this regard.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Building Pump & Dump Group on: February 22, 2014, 09:52:58 PM
I am been day trading since I only had like BTC0.01 and now I have over BTC0.20. I am building a day trading group where we will pick a cryptocurrency, pump it up, and then dump it for profit. My job as the creator will be to make sure everybody in the group makes money from the pump and dump. I will take a vote each week (or day) on which coin to pump and dump.

If you want to join this group sign up at Pump & Dump Profits

I like the idea of creating an open group for this purpose, and it will be interesting to see the outcome of this effort; I may even join this group for fun. However, new participants should be aware that any trading involves a substantial risk of loss.
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you really think the bottom of bitcoin price after MTGOX is down? on: February 20, 2014, 08:30:58 PM
Just imagine what a massive, never seen before crash we will have when all the cheap goxcoins get dumped on the other exchanges.
We may just see single digits again within a week.
So what makes you so sure that these mysterious "goxcoins" even exist?
They do exist, but not in the users' hands. It is possible that the MtGox team is already dumping the coins on other exchanges.
20  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox website down. Watch them disappear! on: February 20, 2014, 08:20:53 PM
What's the fastest way to deposit fiat on Gox now?

How fast is OK-Pay?

(Yes, I'm aware of the risks.)

It is possible that the price has been manipulated in order to attract new money to the exchange. I hope you really are aware of the risks.
