hi all,

Have anyone who is solo mining gotten any blocks sins hardfork and new wallet v1.4.6.2?
I can't even get PoS rewards since the fork.  Been stuck at 4-5 hours until reward since yesterday morning.  My weight is 695.

Just out of curiosity...
Which miners are you all using?

I'm using "cpuminer-opt-3.8.8.1"

"https://github.com/JayDDee/cpuminer-opt/releases"

J
That's the one I am using on Linux Mint.  Shout out to jonathin.r for turning me on to it.

I don't know how to insert a local image or I would give you a screenshot.  9-10 days ago the chain was all over the place so that may very well be orphaned.  I had 4 orphaned PoS payments in a row 2 or 3 days ago.  You should be able to hover your mouse over the payment and it will say something like, "Confirmed (27 confirmations)  Generated balance will be available when it matures in 493 more blocks."  Or it could say, "Unconfirmed (0 of 6 confirmations) Generated but not accepted."

If you get generated but not accepted then it is an orphan.

NEW TOPIC! And hello.  Smiley

So I have a 0.0094xxx wallet balance that is unconfirmed and that I'm assuming at this time is orphaned. It kinda bugs me. Is there a way to resolve it to "confirmed orphan"?
I appreciate the help, and the positive contributors to the conversation at large.
Unconfirmed just means that 520 blocks have not yet been found on top of your block.  If you are using the QT wallet, you can hover your mouse over that transaction and it will tell you how many transactions it has/needs to be confirmed.

A question for some of the more computer savvy members.  I will be going out of town for a few months but I want my wallet to continue to stake and to solo mine while I am gone.  I can write a bash script to start the solo miner if/when my wife gets her hands on my computer to play a game on Windoze.  What I am not sure of is the command to start the wallet unlocked and staking.

Does anyone know how to start m-wallet unlocked and staking?  ./m-wallet will start it, but the wallet is locked (needs password) and not staking.

Thanks guys.  I loaded the last known good snapshot and synced with Joe.  As predicted, I lost everything I mined yesterday.

I am now on 1822918.  The link to  poolinfo.systms shows them on block 1822985.  I think I'll stick with Joes for now.  Hopefully he is working on a fix.

Anyone have the latest chain snapshot?  I am 1000 blocks behind but the snapshot from https://m-core.org/bin/block-chain/ is old.  Only goes up to 1813042.  I solved 3 blocks last night solo mining but they are probably on the wrong fork.

Sigh... Angry

Try replacing --url with -o.  like this:
cpuminer-aes-sse42 -a m7m -o http://127.0.0.1:8232 -u Doug -p x -t 24

And you are missing a - in front of url and = after.  Should read:
cpuminer-aes-sse42 -a m7m --url=http://127.0.0.1:8232 -u Doug -p x -t 24

Downloaded and compiled for Linux.  m-minerd was reporting ~46 kh/s and the pool was reporting ~52.  CPUMiner-opt is reporting ~53 kh/s and the pool reports ~62.  I'll let it run a while and see if it stays like that.

I've started using cpuminer-opt on my Windows computer, and I love it. It tells me when the stratum difficulty changes, when and why my shares are being rejected, and the hashrate of my 4 threads. I hate to sound like an advertisement, but if you're still using m-minerd, I'd recommend giving cpuminer-opt (or cpuminer-multi for 32-bit processors) a try.
Windoze only or a Linux version out there?  The features sound nice, but how is hashrate compared to m-minerd?

Same problem here.  Went from 206 XMG to 15 XMG.  I loaded a wallet backup from last week and only lost about 8 XMG.  Still frustrating.

Thanks xpoolx.  My chain is slowly updating and catching up.

What block is xpoolx on?

I added a few nodes from xpoolx post and still only on 1812047.

My wallet is on 1812038.  Last received block was generated 1 minute ago.

If it is still receiving current blocks then I would say it is on the right chain.

If jonathin.r is still on here, thanks for the coins.  Sorry to see you leave though.

Question about solo mining.

Since my efforts seem to be going to an orphanage anyway, I thought I would give solo mining a try.  When I execute the command: "./m-minerd --url http://127.0.0.1:8232 --user <My_Username> --pass <My_Password>" I get a message that says, "No payout address provided, switching to getwork."

If I solve a block, will I not get paid?  How do I link my wallet to m-minerd?  My wallet is open and staking.

Thank you 111Magic and the rest of the Magi team.

https://cryptotastic.net has been down since last night.  Will this affect the mining giveaways?  It's certainly affecting my mining!

maybe some usefull information about staking:

set in magi.conf
Code:
stakesplitthreshold=50
stakecombinethreshold=25

this allows us to stake a lot every few minutes with small fractions of ~ 30 - 60 XMG per stake at the moment.

let's say you have 1000 XMG or more, if you let them split down to smaller portions your posibility to stake is much higher, because you'll only stake with small fractions, your total weight will be higher and one can stake more often.

that's what i notice in our wallet. maybe play with the numbers.

have some addresses with 1000 XMG and inside 30 smaller tx (splits).

stake screenshot: https://img.static.lu/show/cu6NfeA0Y5jcaL0v

we'll lower the numbers today to following and see how next days evolve.
Code:
stakesplitthreshold=10
stakecombinethreshold=5

a stake needs 520 blocks (~ 9 hours) to confirm and to be able to stake 24/7 you need a decent amount of XMG splitted into smaller fractions Wink

This sounds good in practice, but how does staking 50 coins compare to staking 200 coins as far as rewards?  What I am asking, basically, is if I only stake 50 coins won't I get less reward than if I stake 200 coins and wait for the 'cooling off period'?

Aren't staking rewards based on the amount staked and the age of the coins?  If I split my coins into 50 coin segments instead of staking the entire 200 coins, won't I receive less reward?

This is an honest question that you might be able to answer through the experimentation you are currently conducting.

I have a value question for the marketers/traders.

If everyone is sitting on their XMG and staking and no one is buying or selling XMG, doesn't that kill the value?

The idea of PoS is good on it's surface, but if it encourages hoarding instead of trading then it would seem to be counter-productive to Magi as a whole.

Am I missing something?
