1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wallet on: November 25, 2013, 08:28:46 PM
The wallet you choose depends on your needs. Just don't choose a ''third party wallet'', it's unsafe. Here are some safe options, copied from http://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet:

Bitcoin-Qt (Windows, Linux Mac OS X)
Bitcoin-Qt is a full Bitcoin client and builds the backbone of the network. It offers the highest levels of security, privacy, and stability. However, it has fewer features and it takes a lot of space and memory.

MultiBit (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X)
MultiBit is a lightweight client that focuses on being fast and easy to use. It synchronizes with the network and is ready to use in minutes. MultiBit also supports many languages. It is a good choice for non-technical users.

Armory (Windows, Linux)
Armory is an advanced Bitcoin client that expands its features for Bitcoin power users. It offers many backup and encryption features, and it allows secure cold-storage on offline computers.
2  Other / Politics & Society / Re: assassination market -- legitimate tit-for-tat as per the N.A.P., or coercion? on: November 25, 2013, 08:20:00 PM
Quote
The site operator is a deluded maniac.
The site operator is a fricken genius and/or hero.

Both statements could be true. If he actually pays the money to the killer(s) he is a maniac. If he doesn't, he is a hero. He would steal money from the killer and from people who wanted to pay to see someone dead. It will lead to big skepticism of people who actually uses assassination market, making it more likely people would not use it anymore. Then it would be a win-win situation.

Nice copy paste. Let me summarize it: common sense.
6  Local / Beurzen / Re: Opstarten van een Litecoin/Bitcoin exchange? 0% Trading fee on: November 24, 2013, 04:16:57 PM

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Datacoin Logo Contest! on: November 24, 2013, 11:46:15 AM

Here's another concept I made. This one is in copper, but of course I can also make a silver or golden one. I figured my previous attempt looked too, how do I say it, ''flat''. Feedback appreciated.

In my opinion the best musical composition he has ever written.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When will BTC be worth $100,000 per BTC??? on: November 23, 2013, 07:01:04 PM
The future of the Bitcoin is uncertain, so it's hard to tell. It will take time for the world to embrace and trust the Bitcoin (assuming the Bitcoin won't be replaced by another peer-to-peer digital currency, like Litecoins), but if it happens than Bitcoin can reach that value. Of course I can't see in the future but my guess would be that it would happen in the year 2038. Lets say 17 May 2038...
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Way to earn BTC? on: November 23, 2013, 06:47:58 PM
I wouldn't put a lot of effort in faucets. The best way to earn Bitcoins is to earn money and then convert that money to Bitcoin. You can also offer services on Economy > Marketplace > Services. ''Renting'' your signature is a pretty good way of making some Bitcoins.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Datacoin Logo Contest! on: November 23, 2013, 05:29:10 PM
Here's just a first global design that I made real quick. I think this is a logic design for ''Datacoin''. Could you give some descriptions of the logo you have in mind? Do you want a 2D kind, which color, etc.? I would like some feedback.

Don't do it. With the popularity of Bitcoin on the rise, the difficulty level will rise, which means you will get less rewarded for mining in the future. Mining will soon be a serious business, only done by big investors, who would use a lot of mining rigs at the same time in a country where the electricity is the cheapest. I wouldn't recommend any individual to start mining at this point, simply because it's just too uncertain if you will earn your money back, let alone make a profit.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Altering the blockchain on: November 21, 2013, 09:46:56 PM
Thanks for the reply Akka. I have found a way to generate as much unconfirmed bitcoins as I want. Now I only need to find out how I can transfer those unconfirmed bitcoins to 'real' bitcoins. Does someone have an idea? How high are my changes to achieve this? All help is welcome.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Altering the blockchain on: November 21, 2013, 08:59:13 PM
Is there any possible theoretic way to alter the blockchain of bitcoin? Or is it possible to create an own address where you can choose your own characters? Is it also possible to send unconfirmed bitcoins? I guess the answers to these questions are no, but wouldn't there be a theoretical way to do this?
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why you use Bitcoin? on: November 13, 2013, 08:50:29 PM
I use it because it's the future. I'm sure that in twenty-thirty years we can't imagine a world without digital money storage and online transactions, just like we can't imagine todays world without online shopping, online education, etc. As I said, it might take a long time though, because storing online money (in fact storing it on one single file) will make people feel uncomfortable. We talk about peoples money (=peoples lives) here so it may take a while for the average person to fully embrace the system and become a part of it.
Even if I'm wrong and this won't be used by the majority of the world within dozens of years, bitcoins are still a good investment, simply because it has a lot of advantages compared to the current way of money transactions. So yeah, I believe in bitcoins. And so does a growing amount of people with me. And believing in something means value increase. Basic economics.
