1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: March 21, 2019, 04:08:27 PM
I’m curious if anyone has gotten the Remote Agent to run on an Ubuntu 18.04 server (and actually benchmark and mine).  I’d like to remove complexity :cough Windows: from my rigs and just have them headlessly run managed by a main PC.  I’ve been able to build up a server with NVIDIA Drivers and get it capable of mining, but attempting to benchmark or manage the system remotely has failed.  If you have gotten one up, what exactly did you do to get the agent running?  Also, is there any functionality I lose running on Linux over Windows?

Hello,

2 quick questions.  New to mining and linux ... not new to PCs.  I loaded this OS on a ThinkServer 140 with a Nvidia 1070 in it over the weekend.  I got it working, but it will only work with the BIOS in Legacy mode.  Booting in UEFI says Operating System not Found.  I originally thought it was due to me initializing the disk as MBR, so I wiped it and initialized it GPT.  That didn't seem to help.  I'm ok with running this system in Legacy BIOS, but I'm looking to build an 8 GPU miner and was reading in this thread UEFI may need to be enabled to get some systems to see 8 GPUs.  Is it the image I'm using?  Is there a UEFI capable disk image out there anywhere?

2nd, the 8 GPU miner I want to build.  With video cards in short supply and going for 2-2.5x MSRP prices, I'm wondering if I should just hoard cash until the Volta line of GPUs become available.  This might be a stupid question, but am I right in assuming getting a Volta based GPU to work in Simple Miner is as simple as updating video drivers?

Also, once I got it setup, SimpleMiner works like a champ ... love the OS.
