1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MOON] Mooncoin 🌙 44495 funded addresses. 2,064,149 txs. 5 block explorers on: February 03, 2018, 07:39:28 PM
So what's the purpose of the MOON?
Just trading?

People often ask about the purpose of coin. People want to see one simple idea behind any coin.
For example, ETH - smart contracts, ETC - classic ETH, XMR or DASH - privacy,
LTC - silver to BTC, STEEM - rewards for posting, DOGE - for fun, XP - for online gamers etc.

The problem with Mooncoin, it's very decentralised and it has several projects in several directions,
MoonWord, SmartLikes (in progress), MoonEdu (promised by Evangelo, we all are still waiting for it, BTW, some update from Evangelo would be great).

Thus, people look at MOON and don't see one simple idea behind it. They don't understand what is so special about MOON. Investors need one simple idea to understand the project better.

Maybe the idea could be: a coin for scientific and social progress. MoonWord could be adjusted for free using in science and in social projects.
Currently a lot of people and even governments want to use blockchain, but just don't know where to start. To launch their own coin? Without miners, it will not be truly decentralised.
But it's very difficult to create a big network of miners and nodes from scratch. Why not using established and well tested one instead?

What do you think of it?
Mooncoin as a coin of scientific and social progress? Not for making a quick buck.
Mooncoin has a perfect name to match this idea.
Apollo Moon programs were stopped in the 20th century. Bright romantic ideas of space exploration were forgotten (quite small developments in this sphere).
Now people want mostly new gadgets (look at Apple's market cap) and make a quick buck somehow. That looks insane for people who lived 30-50 years ago.
No one can guarantee that this situation will not be changed in the future. Then, even if you want to make a quick buck now, you could be the first who understood that another world was upcoming,
the world of science (blockchain is only one important part of progress), the world of social progress, of another mentality, less boring, less agressive, more focused on real life, on really interesting things, not 2d (money+instincts), instead of that 3d, many 'd'.

Hello,

Recently a similar situation occurred for HTMLCOIN.

Here is a quote of what their CEO posted on FB page. I don't know if its against the rule to post info on other coins. But I think this is the same route Mooncoin should go, regarding those 62B mooncoin. So, I am posting it here. I remember one member said he knows Vassilis personaly, maybe he can forward this message to him if he is no longer visiting or posting on Bitcointalk forum for legal reasons. As the HTMLCOIN team has legal representatives and they must have gone this route after getting their feedback. Vassilis can also get in touch with HTMLCOIN team to get more legal info. Forward this to him if possible, I'll PM the same message to him.

"Dear Htmlcoin Community,

RE: The Htmlcoin Community: Steadfast & Resilient.

As you all know, shortly after HTMLCOIN swapped from HTML5 to the new HTML blockchain, CoinGather, one of the largest exchanges that supported HTMLCOIN, disappeared from the Internet. Despite repeated attempts at contact by the Foundation and the many users who had coins stored on that exchange, to my knowledge, no one has been successful in reaching the owner of CoinGather. The Foundation has been closely monitoring the address to which it swapped approximately 13.98 billion HTML; to date, no coins have left that address.

Shortly after CoinGather went offline, we were made aware of user reports to the FBI of a potential exit scam. In light of this, we cannot discuss the matter except to inform the Community that, to prevent these coins from entering circulation, at block height 106,000, the HTMLCOIN blockchain was hard forked to freeze the almost 14 billion coins in that address and to regenerate them in a new address.

These coins belong to their rightful owners, and will only be released on direction from the authorities or final resolution on the CoinGather matter. NO NEW COINS were added to circulation or supply, as the original coins are no longer valid for transactions on the blockchain, the old coins in Coingather's wallet are lack and cannot be spent.

Please direct any questions you may have to dev@htmlcoin.team.

PS: More Exchange services to come.

All the best,

Amando R. Boncales, BA, MSEd, MA, PhDc.
Chief Executive Officer
The Htmlcoin Foundation"

Good luck to everyone.

Forgive me my ignorance but how the coins were returned? What exactly happened?

Vassilis_Dev are you saying that you are being threaten?

Good afternoon. This issue will be solved very soon. There are many other positive sujects about Mooncoin.
So, can we talk for them ?  Smiley
Many people believe in Moon, but have no clue what happened, and how it happened. It's normal that this activity attracts a lot of attention.
Depending on the outcome, and how happy people are with this outcome, you coin will or will not go to the moon.

Since it's this amount of coins I'd suggest talking to the Cryptsy Cryptocurrency Administrator and a lawyer.
It's not only about what people want, but also about what's legal or not.
Good luck to you! I bought a big chunk at 3 sat. We'll see were we land..hopefully on Mars.  Wink

Exactly.. read your post.. you suggest.. everyone suggests..
This Cryptsy Cryptocurrency Administrator maybe is legal, or has jurisdiction in my country/Europe, maybe not!
The logic, fair and the right are not legal at the same time!
Right now I'm waiting the results from my lawyers..
I want the best for Mooncoin!
I have no idea what is legal or not.. I need information before any action!

Glad to hear. Keep us posted when you have more info. Thanks.

Please, community forgive me for my silence!

My life 2 days now is a real nightmare!
I get pm's from threats until asking money!
I check every few minutes if anything missing from the account!
The wallet is shield with the key and are not in network from yesterday.
Now is in my law consultants hands in privacy and secured for my personal safety.

Facts:
The 1st wave started after the announcement of the new dev(me)
The 1st wave used the old wallet.(the new wasn't working - in previous post i have post the commit/fix which published 1 day after the wave)
The last wave which came to my account happened ~1 day or less after my last communication with exchangers which ask them if they can block a series of addresses/transactions.(I have no reply yet from both)(I guess I'm in their list now! Cheesy)

Get in touch with Max Keiser to get some info on cryto/blockchain expert lawyer. I don't think normal lawyer will be able to handle it, but that's just my suggestion, do what you think is best for you, the community and the future of this crypto.

Normally stolen goods are illegal in consequence, if not returned to their rightful owners; so an expert opinion from a qualified lawyer would be a good thing indeed.

This qualified lawyer should be also a crypto expert and understand the nature of decentralised projects. In fact there is a lack of laws in this field yet.
Anyway if rightful owners want to burn coins, it's quite simple and fair. Or we can discuss it for years and while we are discussing, coins could be stolen again.
Better really burn them asap.

Really trying to make this the last message regarding it; we could get in contact with the 'Cryptsy Cryptocurrency Administrator' (email at bottom of http://www.cryptsysettlement.com/) asking their advice; standard 2 weeks to reply, if this time lapses; burn them.

Vassilis? What do you think?

james

for lawyer, maybe you guys can also get in touch with Max Keiser, the journalist, he hosts lots of crypto lawyers on his show, maybe he can forward Vassilis to a proper experienced one.

but for now that wallet should be offline on a system without internet connection.

OK, My first post and have a few noob questions and thoughts about this huge supply of Cryptsy coins that landed on Vassilis's wallet.

If the coins are burned, will it decrease the total supply permanently? If that is the case then how is it helpful? I guess the only good thing is, it will have a positive impact on price of Mooncoin as a short term effect.

From my understanding of previous posts, It is illegal to spend these coins on Vassilis's wallet for further development of Mooncoin in any form or launching new features and projects.

But, is it illegal as they were send to him without his prior knowledge? As this kind of act seems to be a donation of sort. For example, if someone robs a bank with no connection to me and next morning i check my bank account and I see a huge balance in my account as for what ever reason he decided to donate that amount to me because I do help my community anyway I can? So, will it fall under donation money/commodity category and will it be illegal if I use that donation money for the community?

What if an Virtual NGO (non-profit organization) is formed by Vassilis or a custodian/custodians, who Vassilis hands over/donates the aforementioned mooncoin after formation of the VNGO (assuming he does want want the hassle of dealing with it), who will only spend the coins for further/future development of the Mooncoin and projects/promotions relating to it. Will it be illegal to use those coins then?

As I am not an expert, but if indeed coins burned, permanently decreases the total supply of coins, then it is a big loss. If you think this crypto will survive 50/100 years or more, or evolve into something else in future.

We need an expert opinion from a lawyer, before we do anything drastic like decrease total supply.

This is just my own thoughts and sorry about my English as its not my first language Smiley
