1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / mycellium bug / exploit on: December 20, 2013, 07:12:33 PM
DISREGARD USER ERROR Mod please delete

Edit: Figured this out. Friend clicked on the wrong address in his wallet and had me send funds to a compromised address http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1t07uw/i_made_my_own_laser_etched_wooden_cold_storage/ce30bp1

Yesterday I sent 0.0993 BTC to my friends phone and the funds never showed up. I am using an LG G2 with android 4.2.2 and the most recent mycellium and he has a nexus 5 with android 4.4 with the most up to date mycellium. My address is 15eoLGGEwnVyqUxY8yQrNKf6c8zM7Hqanh and his is  1KaPzW1GPpYMzYBVTbHQ2zaUNfaMhPfZiU.

According to blockchain.info the funds left his wallet a couple minutes before they even arrived. I am assuming that as soon as he generated the QR code a withdraw was placed for the exact amount. I can only assume that his private key was compromised. He had just generated that key minutes before we did that transaction.

I know those funds are gone I just want people to be aware that there could be a serious bug somewhere. The BTC ended up in this address 1Gbp4mLHPepB3FFmBphhNcyLNaYLFyHcxj which at one point had swept correct horse battery staple. This is very weird. Any insight into what just happened would be appreciated.

Edit: The address 1KaPzW1GPpYMzYBVTbHQ2zaUNfaMhPfZiU was not generated from a brain wallet. It was randomly generated inside of mycelium, and neither phone is rooted.

Edit: I cross posted this to reddit here is the link. http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1tcg43/mycelium_bug_exploit/

I am really glad this guy is making these types of videos. They are easy to understand and well made. It helps a lot of people that don't understand what is going on with Bitcoin.

Was is just me or was that Dr. Christos Vlachos occasionally/randomly talking in his native language, or was he just talking really fast? Found it comical either way.

I am not sure if it was just his accent or he was speaking another language. Still a good talk.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt Big Giveaway!!! on: December 06, 2013, 08:54:10 AM
I would just like a little to play around with before I go promoting this on my facebook feed and reddit. I am interested in this but am a little worried that unless these coins can be distributed more evenly it is destined to fail. In my mind it is a 100% premined coin. If there is no mining and is 100% proof of stake it seems like the poor will slowly accumulate coin but the rich will grow richer at a far greater rate. It kinda reminds me of the US the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I haven't done a lot of reading on this yet, but I plan to spend some quality time here in the next few days. I do like the client I think it is a pretty slick alternative to the normal altcoin-qt that most people use. Anyway here is my address.

5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Multiple Receive addresses and Private keys in one wallet??? on: November 14, 2013, 04:00:02 AM
You would have to import all three private keys to gain access to the three addresses. If you misplace one of the private keys you would lose access to the funds that are in the corresponding address.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does anyone have experience with mining on CEX.IO? on: November 14, 2013, 03:51:17 AM
One of my friends spent about 1 bitcoin on mining with CEX.IO. He sold his shares just before the last difficulty adjustment and broke even. From where I am sitting it seems like it would be very hard to make any money mining with them. If you played the market right you could buy low sell high and make money but then you are just day trading with mining shares. I am a firm believer that the best way to get bitcoin is just to buy it and not worry about mining. Just leave it to the big boys.
