1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2014, 04:29:32 AM
I started small, and I am probably still very small compared to you guys.  But bitcoin made me a few bucks when up, and a few when down.  I've been thrilled, and rather than trying to multiply my "winnings" (which I have neither the time nor the skill to do) I have used it to start up a couple of new endeavors.  Those may have more or less risk than BTC, but the really great thing I've absorbed from lurking around this community is the entrepreneurial spirit.  Man, people are building ALL KINDS of stuff, and they're gaining incredible success from their efforts.  It's great!  Yep, some are greedy BFL types or straight up brainwallet calculating thieves, but I have seen more people apply themselves in clever ways in order to earn a living (or a bundle) than I've seen in any other community.

When the talk goes to anarchy and the collapse of society and all, I kind of glaze over.

Hows about we hear some tales about when you had no coins, then two, then twenty, then those twenty exploded?  What you have now is quite a bit better than you had a few years back, so what is it doing for you?  Fixed up your car?  Sweet new PC or Terahash rig in the basement?  How is this magical money from thin air improving your situation RIGHT NOW, and what sort of cool stuff is it inspiring you to do next?

PS.  CCMF!  This is speculation after all.

4  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Auction] Avalon Gen1 clone hardware - 16 complete "barebone" units available on: December 13, 2013, 12:10:40 AM
Ha ha, it looks like I am just too impatient.  Sorry all.  Got an update that the units are being packed.  Separating the individual components is taking some time, very understandable.

Hello prawda,

Are you involved in this sale as well? I am not having much luck recently getting in touch with Shades.  I have purchased and paid, but I found that DE post won't allow me to pay for the 68EUR freight charge to USA.  I offered to pay shades the cost plus extra for his trouble, but have not heard back for a few days.  So I was wondering if this sale will go on or not.

Hey, here's one I can answer

The chip is 1st gen Avalon (A3256), and the expected hashrate of a full unit is 85-110GH.

What kinds of chips does this run on?

Whats the hash rate of a completed unit?

Hmm.  Tried contact through PM and email.  No luck

Anyone know these gents personally, or have a phone number?  I feel like if there was someone there to change the order from processing to cancelled, that same person should be able to send the refund.

Do you have solder stencils for these boards?

I placed an order for a couple of k16 boards which I see was recently cancelled.  But no refund has been processed - Did I just get scammed?
15  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Best Prices of Gold, Silver, & Platinum for Bitcoins on: November 30, 2013, 05:38:48 AM
Hello,

First, thank you for correcting the free shipping bug.  Now attempting to buy.

Tried twice to place orders for 20oz silver, you will probably see my attempted registration/open orders in your database.  Based on my username here, it should not be hard to narrow down.  Cart crashed 2x at final "pop up btc address" stage.  Needless to say, I did not send to the crashed address.  Re-opening page remembers cart but not registration or pay to addresss.  Retyping all the user info is a bit of a pain, for something that I'm sure was stored long before the crash.

Please pm or email me to work this out.  At this point, I can't say I'm thrilled with the percieved legitimacy of your site.

1.95 shipping is not really that expensive

Found code input during order process, but it tells me that
PrincessBride
Is not valid.
19  Economy / Auctions / Re: Selling Gigadice.com - Tons of Unique Features on: November 29, 2013, 03:48:04 AM
I tried it, its going to take some work.  Can you share some details on whether it was built from scratch or from off the shelf components?

20btc is too high, but it would be good to know how much work is required to get it off the ground.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 27, 2013, 10:06:39 PM
Why not just si?

Cbit, mbit, ubit, nbit, pbit, fbit, abit

Ceebit, embit, youbit, enbit, peebit, effbit

Hows about:

   Bitcoin         = Bits   = 1 unit
   cents   = cBits   = 0.01 units
millis or mills      = mBits   = 0.001 units
micros or mics      = μBits   = 0.000001 units
Satoshi or sats            = 0.00000001 units
   nanos or nans   = nBits   = 0.000000001 units (for when 1 Bitcoin = 1 Mega dollar or BTC1 = M$1 = $1,000,000)

The logic being 100 cents in a Dollar/Euro but we don't say centidollar or centieuro, we just say cents.

"centi-bit" cBTC
"milli-bit"   mBTC
"micro-bit" µBTC
"satoshi"   sBTC

probably causes the least confusion

or

"cent-coin"
"milli-coin"
"micro-coin"

or

"ceebits" cBTC
"embits"  mBTC
"mybits"  µBTC

For me:

First lot ok - but too many syllables

Second lot - a little clunky 'cent-coin' yikes...

Third - 'ceebits' / 'embits' /'mybits'....   actually - genius!
