4  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Cold storage process on: June 01, 2014, 10:25:08 PM
Okay thanks. Okay I will generate addresses from watch only in the future. But I did generate an address in the offline wallet and sent bitcoins there. Will this address show up when I get access to my watch only wallet? Or do I need to import another copy from the offline wallet?
5  Bitcoin / Armory / Cold storage process on: May 31, 2014, 11:38:28 AM
Hi so I transferred my coins into cold storage a while ago using armory. I just bought a whole load more bitcoins so I want to get some confirmation that I have done everything right. I installed ubuntu onto a usb, then booted off the usb. In ubuntu I connected to the internet 1 time and installed armory offline, then disconnected from the internet completely. I created an offline wallet and generated a paper backup. I wrote down my password and all the information on the paper wallet on 3 separate pieces of paper and stored these safely in different locations. This backs up all the addresses that I will ever generate in this wallet right? So I now generated a few addresses over time and have sent bitcoins to them. Everything is safe now right and I can keep generating new addresses within this wallet and sending coins to them and everything will be backed up safely?

I created a watch only copy a while ago and imported to an online computer. It all worked okay and I have sent coins by signing from the offline wallet, but I recently created a new address in the offline wallet and sent coins there. When I have my laptop back up and running again will it automatically show these bitcoins in my watch only wallet, or do I have to import a watch only file again from the offline wallet?

Thanks and sorry if these are obvious questions. I'm quite sure I have done it correctly but would like some clarification for peace of mind.

As someone who uses betfair exchange frequently I can see the benefits of Countersports (no credit record or commission are big ones for me) but I have a question:

Do you have a specific plan for marketing this to your average user? The benefits seem clear to me but I am someone who owns xcp and bitcoin. Most of my friends would happily continue using betfair regardless of the disadvantages because they know it, trust it and can use fiat currency to bet. Many wouldn't like the idea of even using bitcoin let alone heading over to poloniex or bter to get some xcp to bet with.

So correct me if I am wrong but it seems like the use of Countersports will be relatively niche (i.e. used by those who are into crytpocurrencies) until bitcoin becomes more mainstream. Traditional bookmakers have elaborate advertising and marketing, luring people in with all kinds of free bets, so you're tackling giants here.

With all that said I am very impressed and will be placing some bets myself on the World Cup. I know this is just the start but I'm interested to hear how you think widespread use of Countersports will occur?

So can someone explain how this sidechain innovation project would affect projects like counterparty and mastercoin?

Many burners are too lazy to install all the dependencies to sell their coins. Therefore, the web wallet may attract buyers slowly in long term, but bring a lot of sellers immediately.

Pretty much and besides, the web wallet would have already been priced in.

Expecting cheaper XCPs in the near future.

Yes, but at the current prices we are at 25% market cap of Mastercoin. A very attractive valuation.

that is the decisive point: either msc is massively overvalued or xcp massively undervalued, with respect to all other altcoins I have an opinion regarding that.

I was on the Worldcoin bandwagon in December. And I vividly remember being so hyped on new exchange additions and then Scharmbeck, and radio show appearances, one thing after another and the price went from over a dollar to 7 cents...

The difference here of course is that this is not a clone coin, this is something that has real value to add. I guess the thing I'm worried about most is that the web wallet comes out and *crickets*....  What will it take to outshine what Mastercoin is doing ? I watched the talk of decentralized _________ <== fill in the blank at Bitcoin Miami, Mastercoin, ethereum, and bitshares (invictus) were all there, nothing was mentioned about Counterparty. Strange. I'm still holding, just saying, it may indeed rely quite a bit on marketing even when you do have a useful protocol of great intrinsic value.

I thought there was going to be a greater focus on marketing once xcp is more user friendly? Makes sense intuitively to direct resources to ironing out technical issues, then focus on marketing, pr etc. when there is a more polished 'product'.

Basically, I would like to run multiple separate versions of bitcoind on the same device. The reason for this is that I need the wallets to connect to separate programs via rpc (armory, counterpartyd and potentially the new mastercoin wallet). The problem I had is that to do this, I have to change the rpc username/password in the bitcoin.conf file so that it is compatible with each of these programs. I can't make one version of bitcoind compatible with all of these programs together. I was advised to download different versions of bitcoind, is this possible to do on one computer? If so, how? Thanks.
