1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ● TheChiefCoin ● CHIEF ● Scrypt ● NEW THREAD ● on: February 10, 2017, 10:54:27 PM
sigh.

Let me try this again.

I set this account up back in 2013/2014 when I was mining LTC and BTC but I stopped after the last big crash and kinda lost interest. This account was inactive for a couple of years.

Someone hacked the account - apparently the dev for this Chief coin.

I got a pm from someone so I logged back and to find various things posted from my account. Clearly it wasn't me so I went through and deleted all the posts as I thought they were probably scamming people. I have nothing to do with Chief coin - not dev, not ever mined it, nothing at all. Whoever posted about this Chief coin originally, did so by hacking my account to post under my name. Draw your own conclusions about the people behind this coin.

That clearer?

I am the original account holder from 2014. This account was hacked by whoever was claiming to be the Dev for ChiefCoin and then they posted this thread (not me)

I've since regained control and deleted their posts in my name. Personally I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole.

I will now lock this thread.

You are mistaken. I am the original holder of this account and was mining back in 2014 (however I'm not anymore)

I now have control of my account again and have nothing to do with this (I'm all in BTC now)

These scumbags hacked my account and used it to post the nonsense about this "alternate cryptocurrency". Personally I'd run a mile - but if you want to trust them with your time/money thats up to you. Caveat Emptor.

12  Economy / Computer hardware / selling my rigs on: February 27, 2014, 04:33:45 AM
so I have 3 scrypt rigs, about 2kHs each (3 x R9 280x in each)  that I am considering getting rid of.

question is - sell as complete rigs, or breakup and sell gfx cards seperately

any thoughts?

(I may keep one and my cube just to stay involved - thinking...)

If an arm or a leg dies and falls off, the organism grows new ones back, and continues thriving.

completely agree with this.

Just wish the tree wasn't looking quite so bare at the moment with all the limbs that keep falling off.....each one does makes us stronger though....slowly....

and seriously...

I only have so much sympathy for people who left significant money on an exchange called "Magic the Gathering Online Exchange"

Here's a top tip for those using BTC-e, Bter (both of which I love) and other exchanges - none of them are reputable financial institutions like Wells Fargo, Chase (don't laugh - you get what I mean). They're small operations, based in eastern block countries, with difficult to contact organisers. Don't risk your money!! Store your coins offline!!

all this does not make financially feasible to keep mining. I dono.. Just thoughts.

so less people will mine, difficulty will drop and it becomes financially feasible again.

Lovely.

There is proof that the coins have changed owners. If you dont see them, restart your wallet. Please check the blockchain before posting.

thanks for posting that - there's still several things I don't like about Ripple after reading it, but I'd rather make that decision from a more educated position!

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The History of Bitcoin on: February 02, 2014, 08:25:29 AM
Jan 9,2009 - it states that "it includes a Bitcoin generation system that would create a total of 21 million Bitcoins through the year 2040."

shouldn't that be 2140?
