1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet receive still not done after 4 months??? on: May 08, 2018, 12:21:58 AM
OK  Grin

The most helpful answer was to upgrade the Electrum wallet to the latest build.   This has indeed let me see the transaction, and now it has 5 confirmations.

Apparently my €50 of BTC is now worth only €27 - but at least the right number of BTC is appearing in the History page of Electrum.
On the other hand the Receive screen stlll shows it as Pending.    Presumably after a while it will show as confirmed?

Question Someone responded that my Receive transaction in Electrum was not necessary and that I could delete it.
But without a Receive transaction, how would I get a new Receiving Address ?
(afaik it should be unique for every transaction?)

2  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum training video? Beginner's guide ? on: May 08, 2018, 12:06:04 AM
As a complete newbie to cryptocurrency trading and using a soft-wallet, I opted (from online reviews) to try Electrum.
-
So far all I am trying to do is transfer a few mBTC which I purchased in BitPanda into my wallet.
-
I started trying to make sense of the documentation - and even this is totally confusing.
Lots of answers to questions, but no step-by-step guide "how to use Electrum to make a payment" and "how to use Electrum to receive a deposit".
-
Are there any tutorials on the basics?
-
Also is that anything which actually explains what all the hex numbers are and how/when/why I would use any of them?
I see for my receive transaction I have a "transaction id", one "input" hex number and two "output" hex numbers. When would I want to know them and then how to use them to do what?
3  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum wallet receive still not done after 4 months??? on: May 07, 2018, 12:03:07 AM
 Huh

I made my first ever BTC purchase (just a mere €50 in case it went pear shaped - which it has!).

I cannot seem to get the BTC into my Electrum wallet !

I have had the receive request outstanding in my Electrum wallet since 7/1/2018 .... so 4 months as of today.

What on earth am I supposed to do to be able to get my BTC into my wallet?

FYI - I bought them via the BitPanda site.    I have a record of the "payout to wallet" transaction in BitPanda - but nothing stored in my wallet.

So, end result is my €50 experiment has disappeared into a black hole !!!

Anyone have a clue what I need to do to find my BTC (or my money instead) ?

PS:  I did ask BitPanda support - but they just reply with a standard text with a series of links ..... what I didn't get from them was an answer to my question "Where has my €50 of BTC gone?"

Any help / guidance will be appreciated - since I don't want to make larger purchases until I know I understand how this works and that I can actually find what I am supposed to have bought !

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How do I export my Bitcoins from BitPanda to my own wallet on: January 11, 2018, 03:32:25 AM
OK - So at last I understand that in BitPanda, I can only buy Bitcoins within their own wallet they provide me - and that I then need to "export" them to get them into my own wallet.
-
How on earth do I do this?
-
There is nothing in the BitPanda FAQ about this ...
There is no button / option labelled "Export" or anything similar.
-
I just want to get my Bitcoins from BitPanda into my own Wallet (I am trying out the Electrum desktop wallet).
-
Is there a step-by-step guide or youtube video which shows how to export Bitcoins from BitPanda into a desktop or hardware wallet?

Many thanks in advance for any help.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How do I identify my "Transaction ID" from a BitPanda BTC purchase? on: January 07, 2018, 04:34:39 PM
Thanks for the info.
-
It would have been VERY nice if BitPanda could have explained this !
-
My concern now is that I have lost my €50, since the receiving address I entered into the BitPanda transaction was from my Electrum [desktop] wallet and not from a BitPanda wallet.
-
(I'll have to go back to BitPanda to see if I even have a wallet there - or yet need to create one).
-
I can see now this is yet another why Bitcoin trading is so difficult and risky - good job I didn't splash out on a few thousand Euros on my first attempt at purchasing Bitcoin.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How do I identify my "Transaction ID" from a BitPanda BTC purchase? on: January 07, 2018, 03:32:12 PM
I am tying to track a purchase of Bitcoin I made using BitPanda (I paid in cash - Euro - from bank account).

I understand that if I enter the Transaction ID into the blockchain.info search screen, I can see the details of the transaction.

BUT - WHICH is the Transaction ID from all the numbers I see in BitPanda?

I have the following numbers from BitPanda screens:-
 - Order ID in Trade Details screen
 - Wallet Transaction payout to id in Trade Details screen
 - Order ID in the Wallet transaction screen
 - The PID in the Wallet Transaction screen  (no idea what "PID" stands for)

And in my Electrum Wallet is have:-
 - Receiving Address    -  which is what I pasted into the equivalent field (I hope!) when making the BTC  purchase in BitPanda.

  • Do you know if any of these numbers would be the Transaction ID to make the blockchain.info search?

Or is it some other number?   If so what & where would I find it?

OK - but WHICH is the Transaction ID from all the numbers I see?

I have the following numbers from BitPanda screens:-
 - Order ID in Trade Details screen

An of course in my Electrum Wallet is have:-
 - Receiving Address    -  which is what I pasted into the equivalent field (I hope!) when making the BTC  purchase in BitPanda.

Do you know if any of these numbers would be the Transaction ID you referred to?
Or is that something else altogether.

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Transaction "Finished" but no Bitcoin anywhere on: January 07, 2018, 09:57:54 AM
OK - as a first time user I have tried to buy €50 of Bitcoin as a test to see if I understand how to buy Bitcoin and get it into my Electrum wallet.
--
I pasted in the value of the "Receving Address" value shown in my Electrum wallet into the Receiving Address field in the transaction in BitPanda - and paid using SOFORT-Transfer.
--
The transaction is now shown as "Finished" in BitPanda.
So WHERE is the Bitcoin amount I have purchased?
--
I cannot find anything showing in my Electrum wallet.  The [coins] tab in Electrum has no details under the headings (empty list).
I also cannot see them in BitPanda either.
--
Did I do the right thing in pasting in the "Receving Address" value shown in my Electrum wallet into the BitPanda Receiving Address field?
--
Or have I managed to lose the BTC by putting invalid input into the BitPanda transaction?  Bitpanda shows a completed Trade and Wallet Transaction and says that I bought 0.00346489 BTC.
