I think its only a matter of time.

The untapped potential of the Bitcoin protocol is staggering!

Almost all great ideas were initially ridiculed and violently opposed by the masses before eventually becoming widely accepted and commonplace.

Litecoin and all other altcoins are a good thing. The whole idea of creating a decentralized crypto-currency is to introduce competition to fiat/government currency. So IMO it would be hypocritical to celebrate the Bitcoin for challenging existing currency while simultaneously bashing altcoins for challenging Bitcoin.

Also, I feel that the issues of security, inflation and speed of transfer are basically unimportant in the grand scheme of things because using crypto-currency is entirely voluntary. No person or group of people is claiming the authority to FORCE anyone to use any specific coin. Therefore, if one is not satisfied with the fundamental characteristics of any coin or class of coin, they can simply refuse to use it. This is not true with the current monetary system which certainly is forced upon us by a central authority through legal tender laws and the like.

Having said that, time will allow the market's preference to weed out the less desirable coins and to gravitate toward the ones it values. We will likely see advancements in the future that could make our current perception of digital money seem weak by comparison. The coin that overtakes Bitcoin my not be dreamed up for many years, or never dreamed up at all, or maybe people will refuse to change and will instead cling to worthless pieces of paper that are created out of thin air by a group of tyrannical psychopaths.

The point is, it's important to have a choice! =)

Great post! Also I like the name "Bitarchist". I might start describing my political position like that, to confuse everybody even more Cheesy

Thanks! I also thought it was good! =)

4  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Trouble using Stratum Proxy.... on: November 29, 2013, 06:08:50 AM
Unfortunately it did not work. Same issue as before, starts off looking fine, BFGMiner starts ok, restart blade with proper config, acts likes its gonna work... Then at 2 min. it resets.
I tried BTCGuild and Slush's pool. I even tried multiple blades and ports. no matter what i do its the same result.
I know its not the blade because they hash just fine when pointed at the stratum proxy in the cloud.
I've been dealing with this for over 3 days now. Am I missing something here? I feel like a total idiot at this point.

How long have you let it go? I had a hell of a time getting my Blade working through any Stratum proxy. Worked fine if I pointed it directly at a pool via GetWork. Then I let it go overnight pointed at a Stratum proxy and it was fine by morning. I've read other such posts as well. Worth mentioning.

Thanks for the suggestion, thats good to know, i will let it run when i go to sleep tonight.

Although I have let it go for quite some time... problem is it keeps resetting every 2 min. so it never has a chance to get up to speed.

I also had no problem connecting to Eliguis pool using getwork, works just fine other than the fact that its super slow and hashes at like 20%.

Here is a screenshot of the same problem using BFGMiner:

Sure, run bfgminer as such:

Code:
bfgminer --http-port 8332 -o some.pool.com -u user.worker -p password

Then configure your Blade and point it at the IP address of the machine where bfgminer is running. That should be it.

Thanks for your reply!

6  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Trouble using Stratum Proxy.... on: November 29, 2013, 04:52:04 AM
I'm hoping someone can give me a quick solution here.

I'm trying to connect to slush's pool (or any pool at this point) using the stratum proxy running on one of my PCs.
I run the SP, restart my blade which points to the IP of the machine running SP and everything seems ok.
but no matter what I do I cannot get it to stay connected for more than 2 min. 20 sec. after that the blade resets and disconnects from the pool.
I did find a temporary solution which is to point my blade at a cloud-based stratum proxy which works great and nothing resets.
I would be content with that other than the fact that now my blades run at only 50% hash rate.
I'm not sure if this is because im using a cloud-based SP or not but i would like to find out.

I also tried very many times to run either BFGMiner or CGMiner with zero success.
I read and follow the instructions very carefully and still cannot make it work.

I just want to get these blades hashing at full capacity! =)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Would any experienced miners care to help me out?
7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Free cloud-based stratum proxy for Slush & BTCGuild (beta) on: November 29, 2013, 02:24:35 AM
Thanks, this is awesome!

I'm glad i found this because I've been having trouble running Stratum Proxy on my PC...

However, after about an hour of mining at 2 different pools I have only achieved about 50% hash rate.

Is that normal for using the cloud-based proxy? is it something i can fix on my end?

Thanks again!
8  Bitcoin / Mining support / What am I doing Wrong? on: November 28, 2013, 09:46:58 PM
I need help figuring out how to get my blades mining using BFGMiner or CGMiner... Stratum Proxy will not run on my PC....

Right now I am mining Eligius Pool with my blade connected to getwork... very low hash rate...

Every attempt I make to connect using one of the above mentioned miners is a failure...

I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but it is very frustrating and everyone else seem to figure it out pretty quickly.

I just want to maximize the potential of my blades so any suggestions on how to connect to any mining pool using any software would be appreciated.

Thanks!

9  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Block Erupter Blade keeps resetting at around 2 min. on: November 28, 2013, 08:47:13 PM
If you have a pool that still has active getwork nodes, just punch that in as the server address. Low efficiency or low hashrate is expected here, because of the delays from getwork. When you say mining on slush's pool before the first reset, was that via stratum proxy or directly connected to the pool's getwork server?

Did you hit "switch server" during the reset? I did a test on one of mine earlier, and changed the server address to an unused IP on my network. The blade reset every 2:20 as expected, but even after changing the server IP back to proper it still was resetting until I hit "Switch Server" which I guess woke it up and got it spooling properly. Don't know if that affects you or not.

Thanks again for your help!

I took your advise and connected to a pool using getwork and now my blades are hashing! Great success!
However, just like you said, really low hash rate, like 22%.

Now that i know the blades are not defective i need to figure out why they kept resetting even while connected to slush's using stratum proxy.

I just want to maximize the potential of these blades ASAP, I feel like time is of the essence here!

Any and all advise is welcomed!

I was on slush's pool via stratum proxy, only running at like 9% efficiency and then reset at 2 min 20 sec it resets. I will try hitting switch server.

Thanks.

You set the server addresses and ports to the IP your stratum proxy is running on?
You made sure the stratum proxy computer and the blade are in the same subnet?
You made sure the blade's Gateway is the gateway for that subnet also?

It resets every 2:20 when it isn't able to connect to something getwork.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, the server addresses all match the IP address of the PC that is running the stratum proxy.
All are on the same subnet which is "0" and the gateway matches as well.

I was actually mining on slush's pool for a while before the first reset, only at 9% inefficiency tho.

Is there a way i can run the blade without using the proxy just to see if it works?

Are there any pools i can test this with?

i really hope i didnt buy defective blades!
12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Block Erupter Blade help. Very odd issue... on: November 27, 2013, 06:08:28 AM
Hello,

I am brand new to this site but have been into bitcoin and litecoin mining for about 6 months now and decided to try out a couple block erupter blades.  The units arrived fast and the power wiring seemed quite easy.  I spun up a VM to host the stratum proxy and figured I would be good to go.  The blades came up and immediate started mining!  I hit about 2Ghash and then then stalled and slowly spin down until they reboot.  Once rebooted they do the same thing, right up to 2Ghash-ish and then fizzle down to a reboot.  I decided to move the proxy out of a VM and onto a physical PC.  Still same thing.  I move the blades into a different switch, same thing and then into the router directly, same thing.  I even switched up the proxy software to bfgminer, still no luck.  Same exactly symptoms.  What am I doing wrong?

No AV, no firewall and no settings on the switch ports.  I figured I must have bad blades to I bring them to my buddies house that has a similar setup.  We hook then onto his network, change the IP to work on this network and point to his proxy VM.  Boom!  10.9Ghash all day long.

It must be something in my environment and after troubleshooting all day, I am spent.  The only odd thing about my network is I use the "0" subnet (192.168.0.x) instead of "1".  Could that cause a problem?  It's hasn't for 10 years of running a "0" subnet at home instead of "1".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

John

John,
I'm having the exact same issue and after 48 hours of fussing with it and digging through this forum for answers im starting to think i got defective blades!
interesting though, i also have "0" subnet on my home network, could that really be the issue? weird...

Anyone else having this problem? anyone solve it?
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Block Erupter Blade keeps resetting at around 2 min. on: November 27, 2013, 04:59:27 AM
Still no luck... I ran bfgminer on the other computer and pointed it to slush's pool... same problem... 2 min. reset

Even if the data cable is not plugged in... 2 min. reset

im running out of ideas...

Am i the only one who is having this problem? Sad

I've been trying to get a block erupter blade to run for over 48 hours now.
After I finally figured out all the configuration details and downloaded all the needed software and set it up to run on a pool, it just runs for 2 min. and 20 sec. and then resets itself.
I've tried all of the fixes i could find here on the forum and nothing has worked.

can anybody help me?

Are you able to try it on a different computer? It could be some conflict with that machine, and if you can run them on another computer without issue, its probably the computer. If the same thing happens on another computer, its probably the erupters.

I'm not sure why but my other computer wont run the stratum proxy. maybe i'll try my laptop.

After fumbling with the blade for several hours without finding a solution, I opened a brand new one out of the box and configured it from scratch... same problem, resets itself after 2 min. 20 sec. exactly.

I'm going to try another PC...

Anyone else having the same problem?

Im having same problem, my Block Erupter Blade restart every 2 min 10 secs, stratum proxy is executed and connected to my PC on a LAN (not wifi) enviroment. PSU is more than enough and 12v rails have enough power.

Im not quite sure how to setup the stratum proxy and how to point on the block erupter config, can anybody guide me please?

Bellow is how i made the connection on the power connector, perhaps my cables are not well done

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?
The exact same thing is happening to me!

I'm all out, hopefully someone can chime in with something.

Have you tried it on a different pool to see if it does the same thing?

Thanks for your help! =)

Im trying different pools right now...

Ill post back here when i figure it out...

Thanks again,

You don't have to, if you have an online wallet. My concern was having two programs fighting for the same port.

To give the flag, either run it from the command line or make a shortcut and edit the shortcut and type in --http-port 8330 after bfgminer.exe

If there is a " after bfgminer.exe then add the flag after it

Michael

Thanks for the suggestions Michael!

I ran bfgminer with the --http-port 8330 and reconfigured the blade as well to port 8330...

It connected to slush and started hashing slowly then reset at 2 min. 20. secs...

same problem... im totally lost at this point!

any other ideas? ill try anything.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter Blade Configuration Page Issue. on: November 27, 2013, 01:58:33 AM
Everything looks configured correctly, but your proxy is throwing a bunch of errors.

Hopefully someone else can chime in on that.

Have you tried BFG Miner, I see you are using Windows 7, so unless it is starter it is most likely 64 bit. Download the 32 bit version anyway and give the "--http-port 8330" flag. You can then have it connect to slush pool and change your port on the blade to 8330.

Also, are you running bitcoin-qt in server mode on the same computer?

The errors pop up everytime the blade resets itself.

I have tried bfgminer 32bit version with no success... I'm sure i did something wrong though...

how do i give the "--http-port 8330" flag?

I am not running bitcoin-qt... should i be?

I have been running bitcoin-qt everytime i sleep or leave the house for over a month now and it has never finished syncing!
