4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie and Taint on: March 04, 2014, 08:26:00 PM

Yes, still learning what taint even is.

thank you for the help!!
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Newbie and Taint on: March 04, 2014, 05:18:05 PM

I've received a payment for something in Bitcoin.  The sender used blockchain.info's "shared send" to send to my account and it looks like it's coming from many addresses.

If I deposit this into an exchange like bitstamp, is this considered taint and will they cause issues with it?  Especially of course if I would try to withdraw my coins?

We're talking a few thousand dollars-
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase withdrawal delays? on: February 27, 2014, 06:31:42 PM
I just sent a few thousand dollars into the account and am waiting to withdraw my coins.

How did you "send" the $$$? Is the account verified? Account verification took me several days.

I did the ACH "pull"

the verification questions went fine after the second try fortunately.

What surprises await me if I try to withdraw bitcoins from Coinbase?HuhHuh    I'm pretty sure they don't just let people have their money/coins the first time they ask.  I've heard rumors of many hours of delays, "approval status",  etc...
7  Economy / Service Discussion / Coinbase withdrawal delays? on: February 27, 2014, 05:08:13 PM

I just opened a Coinbase account.  I'm verified, including the identity questions.

I just sent a few thousand dollars into the account and am waiting to withdraw my coins.

My concern is what kind of bitcoin withdrawal levels will trigger a delay, a request for copies of more ID, more information, notarized utility bills, blood type, etc.. is there a known withdrawal trigger limit?

for example if I try and withdraw $1,000 in BTC immediately, am I likely to get flagged?   Should I stay under $300?  Can I withdraw it all?  How many small withdrawals a day or does it matter?

I am very skeptical of these guys and don't want any problems on just getting my bitcoin out of there.

any help please-

11  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is CoinBase manipulating the market? on: February 11, 2014, 02:40:54 PM
Coinbase are not "legit".   "Legit" is a "carder word" used by criminals and low-lifes.  """I be LEGIT, bro!"    They can't speak correctly so they say sentences like "Oh, dey be Legit, broooooo!"   Roll Eyes

Coinbase are a scam, plain and simple.  They will look for any reason at all to lock your account, freeze your coins, return your ACH 7 days later, give you a requoted bad price, etc...   stay away from them.  Go with a "real" btc exchange overseas (but of course not Gox).

Coinbase have many trolls on this board hyping their services with words like "I've tried coinbase and they're great".

-Pffft.

12  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: **Free BTC to whoever wants some- FREE as in FREE!** on: December 19, 2013, 08:34:51 PM
So the feds are ostensibly watching this account, so whoever is lucky enough to sell you some bitcoin will be getting some unwanted attention from AML taskforce. Tough break for you and tough break for whoever sells BTC to you. Is there a way around this?

true- but the Feds are likely watching all the accounts at IAFCU hoping mine isnt' 'special' :| .  I've not heard of any problems yet but that doesn't mean one wouldn't arise-, and Jordan Modell has been great and helpful, but still admittedly a transfer from any IAFCU account could have their attention on it as you said -

possibly Paypal is a way around it, I'm looking into it.
13  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: **Free BTC to whoever wants some- FREE as in FREE!** on: December 17, 2013, 02:05:18 PM
Why not withdraw money and deposit cash in the seller's account? My understanding is that bank transfers in the US can be reversed so no one is going to risk it.

right- but my understanding is that ACH is irreversible after 30 days.  I wish I could withdraw it in cash-  bitfloor held my funds for nearly six months while bitcoin went from 65$ to what it is now- really bad "luck".  After they 'refunded' it, it could only be sent to one place, IAFCU, which mysteriously can't send a wire.

IAFCU is what what we call a 'honeypot' run by federal authorities.  The feds made a deal with Roman apparently in order to avoid money laundering charges he would cooperate and only withdraw funds to people to this 'fake' credit union -which was specifically set up to nail people who are withdrawing under false identities.  There's no wiring out into bitcoin-   This means for the unlucky people like myself who are using their real identities with IAFCU, we are in the same boat as the others- no convenient wire out to bitcoin/anonymity Smiley  It's 'clever' if you will, but it really is a huge inconvenience for those of us who don't have another bank account in the US due to being in 'chexsystems'.

That's the long story (sigh).  "bitfloor and the honeypot".

My funds are totally stuck in the honeypot unless I can find an ACH out.
14  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: **Free BTC to whoever wants some- FREE as in FREE!** on: December 17, 2013, 01:57:03 PM
Have you ever tried real local sellers at localbitcoins.

I think you can get easily one of the best sellers.

thanks- good idea- I'm looking into it.
15  Economy / Currency exchange / Buying BTC via ACH on: December 16, 2013, 02:47:10 PM
I'm offering free BTC to whoever wants some.

I'm trying to buy a small amount of bitcoins for my first BTC transaction ever, approximately 4-5,000 usd worth.

I'm paying by ACH.   (why? ask bitfloor why they refunded our money to IAFCU which can only send an ACH and no wires-)

-There is no issue with the ACH at all, as I'm offering escrow with John K.  He holds the coins until the possibility of filing a reversal on the ACH has past.  So there-

So, I'm offering 5% on the transaction, which amounts to approximately $150-$200.  (Wow! $200 for nothing more than selling you some BTC??? Sh*t!!!)

Yes, that's right.  For nothing more than selling me some bitcoin.  Gox is a fraud, won't open an account for me, Coinbase said the transaction was 'high risk' (what???) and reversed my buy (bitfloor collapsed and held my money for six whole months-).  There are no real sellers of BTC as far as I can tell and no way to buy any except on the private market.

Which is why I'm offering you free money.  $200+- absolutely free to whoever sells bitcoins to me.

first come, first get.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / **Buying LTC for 10% over value! Escrow needed- on: November 30, 2013, 10:51:16 AM
I'm offering to purchase your LTC for 10% over BTC-E rate in exchange for an ACH.

The transaction would be escrowed by a senior member for 90 days to ensure no ACH fraud reversal-

after 90 days my ltc would be released to me.  Your ACH would take 3-5 days as usual.

WTB $4,000 usd worth

**+10% above current prices-**

transaction works like this- send LTC to escrow account, wait for ACH 3-5 days,  confirm with escrower payment recieved, escrow completes in 90 days after no issues or reversals with ACH and I get my coins-

thanks
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Flying to China to Arbitrage 100-500k on: November 19, 2013, 05:42:37 PM
So to arbitrage, I need to first sell my coins in China, then buy them back outside China.  If you know anything about any part of this plan that might help, please contribute.

To sell in China, I can either use an exchange like BTCChina, or sell for cash locally (localbitcoins?)

Once I have the CNY, I will either wire it to Hong Kong through a friend, or fly the cash to Hong Kong.  I'm not sure what the rules are in order to be able to just wire straight from a Chinese bank account to my US/UK bank account or bitstamp.  I'm a US citizen.

Once I have cash in Hong Kong, I will either wire it to Bitstamp, fly to someone anywhere in the world who will sell me a large volume of bitcoins at the Bitstamp rate, or convert the cash to gold 1oz pandas and hoard them because they are pretty and shiny.

Thanks for any advice.

Don't fly cash to Hong Kong, it's stupid. They have dogs that are trained to smell money at the airports.

Last thing you want is to be stopped when a dog picks it up and you are ushered to customs where they would detain you and take your money.

+1

don''t ever fly cash above a few thousand in tourist money.  besides taking your money, they may (will) even xray you or worse looking for more of it.

19  Other / Beginners & Help / Looking for BTC private transactions, escrowed. on: November 19, 2013, 11:28:19 AM

Hello, just joined and want to buy into bitcoin-

Just about every major exchange has it's drawbacks and lengthy verification times so I'm looking to buy some btc privately.  If anyone's interested, I'm willing to pay essentially 7% more than value.

If anyone knows who would/could escrow private transactions...

I would pay with a wire or ACH within the US only.
