My miners have still been working, but where has web site been?

"Short period of time"? It's been days.

anyone?

...

and http://178.62.133.174:9001/#/chain/

not sure the "mined" and "supply" is correct though.

...

Just saw these new posts.
I could be wrong but wouldn't circulating supply be the current top block?

At any rate, I'm not the dev and not quite sure what you are asking? (I am sleep deprived right now which isn't helping..)

And yes, I put up some links to help when I saw http://178.62.133.174:9001 wasn't working anymore..

https://soil.holylinux.net/ -> my pool - the following links are also at bottom/footer on pool page :
http://soilblocks.holylinux.net and some blocktimes -> http://soilblocks.holylinux.net/#/chain/
https://soilstats.holylinux.net/  (probably not very accurate/but most ethash stats pages I see aren't very)

(If you are looking to mine please give my pool a try. Concerned no one is mining on my pool? Don't be - you WILL win blocks easily. You do not need multi-miners on soil pools to win coins/blocks. The only drawback/concern are these ever increasing blocktimes. I am making next to nothing on my pool and doing this as a service because I like the idea behind this coin - it also helps it's still listed on Cryptopia. ;-) I just hope dev (or someone) starts working on it again!!)

If you get http://178.62.133.174:9001 working and/or find out more info please post here. :-)

The thing that concerns me most is the ever increasingly huge blocktimes. I doubt this was by design?
I find myself having to adjust pool variables every couple weeks (so that the pool home page/etc stats are more correct (things like variance are based on a static blocktime variable - soilcoin avg blocktime isn't staying static as you can see).

I may edit this later after I get some sleep. lol...

Why bother with dead coin?

One main reason: If whattomine would list it again on main page, it would be 9th in profitability today (just after Pirl).
Why bother asking on a dead coin if you have it all figured out?

My soil safe wallet is looking for peers for ages now. The last block I received was 19 days ago. Does anyone have any idea what to do? I'm running the latest version of the wallet.

If it's the Linux one, you just add the peers to the gsoil client startup as --bootnodes arguments.
If Windows I have no idea - haven't used it. I assume it runs gsoil (aka forked geth) in background, though. So, I would also assume you can add peers/nodes to it as well.

Here's a few that I use as startup to gsoil command - not sure they all work but will get you synced:

Code:

I have put up a new block explorer since old has been defunct for so long; was done rather quickly, but appears to work okay. Tip: Don't try and use shapeshift  Wink - will remove that another day..

Enjoy.

I have 0 node connection. Always 24/7. How to fix this problem? Somebody knows?

Yeah, it has problems. (Windows version anyway).

So let me get this right:

1. This is a closed-source wallet that never loads? Hmmm. If I was a paranoid person...

2. Devs can't respond to simple node requests so we can sync? Huh.

3. And also - I click wallet:

A 1/2 hour of NOTHING shown after I clicked it.

I let it run in background (along with it's invisible console process). GUI finally comes up to.. :

Nothing.
This for the next 2 hours :

(and I finally closed it). Tried this on two different dates. I'm done.

Better luck next time - I know it's sooo hard to give the enduser information regarding what your app is doing like other wallets. (Is it syncing - WHO KNOWS? - you give us no info). Maybe strive for that next time? (What is going on in background with the console that gets spawned by your exe.. maybe update your gui instead of leaving it on loading screen) We might even be able to see if any peers are connected that way? Go figure. Pitiful.

i dont know,  blocktime shouldn't have to be re set all the time because of more hashrate, ethereum is proof of this. keeps a 15s blocktime average regardless if its 130 th/s or 170 th/s so why shouldn't soil? instantly as hashrate goes up, blocktime goes down, http://178.62.133.174:9001/#/chain/ is what i use, right now its been a very low hashrate and therefore blocktime is around 53s last 10 blocks, which is ridicules. but instantly as hashrate goes up, blocktime goes down and difficulty up. but i dont see this as pool sided.

what i see is a Treshold that the developer wants there to be a certain amount of hashrate on the network before giving out all the coins as promised, this will keep single miners with 1-2 gh/s from scooping up all the coins if there is low hashrate, which isn't really fair in any sort of way.

i've watched expanse, ellaism, all go from 200 gh/s to 990 GH/s and blocktime is always the same average, it doesn't change based on pool and not the hashrate, for soil all i see is a treshold, once we surpass it again there will be 15s blocktime average, but right now its too low.

Yes, as far as I understand it* you are exactly right : the difficulty is the only thing that should be changing relative to the network and is based on the network looking at the previous blocktime found. (Blocktime going down - raise diff. Blocktime going up - lower diff). But 'gsoil' also has those hardfork variables laid in once certain block heights are achieved..

Example (Ethereum) of block time calc and diff adjustment as needed:
Code:
block_time=current_block_timestamp — parent_block_timestamp
current_block_difficulty = parent_block_difficulty + (parent_block_difficulty // 2048) * max(1 — (block_time// 10), -99) + int(2**((current_block_number // 100000) — 2))

Anyway, as you said, the set blocktime -should- be maintained (via difficulty).

The approximate network hashrate is just a by product of this - and as it says: it's an approximation.

From what I've seen over last few months block time was 30+ secs (?) on soilcoin and has been going up since (?) (What I remember..) Now around 53 secs last I looked. So, not sure what's going on with it - seems to drift up. It's still mine-able, though, which I guess is main concern (for now..)

( My pool: https://soil.holylinux.net - yes my blocktime variable is updated. LOL. Is at 53 secs right now. Though, now I see https://whattomine.com/coins/189-soil-ethash has increased to 55secs (was 53 other day)..)

* Ethereum: "The difficulty dynamically adjusts so that on average one block is produced by the entire network every 12 seconds (ie., 12 s block time). This heartbeat basically punctuates the synchronisation of system state and guarantees that maintaining a fork (to allow double spend) or rewriting history is impossible unless the attacker possesses more than half of the network mining power (so called 51% attack)." ( From: https://github.com/ethereum/wiki/wiki/Mining )

you guys seen this? http://soilex.altervista.org/index.html

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/1258

Edit: it seems like the longer blocktime happened after block 3 000 000 and right now its slowly starting to cease but still cant figure out any source to the issue besides bad coin not being able to sustain itself when hitting higher blocks.

https://image.prntscr.com/image/UWgI_UAGT3SR-XVvx8DwZQ.png

to me looks like its the same as what happened to ethereum, but they did an update in november https://image.prntscr.com/image/akmLYODKSF_zx7OWeD_Lxg.png

Yeah, wish someone in charge would start working on this coin again..
All I can do as far as my pool is plugin what I see on that stat page.
Unless I find a better/official(?) source of data, I have to use blocktime as shown and assume its close.

BTW: Shows same blocktime on major coin price sites, too. (whattomine etc).
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🌱[ANN] SOIL | Environmental | Agriculture | Smart Contracts | Sustainable on: January 21, 2018, 05:50:31 PM
on the pools http://soil.pool.sexy/#/ and so on they show 12-14 gh/s all the time
its like they take 5 gh/s x 42s blocktime
they base Live rewards with the 15s blocktime and since the blocktime is 40s they x3 the GH/s  thats what it looks like right now, just a scam if you ask me.
but i dont see any reason for the block counter to be wrong, seeing latest block on the block explorer is where the software reads block count.

EDIT blocktime gone down

i see last 12 hour the average blocktime vent from 43s average to 40s but right now its going back up again.

Yep - They just need to update the avg blocktime variable is my guess. (Just one place in code.)
You could try my pool - mine's correct. lol..
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🌱[ANN] SOIL | Environmental | Agriculture | Smart Contracts | Sustainable on: January 21, 2018, 01:29:19 AM
why the stats on stats page show 6 gh/s but pool websites shows 15 gh/s ? which one is correct?

It's based on difficulty and avg block time.

Right now the "AVG Network Hashrate" on stats site shows:
6.3G

At the same moment in time:
Difficulty is showing 212.12 G
Average block time is ~43 seconds.

212120000000 / 43 = 4919930232.55814

The average network hashrate is therefore around ~4.92G at this point in time.
And indeed my pool shows a 4.91 Network hash rate right now. (soil.holylinux.net)

~6.3G isn't even close. Not sure how they even calculated it based on other stats I see.
