Let me know if you'd like me to arrange hosting for your website. You can contact me preferrably via GPG or XMPP which is in my sig, or via PM.

Romania does not have any DMCA laws. Smiley

The DC will also forward all abuse complaints directly to you to handle and will not react to any threatening letters regardless of what it is about.

If you need somewhere safe to register a domain I would recommend https://anonymousspeech.com

I'm pretty sure it does not cost 25 BTC to get forum access. That's about $11,000 at current exchange rates.

Yes it does unfortunately, the cost is pegged to Bitcoin and will not change with the USD exchange rate according to the website. It has been 25BTC since the Foundation launched.

To put into perspective, it is 50BTC to get VIP status on BitcoinTalk.
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: anonymizing addresses on: November 15, 2013, 12:40:57 PM
The addresses may be linked in the future, for example, you receive 1BTC at address A and 1BTC at address B. You need to send Bob 1.5BTC, so your client sends 1BTC from A and 0.5BTC from B in the same transaction. Somebody who is checking the blockchain can see that A and B both belong to the same person.

They are not 'linked' by the same seed.

If you wish to not have two payments link together, you should generate a seperate wallet file and keep the payments in seperate wallets.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Setting up a public Bitcoin Foundation forum mirror on: November 15, 2013, 12:20:43 PM
Recently, a thread posted on the Bitcoin foundation forum that was 'leaked' by a member gained much popularity (Mike's comments on redlisting). Due to this, it has now become clear that we, as a community, need to be able to view all of the threads posted on the Bitcoin Foundation forum, which is closed to paying members only.

My plan is to set up a Bitcoin Foundation mirror. I would create a script that scrapes all new posts and threads on the Bitcoin Foundation forum at a regular interval, allowing us to view them but not reply or post new threads. It will use the useragent and browser fingerprint of a common web browser and would scrape at a random interval to hide the fact that it is scraping content.

I offer to set up such a website available as a clearnet website and also as a Tor hidden service in order to prevent any interference by the Bitcoin Foundation should they not approve of such a website. The website would be available to everyone free of charge with no registration required, no ads and no IP logging.

I will personally cover all costs of running the website. If in future this becomes difficult to do I will ask for donations to pay for this, and possibly add advertising similar to what BitcoinTalk currently has. I will not be running this website for a profit.

The only problem is that in order to do this I would need a Bitcoin Foundation forum account.

I do not have an account and they cost 25BTC, so if anyone likes my idea and is willing to donate their account please get in touch, you can send me a PM or preferrably use my GPG key below.
5  Other / Meta / Re: How do I Trust Someone I 'Distrusted' On Bitcointalk.org ? on: November 15, 2013, 01:01:50 AM
Simply go to their user profile, click on their trust page, and beside the trust you left them will be an option to delete.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vote No for Coin Validation! on: November 14, 2013, 10:20:44 PM
Just ask yourself, what would Satoshi pick?

Coin validation and blacklisting taint, are both completely against what Bitcoin was designed to be and the ideals it was founded upon.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hits $151,998 on: November 14, 2013, 09:24:08 PM
any exchange introduced BTC/Zimbabwe $ yet?

Zimbabwe dollar is no longer used because the Zimbabwean government mismanaged the currency by printing vasts amounts of it in order to pay off foreign debt and current expenditure. It caused hyper-inflation and caused the currency to devalue by 100,000% in a year.

They now use gold and US dollars to transact.

It's an interesting story and a perfect example of what can go wrong when a central authority has control of a currency.

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does this forum store IP addresses? on: November 14, 2013, 08:00:12 PM
Is the forum willing to disclose a list of IP's used by a user when requested by a Law Enforcement agency?

If so, is it a blanket thing where all requests are complied with, or is each request checked by the forum staff before giving out the information?

Has any such requests been received yet?

Not that I fear a LEA requesting my IP's Cheesy I'm just curious how the forum handles or plans to handle situations like this.

Anyone who is worried about the forum logging IP addresses should be using Tor to access the website.

No. USD withdrawals outside of Japan have very long delays and some are not processed at all.

gambling(which profits support crime)

Sorry for the off-topic, but proof of this please? Kinda ironic coming from somebody advertising a gambling website in their signature. Smiley

17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please explain to me how wallets work on: November 13, 2013, 11:05:33 PM
Thanks.

1) So, is it safer to keep currencies on my trading account ? (btc-e. Sorry it's the only one I tried)
2) What with addresses created by "light wallet" installed on my computer ?
3) How to create adresses for other currencies ? I'm stuck at keeping alt currencies on trading platform ?

1) No. Don't do that. That is definitely not safe at all. Your BTC-e account could be hacked, the website could get hacked, the owners could go rogue. It's never a good idea to keep money on an exchange for a long time.

2) Thats much safer than keeping them in your trading account, but the safest is still paper. In my last post I was just pointing out some possible ways that your money could be taken, it's still much safer than keeping it on any website or keeping it on a computer thats connected to the internet.

3) Not all of these new altcoins have easy ways of generating paper wallets. I would download the client for those currencies and store them locally on your machine.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC crash poll on: November 13, 2013, 10:59:18 PM
I think that this is a speculative bubble, but I am not sure if we will retrace to $100.

Predicting the value of Bitcoin seems nearly impossible. It's always full of surprises.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please explain to me how wallets work on: November 13, 2013, 10:53:12 PM
The address you generated on bitaddress.org is a Bitcoin address, not a Litecoin or other cryptocurrency address.

You can use the following website to generate paper wallets for Litecoin:
https://liteaddress.org/

Keep in mind that when using these websites you should be sure that the code has not been tampered with. An attacker or a bad admin could change the javascript and insert a faulty RNG or have it automatically send all the private keys back to the server without your knowledge. Malware on your pc may be able to steal your private key when your generating it too.
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MT-GOX Robbery on: November 13, 2013, 06:23:32 PM
Sorry to say this, but there is not much you can do.

I would not recommend storing more than you can afford to lose on a website or on a device that is connected to the internet. You should keep most of your BTC on a paper wallet or device not connected to the internet.
